  • Once you start dipping, you can’t stop. So, don’t stop. It’s a party, Or, at least I hope it’s a party, and not you skipping work, sitting alone in a seedy hotel room, eating an entire bowl all by yourself. Either way, I really hope you give this a try soon. Enjoy!

    I grew up with Cowboy Cookies, which were cookies with basically all the cookie fixin’s in them- walnuts, peanuts, macadamia nuts, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips,coconut, m&ms, raisins, dried cranberries, etc. I’ve always presumed the cowboy in recipe names were just another way of saying stone soup, everything but the kitchen sink, whatever’s in the fridge, etc. I think I like your explanation better.

    WE JUST MADE THIS
    And OMG
    We did use chicken tenders instead of sausage. Just did garlic, onion powder, chili powder, cayenne and some red pepper flakes. S&P. Baked those.
    Then for the cream cheese-
    Due to the cream cheese shortage I was only able to get 1 block of regular and 1 container of the jalapeño cream cheese. SO good. The rest we did the same. My 3 jalapeños were pretty mild.
    So much flavor in this we absolutely love it!!! Thanks Chef!!! 😍

  • @Scorpiogangg
    @Scorpiogangg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    A good way to soften the cream cheese if you forgot to leave it out to become room temperature is to take it out of the package & put it in a microwaveable safe bowl then microwave it for like 10 seconds & then mix it. If it’s still too hard after that, add a couple more seconds but don’t over do it cause it can melt (quickly) if you’re not careful 😊

It's how I warm up things like breakfast rolls or, yes, cream cheese for recipes.

    Heck, yeah, I love cowboy caviar and have some made up in the fridge most of the time. Not only is it great for dip, you can throw it on a tortilla with scrambled eggs and cheese for a breakfast burrito, or plop on top of hummus and eat with crudités for lunch. It’s the cold dip equivalent of this hot sausage dip (which traditionally is made with velveeta and Rotel - yep, velveeta 🧀)

    I made this again, probably for the 20th time. This time I modified the recipe a little: here in Texas we have HEB Grocery Stores, and they have their own Corn Chips, a.k.a Fritos (they are twice as good & half the price). At the very end of the recipe, I took a cup of Ghost Pepper Ranch Corn Chips and put them in a plastic bag, then pounded with a meat hammer. I sprinkled them over the cheddar cheese just before putting the pan in the oven.....so good!

    I think you’re right about the origin of the name. Corn, black beans and jalapeños are the staples in any “cowboy” recipe.

    1 package maple sausage, 1 lb hamburger. Cooked together and until browned. 1 pk cream cheese, chives, salt pepper and 2 table spoons of maple syrup. Once cream cheese is melted and blended well add two cups of cheddar cheese and serve. Absolutely tasty and easy! I add bowls of fresh tomatoes, and pepper jack on table for those who want an extra bit of taste.

    I would just add this comment, that I would recommend using yellow cheddar cheese for this dish. The flavor will be the same, but the white cheese ends up making a funky, unappetizing pink dip the color of raw chicken. Yellow cheese makes the whole thing look more like a queso dip which people invariably can't wait to eat.
