One of the most skilled and toughest fighters ever. He went through it. They kept trying to get rid of him, by matching him up with the biggest and baddest, but he refused to go away. He was all arms and quick feet. And a murderous jab. The best jab in the business during his era. His foot speed and jab was a beautiful sight to see. And could take a punch. He could take the punchs of the hardest hitters of the time. His quick recovery from being hurt and getting shook was UNBELIEVABLE. He was not a big heavyweight, but tall and rangy. But, could Stand and punch with the best when he had to. People thought that he wasn't going to last long. So people didn't pay enough attention or give him credit or his due or respect. But, he earned everybody's respect. He proved that he was the BEST. He proved that he had what it takes. He proved that he belonged on the top. And he stayed there for a long time. He was the best in his era. And he was one of the best ever in the history of Boxing. He was Larry "The Easton Assassin" Holmes. Much Respect.

They aren’t blackballing him. He can barely speak. He has a 7th grade education and made it far with that. To put him on TV in a speaking role is preposterous 🤣
@@jasonphillips8032 That statement speaks volumes to your character! The man invested his money better then a bus load of collage grads and he know the game on a level far beyond that of a casual ass fan that allows him to communicate insights and behaviors of fighters and the game over all far better then you could in 15 languages! I’ll bet money on that! The man has Character and intellect and can get his point across of course that take observation and basic listening skills beyond what you obviously possess!
Bring up Tupac’s name in a boxing legend interview was cringgy and completely pointless
He does shit like that, doesn't he? Smh
Vlad is obsessed with pac, deathroe
Huh English?
It was a good question, especially due to the fact that Pac actually did call out Larry Holmes for being out of shape when he returned to boxing...
@@akinchinnery1167 I bet an even out of shape Holmes would punish Tupac
A good man for sure. He deserves the legacy he built. His phone needs to ring so he can continue to talk about boxing and how great he was. To remind us what boxing did for him, and what he did for boxing. His love of Ali was for the man himself. What a great interview of a great man. Someone should make him a damn plaque for the hall of fame..jeeze
One thing I most appreciate about heavyweight champion Larry Holmes is a real individual and God bless him.
Sorry dude Ali's prime was before 73 Larry sparred with him during the slide prime ( where he was also still great).
Liston was "prime" 5 years before the ali fight, moore was "prime" 10 years before the ali fight, louis was "prime" 6 years before the rocky fight,Holmes was "prime" 6 years before the tyson fight...even today wladimir Klitschko was "prime" 18 months before the joshua fight. It happens in boxing all through history. I can give you 100 examples
Ty
Ali was TBE
@@solidcake3401 nope, none of the boxers you mentioned were stripped of licence and fkd over by government
Man what a life story.coming from a life with nothing to the heavyweight champion of the world.alis sparing partner defending his belt 19 times.he was around at the time of the great gladiators at 63 I remember them all and I'm sure many others do to not to mention any names.if you were around in that era you know.larry had much respect for Ali coming to his hometown to pick him as a sparing partner.i really loved this lifestory and I have much respect for larry.its not too many of them around left.God Bless.
FACTS!!!
He defended his WBC belt 20 times, with 20 wins, only Joe Lois has more title defenses and wins in the heavyweight division
look it up.
A great boxer.i always liked larry as a boxer.didnt get the recognition.he was always in the shadows of ali.and I'm sure he learned things from Ali.
In the shadow of Ali? I don’t think he was.
I like Larry Holmes interviews because he gives details.
Larry Holmes was always a class act. A great boxer who is amongst the best heavyweights of all time. Long may he run.
He was mikes and evanders punching bag bro
@@Ehrle6969 What a silly comment. Holmes was 38 when he fought Tyson and 42 when he fought Holyfield, both of whom were in their prime. Holmes fought and defeated every heavyweight of his era and did so with great skill and class.
@@roblabelle7874 Prime mike solos any version of Holmes with the greatest of ease. Even spinks soloed holmes twice lmao and tyson destroyed spinks in few secs.
