Irish dancers dance on the spot, because in the old days, in rural Ireland, they took out the wooden door of their tiny houses and laid it on the muddy uneven ground. Neighbours often gathered to join in with music and singing. The wooden door gave the tapping sound, but also limited the dancers in making big movements, due to the small size of the dance “floor”. Greetings from Ireland ☘️ Erin go bragh 🇮🇪
We, in the west, are often far too jaded for our own good. To watch someone thoroughly enjoy this is a reminder to take time to allow yourself to love something beautiful.
There will never be another "Riverdance"....What a great decision to show our friends this culture. I was Blessed to have seen them twice in concert! What an Experience it was too :)
I love their Celtic folk music. I was really into the Celtic Woman music over 20 years because I found it to be very beautiful and calming. As a matter of fact I listened to their music to help with my anxieties. Worked pretty much every time.
I was a child in Ireland watching this live in 94 and seeing your reactions and you appreciating this beautiful dance all these years later brought a tear to my eye, thanks so much for sharing this and bring back lovely memories 🇮🇪💕
I was fortunate enough to watch their live performance. It moves the soul , the whole auditorium reverberated with the dance. So glad these gentlemen appreciated it.
I'm so glad you guys liked it. Irish music and dance is such an integral part of our culture and me personally. Nothing better than Irish music against the sound of tap shoes, just magic! Much love from Ireland 💚🤍🧡 ✌🏻 x
The only thing that could top watching Riverdance again is watching thse lovely people reacting to it. They are SO insightful and so honest. It's beautiful to watch.
I have tears in my eyes now watching this and remembering 1994 when this came out of the blue in the gap between the acts and the voting began . I’d never heard of Irish dancing and was blown away . The 3 guys showed enthusiasm and respect to the show , which tells you everything you need to know about them . Respect to you guys ! 👍🏴
I started crying myself. I remember seeing this live. A time when I was much happier.. And the future was bright and in front of me. It's funny how certain things can trigger memories.
It's really positive and wonderful entertainment. You guys understood the skill it took and I was happy to see you all enjoy it. It's a favourite of mine.
Trained in irish dance for over a decade, watching people react to seeing it for the first time never fails to make me cry. Folk art is some of our most important heritages as an animal and we can speak across such wide divides of experiences.
So proud as an Irish lady to see you watching this, we used to say- when Irish dancing- never let your top half know what your bottom half is doing 😂but this performance was the first time anyone dared to challenge this, it was dynamic, different, exciting, modern and it blew our heads up with excitement and pride 🎉they changed an age old for of dancing, dared to bend the rules and it worked! We were all mesmerised
I still remember seeing this performance and being astounded but also slightly amused because it really was such a different kind of dance. Years later, I was lucky enough to see a performance of Lord of the Dance, live. Wow! Wonderful! Superb! Not enough superlatives in the world to describe the skill and energy. I loved seeing this reaction because, as always, these chaps are spot on with their observations. They never miss a thing and are always so positive. Fantastic stuff.
It is very important to understand the reason behind the form of this Irish dance. When the English controlled Ireland, they tried to destroy Irish culture and language. One way they tried to do so was to make dancing illegal. Instead of no longer dancing, the Irish focused on the movement of the legs and feet, keeping their arms still and by their sides. That is why Irish dancers almost never use their arms today. This allowed the dancer to deny that they were in fact dancing if an authority tried to stop them. In this context, it is important to understand that Irish dance became a form of resistance and defiance of authority. It is lively and irrepressible. The performance of the individual dancer is more important than coordinating perfectly with another dancer, or moving in absolute synchronization with others. The importance of Irish dance is to preserve identity and resist authority.
I am glad they enjoyed it so much. I have seen Irish Dancers perform at local colleges (one troupe from Ireland) and I saw Celtic Women perform live. Truly amazing culture
This was a very important moment for Irish pride as well as the entire Gaelic diaspora around the world. It took the cultural traditions and portrayed them in a modern form that felt epic and elegant and even sexy. I grew up with Celtic musical traditions, as part of the Celtic diaspora in Canada, and for our culture to suddenly become cool was a big moment. You might be interested in the recent rise of artists who fuse Celtic music with Indian music. I moved to a region of Canada with a large Punjabi population, and I learned about a local band called Delhi 2 Dublin that fused Irish sounds with Punjabi sounds as well as modern sounds, and it reignited by childhood interest in Celtic music. I've since learned about artists such as The Snake Charmer, and bands like Jiggy, that also combine Celtic and Indian music together. There's some commonality between the two cultures that makes the music fit together seamlessly and naturally, and it's beautiful to hear.
