The oregano oil causes the instant trace, I've learned from experience. Try blending the clay and charcoal with oil first, it blends in much more quickly and needs less stirring. You keep making the most beautiful products, I really enjoy watching your videos.
WI gal here too. When I talk I don’t think I sound like that but when I hear it on video it’s totally there. My in-laws moved to FL and their friends really hear that northern accent. Beautiful soaps. I too know all too well how two of the same batches don’t always behave the same.
When I married a Montana man and moved from MN to MT I would tell people "I'm from Minnesota" and they'd say yes we know by the way you said Minnesota! 😂 I never thought I had an accent either. Love the cow bars though being raised a dairy farmer! Will be a great hot process soap and I look forward to that video someday ☺ have a wonderful day ellen!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, & I love the simplicity of the rustic look! I adore your videos & your soaps. The luxurious lather in your bars is divine! 🧼❤️🧼
That is great that they came out with virtually no holes, except on the outside! Love to make bars with charcoal and clays (scrubby bars) but I have never used that combo of essential oils, so thanks for the heads up. Love the Scratch & Dent idea. Cheers & Blessings 👍💕
I've found clays thicken soaps really quickly. I think charcoal thickens batter a bit as well. I also run into trouble with charcoal seeming more likely to develop soda ash after a few days but it's such a nice colorant that I don't want to give it up. The soap designs are lovely even if they weren't what you'd expected.
Hi from Florida! Yeah…. The top is just okay, but I do like how the black salt shows up, it has a reddish look on camera! I like the insides! the 1st batch reminds me of the spoon plop method, the second is a subtle pretty kinda of elegant marble! May not have come out exactly as intended, but still very pretty bars!
And also they heat up the soap. Is kind of tricky. What I do is that I add the clays and act charcoal after I have trace and leave the FO or EO for last, but working very fast and work at room temp.
Oh my goodness! I thought Orca when I saw those too! I actually think they're gorgeous. I think the other one is beautiful too. Thank you for all of your videos. I so appreciate all I've learned from you! :)
From ND and live in MN. People can definitely catch the accent but everyone has one. Love the soaps. I have used activated charcoal in a soap and it washed out just fine from a white wash cloth
Thank you for bring us along with your soapy trials! I think they look very good for what you had to work with, time wise that is. I hate to be rushed with a fast moving batch, it just takes the enjoyment out of the process!!! Great Save, anyway!!!
Ok Ellen I think you can continue cold processing this blend( I do) - incorporate de clays to the oils in separate batches ,if you want two tones( usually I do just solid color with the misbehaving EO/ fo), add the EO blend as you go, not into both containers at the same time since that will take pouring time away from you, and don’t panic 😱, you know what you are walking into( Soaping into). That is the way I make pine tar also well known for not playing nicely. Beside that GREAT 😊 bars, and 👏
I love them both! If you shipped to Canada I would for sure ordered this one. Love the salt color! My pin tar soap accelerates fast as well. I use my stick blender before I use the pin tar. Once the pin tar is in, it's hand blending only and I blend to light trace, then pour fast for a smooth finish. By the time it's time to do the top, it doesn't play nice, so I keep it simple.
@@EllenRuthSoap thank you so much. I look forward to shorter even milder winters. The older I get it seems winters get more brutal. Thank you so much for everything you do. Have a wonderful summer.
Those are great bars Ellen!! Why not add some peppermint, it might even prolong the solidifying a little bit and if anything will make it fresh! One thing though that is causing the seizing and would help definitely is to hydrate the bentonite and charcoal with a little 'extra' aloe juice. Same process similar to mixing mica with oil in a cup. Don't take it out of your lye mixture but add extra liquid to your additives so they don't suck all the moisture out of your batter. Just a thought instead of not making it any more?!
A soap that kicks butt!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Honestly, though, don't we want a tough working soap to drive out the toxins? That soap could scare toxins from a distance!
Wow!! Soap on a rope lol! It's funny about the accent thing, I'm not from down south, but whenever I'm around someone talking with a southern accent, which I love lol, I start talking like that and don't realize it, ill even do it just talking to people, so I can relate.
So funny! 😂 I was born and raised and still live in Wisconsin but I would not have known you have an accent lol. What city in WI did you live in? I was born in Lake Geneva but I live in Milwaukee so glad to see a native Wisconsinite 👏🏼 you’re the best!!!! 😍🥰😍
That was an awesome video!! Very stressful indeed =) I do have a quick question about the essential oils... at what percentage did you use each PPO? Thank you so much and I am just addicted to your videos ♥:)
Oregano is guilty. It accelerates extremely fast. Plus charcoal accelerates and bentonite sucks up water. You did good. Well done. They are lovely smell wonderful

I struggle with soap seizing up with tea tree essential oil, what a great idea to make those tricky one hot process!
I don't know how I missed this video but I love how these turned out Ellen. I think they look great
They turned out better than you expected!! The second bar from the first loaf had a fox on it!! I so enjoy your videos!! Thank you!
Great save. Beautiful bars. And yes, I immediately saw cow print, and I like it alot being on a ranch ;)

No worries , the soaps look wonderful as always!! Love your videos!!
congrats on 50k subscribers, Ellen! great soap as usual 💕
Thank you so much!🥰
I honestly think you slayed these loafs. It's completely a rustic posh
Thank you🥰

I just love watching your videos. So relaxing and fun!!!
Thank you so much!🥰
Holy smokes! That moved super fast! Still turned out amazing, imo, so no loss. 😊
Still looks like a very nice soap. ❤
The thin whisps of white look nice, but I love the thick ribbons of color in the other one.
When it was all done, I still can't decide which one I like best😅
Ellen!, igual quedó hermosa la barra de jabón más rústica...me encantó!
Thank you 💕
that black himalayan salt looks stunning on top, they look like garnets to me. beautiful soap despite the acceleration Ellen x
Thank you💕
That has happened to me several time but the colors are so distinctively beautiful. Great soap making.