@@Ehrle6969 I don't dispute that Tyson in his prime would likely have defeated Holmes in his prime. But it would have been a great fight. Most observers, including myself, believe Holmes won the second Spinks fight by a mile. Spinks' loss to Tyson was inevitable. He was terrified, past his prime and not a natural heavyweight. Tyson got his ass kicked later in his career too, that doesn't detract from his earlier accomplishments. Nor should it for Holmes.
Larry, I love you champ! You were my Father's favorite fighter and mine as well! I lost my father in late March to Covid and I felt him close to me as i watched this interview. God bless you. Stay safe Champ!
👍👌✌
I love watching Larry Holmes's fights. He was a beautiful boxer. If any young man or woman wants to learn how to box, they should watch him.
I trained in Aaron Pryor's camp as a teenager and I was a big kid , planning on eventually fighting at heavyweight. When Pryor showed us film he showed Holmes as the example of what a heavyweight should do in the ring. He considered Holmes the best at heavyweight and he told us so. Pryor knew boxing as well as anyone in the world and we believed what he said
I love Larry Holmes! A great champion. Great comments about Muhammed Ali being a man for all people, regardless of color - and as a child of the 70's I know this was true. Sit back and enjoy your life, Larry...only a handful of men can walk around after retirement and have everyone say, "There goes Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes!"
Who are the other guys in the hand full that are walking around being called Larry holmes?
@@SammyJoeLouis Haha! You know what I meant! There goes the Heavyweight Champion of the world! You must be an English teacher...
Then and now a man to love and admire. A true gentleman in every sense of the word! God bless him and his!!!
This interview is Gold 👍Larry fought all the greats from Ali, to Tyson and was one of the greatest ever heavyweights, with the fastest Jab in the business
I have not seen Holmes interviewed in a couple of years, he has aged a great deal in that time
yeah very unfortunate id love to see him as hes a living legend in the world that has so few of them anymore
He has aged I saw him on bbc or sky sports he was much more lively. He’s entering an elderly state now unfortunately
I was thinking the same, gome back a long way since then
I have always loved Larry Holmes..his theme song..Aint no stopping us
He is an example of a true American champion
True Champion of world! Class act and a great representative of the sport of boxing. Legend indeed!
Im 25 and i just started boxing myself and it seems different now watching this man
This is my favorite Vlad interview without a doubt. I didnt know Larry Holmes was a cool dude. What a blessed man. without a doubt one of the greatest.
I hold MEN from this generation in high reverence! Proud to raised in Easton!
Larry s Mr Easton
As per statement in this exclusive djvlad make sure to pay Larry Holmes his money.
An u said 22 amateur fights was a lot. Do better research.
... I was surprised he said that too.. Ali had 108 amateur fights!
word.
They have boxers with close too 400 amateur fights
Very humble, respectful and accomplished man. Given all he's done, he is still very greatful, honest and forgiving. Great man.
What a class act. Very proud of Larry and happy for him and his family. 🥊
How can you not love this guy. Truly one of the greats.
I think Ali vs Holmes would be a flip of a coin.Their boxing skills and granite chins were identical,as well as guts and heart!
I can also say Holmes vs Ali!
@@stevenwerezak4532 Prime Ali vs Prime Homles would be 100% a coin flip just like Ali vs Liston if the fight wasn't fixed by the mafia.
He gloated on Berbicks death , how can u say he is a great man, he is evil
How dare he celebrate the death of a man , how dare he
A Champion among Champions and an Overall Gentleman. May he ALWAYS be remembered for his place with the Greatest in Boxing History. He deserves respect!!!!
EXCELLENT JOB /YOU COVER EVERYBODY I STUDY. IN-DEPTH AND GREAT COVERAGE
DAMN!!!
What a precious interview. Thank you for sharing.
No other sports history is more interesting than boxing. All great fighters need a biopic.
Boxing has a great history. Subject on itsself.

Larry seems to have a great deal of respect for his wife which is so refreshing
One of the greatest boxers, ever. Very underrated. I appreciate you, Larry.
For an uneducated man, Larry is one sharp dude. It would be cool to just have a cup of coffee with him and just hang out. Good guy, great champion. Better than most.
A Wise Man is better than the Most highly Educated Man. Education is indoctrination.
He's talking about boxing. He should know what he's talking about. Lets ask him some science questions and see how he does. lol