Oh, that wasn't just a reaction to the dancing style, but to the very birthing moment of the show! Very awesome choice - a little piece of dancing history even. Particularly loved the comparison of Babu to Michael Jackson's dancing style. Had the same thought just seconds before. Now I would love to see their reaction to a Bavarian Schuhplattler! :D
River dancing has spread through out the world. From that one dance troupe many have sprung up. There was a video of hundreds of people from children to adults doing that dance and set a world record.
In so glad you appreciate thier performance. I dedicate this to my mum and family who is with God now. I think alot of you all, and bless you as my family I bless as well. God be with you. I have alot of joy knowing you although I'm a stranger...and we've never met . I have alot of joy watching your channel and I think alot of you all. God blessings again on you. And may God continue to bless you as you all are such a blessing to so many. I think very highly of you each .. different in personality.. like different flowers.🙂I may sound gushy, but my words are sincere.
Hi guys! The entire dance is about an hour long. The dancers mostly use their feet, which is why it's called step dancing. I like Irish music a lot, both trad and contemporary.
The dance doesn’t last an hour. Are you for real? This was designed as intermezzo for the Eurovision Song Contest. Dancing like this for one hour continuously would be killing yourself.
Glad yall got to enjoy this form of dancing. I remember years ago when i first discovered it. There was one of their performances i believe was called Lord of the Dance and there was a rivalry act in the show. The 2 performers did a dance off and each time they would get faster and faster with their feet. It was amazing
Watching them in person is amazing. I've seen them in person once, but there's Irish step dance performances all over. My cousin used to do it lol it's really impressive
The manner in which these gents observe the culture of others and the fact that they have a default intense level of real respect should be noted by all. This data should be converted into how we all act, the manner of our military and trade agreements and our respect for things that are different from ourselves, yet possibly vastly superior due to them being pure, unaffected by the western cult of self and ego. They truly are men of 'Eden'. Each of them is different, yet they come to instant moral agreement on what is beautiful and noble in the world. May God love you and hold you forever. May your children have many children, each stronger and wiser than the last. May God, in time, give you the place that you peacefully and lovingly deserve. I am not referring to expressed genetics, I am referring to outlook, which all good men may choose and are not bound by the choices of their fathers. This is a Holy and righteous video for those that see within what can be seen.
I think they would enjoy the 1989 movie Tap. It starred the amazingly talented Gregory Hines, as well as many of the greatest tap legends known to American vaudeville and theater. The young boy was played by Hines' student, Savion Glover, who has become in his own right a major influence in dance. There is also Baz Luhrmann's 1992 film Strictly Ballroom. They may not understand the camp humor, or the backstabbing theatrics of competitive dance, but the many dance scenes are spectacular, and I think they would appreciate that it is an old traditional dance, the Spanish Paso Doble that eventually wins.
I was fortunate to see Michael Flatley at Wembly Stadium a good while ago…( a friend asked me to meet her there &, she bought the tickets 🙃👍💗❤️🔥‼️)….it was AMAZING 🔥💗🔥‼️‼️
Frank from Germany, I been watching your videos for years and saw a yt video you should definitely show the guys, especially "Sarru" because I know he loves to dance! A young man (Ed people) asks people from all over the world to "teach me your dance" The best one is 1. Best dance moves from around the world 2. Best india dance 🇮🇳
I am always surprised, how Babu and the guys are able to grasp our western music and understand every bit of it, but we (at least me) are not able to really understand their music.
I would love to see these three react to different songs by 'The Beach Boys' such as 'Komoko'. The music is so catchy and uplifting. I think they will love it!
Watching you react to this brought a tear to my eye. Loved that you were so memerised by Anuna because I always feel she brought in the atmosphere to introduce the dancers but didnt get as much praise as Jean and Michael ... But the whole thing happened when I was 14 years old, I remember watching it on TV live , being Irish in Ireland.... but no I cant dance like that ..actually I dont know anyone who Irish dances past school age 🤷🏼♀️ There are popular adult dancers but its not something you can do past I dunno...40?
Interesting I believe you also showed them Spanish Flamenco some time ago where the dancers are also part of the music. Another weird dance along the same line that might be interesting and entertaining to them (as it also shows of traditional attire) would be the south German and Austrian "Schuhplattler" ("German slap dancing") and the Kosatschok, the dance of the Cossacks (Ukraine/ Russia) would also be worth showing them imo.
I would love to have them see some of the old 1950's dance movies, Singing in the rain, White Christmas, Jeez, I can't remember them all, anything with Gene Kelley and friends. With their appreciation of Hindi movies (Which have lots of dance) it would be cool to have them see some movies from the heyday of American dance movies.... even Mary Poppins and other Dick Van Dyke movies would be good.
Fabulous performance. Michael Flatley is Michael Jackson's brother. Priceless!