It's a great combo, but a stinker to soap with🤣
Still super cute bars 💕💕 love them.
Thanks, these ones were a challenge 😉
They both look great!
Love these bars, Ellen. You and Ashley Marie convinced to go from plain black to breaking it with a bit of white. Your bars came out stunning! 🥰
Awesome soap
Love the look!

I like both pours. I dont saw a essential oil moving so fast like this. :O WOW But they turned out beautiful.
I like them! 👍 🐄
Thank you for always sharing the positive out comes & the ones that are not as easy!!
great looking as usual

I seem to recall that a heavy clay and charcoal soap recipe will accelerate trace too. Not always just the FO or EO’s.
And also they heat up the soap. Is kind of tricky. What I do is that I add the clays and act charcoal after I have trace and leave the FO or EO for last, but working very fast and work at room temp.
Congratulations on 50k subs Ellen! 😊

I really like the look of the granite bars. Well done!
Thank you💕
Those are beautiful ❤️
Thanks 💕
Beautiful soaps....
Thank you!

Thanks! Yes, I don't enjoy the stress of fast moving batches🤣

Great advice❣️
I have had that happen to me as well. It is so stressful. I do like both though.
Yes, stressful batches are not my favorite🤣
I love them both! If you shipped to Canada I would for sure ordered this one. Love the salt color! My pin tar soap accelerates fast as well. I use my stick blender before I use the pin tar. I've not made pine tar soap, but have heard it's a trouble maker too🤣
Don't be so hard on yourself they are both lovely. But the first is my favourite despite the extremely fast acceleration xx
Thank you so much!!💕
I have lived in Wisconsin all my life and now my husband and I are wanting to move to Tennessee.
You'll love the shorter, milder winters, but the summers are HOT and humid😉
@@EllenRuthSoap thank you so much. I look forward to shorter even milder winters. The older I get it seems winters get more brutal. Thank you so much for everything you do. Have a wonderful summer.

Great suggestions, thanks ❣️💕
It happened ! But the results were good.
They look beautiful 😻 thanks for sharing what soap makers are able to handle 😬…
Thanks for watching! This batch was a challenge🤣
Not bad at all.
I love them! And your accent as I can relate being from MN😉
😊 thank you! My husband is from MN!
@@EllenRuthSoap Such a small world!! ☺️
Sooo pretty
A soap that kicks butt!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Honestly, though, don't we want a tough working soap to drive out the toxins? That soap could scare toxins from a distance!
I love your comment! If any soap could scare away toxins, this one would do it🤣❣️
Still looks great Ellen 🤩 any idea which of the oils maybe the culprit?
I think it was the oregano oil
Wow!! Soap on a rope lol! It's funny about the accent thing, I'm not from down south, but whenever I'm around someone talking with a southern accent, which I love lol, I start talking like that and don't realize it, ill even do it just talking to people, so I can relate.
Same, and when I go back to WI my northern accent comes back strong 🤣
Hiiii!
Which of the essential oils speed up trace the most? You used oregano is he the culprit?
Yes, I think the oregano oil was the main factor, but the charcoal and clay helped it along🤣
Do you have a recipe for chamomile soap
I've used chamomile infused oil in my soap recipes before, it was wonderful.
Sorry for the stress and the rough batch. It still looks good.
Thanks, this was a challenging soap🤣
So funny! 😂 I was born and raised and still live in Wisconsin but I would not have known you have an accent lol. What city in WI did you live in? I was born in Lake Geneva but I live in Milwaukee so glad to see a native Wisconsinite 👏🏼 you’re the best!!!! 😍🥰😍
I grew up near Superior, and loved it❣️
They are both very lovely. Don't be so hard on yourself.
Maybe a goid one to use a texture mat under and not texture the top?
An impression mat would be a great idea for this!
Great idea I love impression mats
That was an awesome video!! Very stressful indeed =) I do have a quick question about the essential oils... at what percentage did you use each PPO? Thank you so much and I am just addicted to your videos ♥:)
I look up the recommended % rate for each E.O. and use that according to the total volume of soap
@@EllenRuthSoap Ok and thank you!! ♥
Hi can i use aloe vera extract power
Yes 👍
Do you still make lip balms and hand creams?
Yes 👍
What's the colloidal oat for ?
I really like how it feels in the lather, oats are very soothing on the skin.
@@EllenRuthSoap thank you Ellen :)
That does look a lil stressful...lol
Oh ya🤣
Holstein cow
🤣🐄 yes!
Oregano is guilty. It accelerates extremely fast. Plus charcoal accelerates and bentonite sucks up water. You did good. Well done. They are lovely smell wonderful
Yes to all three factors😂 But it sure makes great soap!
@@EllenRuthSoap I hope you do it again. 😃. I wonder if pouring in the oregano directly in the mold will help.
Both batches are beautiful. You are too hard on yourself.
Thank you🥰
@@EllenRuthSoap you are so very welcome.
They still turned out very nice. They're giving off a masculine look to me and the gaps on the side give them character in my opinion 🖤🤍
🥰💕
