Beautifully done with the front wing. If this works well I may have to change mine to operate the same way. Lol Rear wings mount yes perfect. My experience if the upright wings were hit by a sideways force. The boat hard mount would split the upright wing down the center of the pocket. New design any direction for an impact sideways left/right, forward or backwards the wings can roll away from the bracket and break the screws.
Hey Big b, lookin awesome. I'm gonna mount my wing on my 1/8 scale Hydro kind of like the way your not wanting to mount the it, but in place of mounting screws to hold the wing into place, im gonna use some small earth magnets, so they bypass each other and make contact internally. You would have to experiment with diffrent size magnets, maybe in the 3-5 mm size would be a good place to start.Just a thought. Cant wait to see it on the water. The canard is lookin sweeet.
2 things I see is a LOT of slop in the control wire and how are you going to waterproof it. Those hinges might over time make the holes bigger. I like the thought of a controllable canard and can't wait to see the end product.
Like i mentioned in the video this is not the final setup, still in mock up stage! The canard pivot will be tight and I'm planning on using a capillary tube and music wire, not the flimsy wire seen in this POC video
@IRONCLADRC just an idea, when I built airplanes we'd use carbon fiber tubes and drill a hole on each end and bend an "L" in the end of the wire, put it in the hole and either tape it or put heat shrink on it. Then attach the wire like you have it. It prevented any bending and made the control much more responsive. Just a thought
So now the control decision…. Stand alone? Integrated with the throttle? Steering? Gyro? 🤔 You’ve got a good design going here. Anxious to see how effective it is on the water. 👍
I would leave your wing setup the way you got. for your wing mount, you can use a coupl small nylon bolts as a shear point if you crash and should save the win
Tie the front Canard into your throttle channel with a Y connector. Itll work with the throttle like the active wings for the Arrma limitless and felony.✌️
Hey Big, you get all the faith, I’ve seen your finished projects and you always nail it 👍
Stay warm, stay safe BGFL

Big B - on this project , we are doing , some advanced aero dynamics . 👏👏
Awesome work

Nice boat

I will probably run a gyro, but i also want to experiment with a few different control methods (all) lol
you could use and Futaba 401 gyro just need to water proof it and drop down the voltage to 4.8 v

Roger, that thanks you!
I was wondering how you were going to get the wing off, but didn’t want to say anything that sounded discouraging.
What are you going to use for a bellow on the carbon rod for the wing?
Shouldn't need a bellow, I will use a brass tube that is sealed off (capped off)
Are you going to have active control of the rear wing as well?
Tie the front Canard into your throttle channel with a Y connector.
Itll work with the throttle like the active wings for the Arrma limitless and felony.✌️
