    • @luigipopescu93

      Language learning really works differently for different people :)
      Judging by your comment I guess you are on the side of those who have to always translate from their first language in their head before they speak :) But it is not so with everybody.
      I am a Romanian and I only started learning English when I was 11 but now I very rarely need to translate what I hear or what I speak. English has become my "second nature"... I find myself thinking in English very often, and speaking about chess, I have learned chess by online videos and websites which were always in English so there are terms that I don't even know in Romanian or I prefer to use in English anyway because they sound better and have more meaning than the Romanian translation.
      Now considering I am not genius, but probably just a guy with a little natural thing for learning languages, I believe Carlsen has absolutely no problem in playing chess while talking english to his viewers. :D

    • @iforgot383
      @iforgot383 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@luigipopescu93 Its not natural it all depends on how often you actually have to talk that language, lets say you play online games with voice chats where you basically have to speak english all the time that will help you get used to it and make it more natural but if you're not using english often and you rarely speak it then of course its gonna be hard to speak naturally.

    its amazing how well Magnus knows his lines, thats how they can play chess blindfolded so well, they dont need to see the board, they just know if opponent goes say E3, the correct response is E6, NE2, D5.....and then he just knows every theoretical move to follow. I'm still trying to learn the squares without counting, when he says E3, i have to look at the board and go A,B,C,D,E then count 1,2,3

    I’m old and was lucky enough to be at the speed chess tournament in 1970 in Herceg Novi when Fischer crushed the field. 17 wins 4 draws and only one loss (to Korchnoi .) There was no increment then just five minutes each for both players. Fischer played like a machine and rarely took longer than five seconds a move and with most moves made with literally after a one second thought. Bang! bang! bang! bang! bang! bang! Tal he crushed 2-0, Smyslov 2-0 Petrosian 2-0 and everyone was amazed at his speed of play. That speed only back-fired once against Korchnoi when he fell inexplicably into a well known opening trap in the Winawer, but that one loss apart, few of his games took more than ONE minute of his time and I remember that fact because my father stop watched Fischer’s thinking time. The longest “long think” was eleven seconds in his loss to Korchnoi. When he took the prize at the end he was smiling and the Russian players were clearly in awe of him. I think he’d have crushed Magnus simply because his speed of 1-2 seconds a move in 5 minute chess I never see from Magnus when Magnus is playing 5 minute games. Oh how Fischer reigned supreme in blitz. (bang bang bang bang bang . . . . .
