"Writing this was a departure for Vicky and I but it may have been one of the most rewarding as songwriters. It allowed us to explore sounds and emotions we've always wanted to but could never quite get to in a metal setting. Also, working with Igor Khoroshev (Yes) really helped bring out the full depth of Vicky's piano and string arrangements. The lyrics were originally inspired by stories of the renaissance plague doctors. FTB Visuals was able to take these themes and create a modern world storyline with an equally dark overtone that captured the painful emotions in the song."

Love the song. People seriously need to chill out... not every metal song needs growls in it. If another metal band can have a slower and mellow song so can The Agonist. It's obviously never going to be the same without Alissa but I fucking love Vicky she has a killer voice, great on stage and is super awesome to talk to. That's what happens when you add new members music changes. For good or for worse, my opinion is that they sound awesome now (not that they didn't sound good with Alissa). Really like where they're going!

Surprised there aren't many haters. I am digging this. Might take a few more listens to get into it. Got the album on spotify but haven't listened to it thoroughly yet. Old singer was way too repetitive. I like how varied they are becoming. Makes it way easier to listen to. Usually with metal heads, they can't compute with change. They like the same thing over and over and if it ain't constantly screaming like Arch Enemy, they call it pop lol
It seems to me that the man with the hooded jacked is playing the role of death because he shows up right before somebody is about to die.

So different, soooo great, I love this song. Would not call it a typical Agonist number, but man this is song writing on a real high level.

Back to this sound...I hoped that there were more electric guitars and drums but many calm songs on different LP's are great to. And this one counts also.
Vicky go on to her full potential which was not used to 100% on 'Eye Of Providence' - furthermore you grew up with Alissa in front and that voice is really different.I really can't wait to hear more tracks of the upcoming LP and maybe there will be more great riffs and drum/basslines like before 😉

Idk what happened while recording, I mean, it could just be me, but apart from all the changes they've made with their music.. does anyone notice (well, you rather hear it out when listening to the chain or the ocean) the quality of the sound? what studio did record this? It sounds somewhat like the album was recorded through a weird filter.. This bothers me since the first time I've heard the album which was pretty much on the day it was released.