No matter how many times I see that performance, it thrills me. Millions of people around the world love it, too.

That has to be one of the most entertaing reaction videos i have ever watched.
Always an emotional video.
We went to see them when they came to Australia and I know some people put them down I don't know why because the whole show was absolutely fantastic.
The Irish are known not only for the river dance… they also great at folk songs that tell stories.
I love their Celtic folk music. I was really into the Celtic Woman music over 20 years because I found it to be very beautiful and calming. As a matter of fact I listened to their music to help with my anxieties. Worked pretty much every time.

Love irish dance.
I loved their paying musical tribute to what they’d just seen!!!!!!
My Irish heart jumps for joy at your reaction!
IT changed everything we være all in awe
The video is 10yrs old.
Riverdance took place 30yrs ago.
Seeing Riverdance live was an experience I'll never forget! The sound of their feet reverberated through your soul. It was a whole body experience! ❤
I agree!! The show was AMAZING live!!!
I was one of the troupe!
@@saoirseclarnimhuiris7910 I’m very impressed! Such beautiful routines!
Babu's reaction and comments when the drums 🥁 start to play 👍😆😎

I was fortunate enough to watch their live performance. It moves the soul , the whole auditorium reverberated with the dance. So glad these gentlemen appreciated it.
Riverdance and Michael Jackson interwoven in a delightful reaction which had me grinning from ear to ear 😂
This only begs for you to show them Lord of the Dance next. Riverdance was exciting and breathtaking and Lord of the dance went even harder.
"I miss that boy Michael Jackson"
"Maybe that's his brother" 🤣
Lol
I'm so glad you guys liked it. Irish music and dance is such an integral part of our culture and me personally. Nothing better than Irish music against the sound of tap shoes, just magic! Much love from Ireland 💚🤍🧡 ✌🏻 x
The Irish are a blessing my friend. Love from America.
Irish all the way!
"She walks like a Peacock"😂

Great observation..
I’m loving the older gentleman! He was enjoying himself.
Thank you gentlemen for your kind comments.🇨🇮
You fellows are really neat!!
These men always cheer and appreciate people from all over the world- they never have a bad word to say about anything- se do g love from America!
Yes. They are an example to the world.
I also admire how they appreciate all forms of dance and music
Except fat people!

i am pretty sure they know what 'colonialism' is mate, morto
I am irish btw
It was also the church who frowned upon touching while dancing.
Love watching their reactions. Like seeing for the 1st time again
Love the fact you seemed emotional and appreciative - it was a great moment and remember it well

Big fan of the Celtic Women
Yes I hope we can keep it our government seams set on changing Ireland beyond recognition it makes me so sad to see what is happening 😢
@@deborahmcgee7970 They sre giving our country away to suit their own agenda. Traitors, every one of them.
What a beautiful and very real reaction. Thank you so much for reacting to our traditional dance. Love from Ireland ❤
"do this for 2 hours a day and you'll never be fat" babu, you got a hearty laugh from me
The downside is, do this dance 2 hours a day and the joints in your legs will be absolutely destroyed before you hit 40.
Wonder why the old guy lost his teeth, maybe they were knocked out for fat shaming someone.😂🤞🤞🤞
That whole ensemble was brilliant.
I've noticed Indian people always appreciate dance! This is a cool video

"A new birth" was the most apt and beautiful description. Ireland and India - soul spirits
Its a meeting, a courtship, and engagement, a wedding and a marriage celebration Irish style.
I love this, it's really beautiful ❤️❤️
The Irish are known for poetry..beautiful singing and dance. They tell the stories of their history through their musical gifts and poetry.
Pops not bringing up disco. 😆 I loved their reactions. These videos are so enjoyable and heartwarming.
