Endless kudos to him for refusing to let some tough playoff losses taint his judgment (Hi Dennis). He was one of the greats himself and could've POSSIBLY (yeah, I know, Lakers) won a championship as well if he would've played in the Western Conference. Jokic and Luka are two of the best players in the NBA, most consider Jokic the best player in the league right now. Slow, unathletic, but insanely smart and skilled, high IQ players. Both horrible defenders as well, unlike Bird. If that's not about as much proof as you can get that Bird can play and be just as good or even better in this era, idk what is.
