I have celiac disease so this is such a good idea for me. If you want to make the best pecan pie/dip of your life, use Lyles golden syrup instead of Karo. It’s harder to find but I’m telling you now, if you try it you’ll never go back
I’m still learning and incorporating my new knowledge into my own eating habits. However, I have learned that American grown corn is GMO corn unless it’s specifically says non-GMO or organic, which is hard to find. Corn syrup is not good for the gut at all.

The egg cooks when the topping boils on the cooktop. It adds body to the topping, just like it does in the pie. It isn't raw and it has a purpose. Calm down people.

Now take a couple loaves of French bread, cut in 2 inch slices make a slit in each 2-inch slice and stuff that inside and make French toast and drizzle some on top! You'll thank me later. 💚
The egg just adds some richness and some structure, similar to baking custards and other desserts. Probably can omit it might just alter the recipe slightly :)

I'm glad that you said golden syrup as Karo isn't sold in the UK. We can't get cool whip either so just whip up double Cream (heavy)
