"The Moment was probably the most exciting and demanding video I had to shoot so far. Chris (bassist / FTB Visuals director) came up to me with the idea to create a "storyline" with a close up of just my face singing the lyrics underwater. And we achieved it by building a box with a plexiglass panel that fit my head, while the rest of my body was standing and perfectly dry. I guess you could say it was scary and awkward to have just your head submerged underwater and a bit dangerous to have to perform the entire song in that position, but honestly, I wouldn't mind doing the whole thing all over again!"

Next to Despised Icon, Beneath The Massacre and Cryptopsy THE AGONIST seem to be designed to make it all the way to the top of the extreme metal scene with their fine-tuned mixture of melodic death metal and metalcore. “Five” makes the exceptional position of the Canadian fivepiece even clearer - as well as its goal to escape all things ordinary. Ever since singer Vicky Psarakis joined the group in 2014, THE AGONIST `s knack for touching melodies became much stronger (just give the lascivious ‘The raven eyes’ a whirl), and flirting with alternative rock turned into a habit. Still, there is enough palpable aggression in the air that discharges in technical death metal solos, beastly growls and massive breakdowns. THE AGONIST keep the throne of all things luscious, catchy yet indefinitely brutal!

It's amazing guys. You're awesome and this album is gonna kill it. Vicky is totally capable of it and she's doing a great job. Her voice is amazing

I disagree. Not talking about the singer, but since Alissa left The Agonist they became softer. That's my point of view. Actually I think both are great singers, but Vicky is more like symphonic metal voice and I think that's what changed it's sound. And Alissa sounds great in both bands.

Good. The sound seems greed more towards the rock and roll side. Vicky's vocals sound super brutal here though. Her growls are the best I've heard from her so far on this track.

It's official, I like this singer more than the original. Sounds less typical melodic death metal and more natural. She has a much better voice and flow and it's paced much better. The original Alissa was great for certain songs but meh never could listen for long periods

why is it that 99% of modern metal has either this over the top cookie monster screaming or when it's clean vocals then it's these layered vocals sounding like some pop song can't we have something in-between it's getting harder and harder to find truly menacing screams in metal and i can't believe im saying this im generally getting tired of the screaming altogether i would rather listen to instrumental versions of most songs that are coming out these days
Tbh I think that's why I stopped listening to really heavy metal, the vocals are pretty terrible. Then I moved to the multi layered poppy stuff... And soundtracks.
Dude, no idea if you already know of him, go listen to Devin Townsend, he is the metal master! Everything he makes is epic! There is a great retrospective on TH-cam that is perfect for introducing him to new people as he has a titanic amount of material out

1) You can, but it has a volume effect on it. 2) The "producer" or director is Chris Kells, the bassist, so I'm sure he is well aware hence why that shot is that shot.

It reminds me of some of their older stuff like A Bird Elopes The Sun and Tempest. I'm a big fan. Can't wait for the album.
If it were slowed down and lazy on the screaming that was a really bad comparison. This stuff is so below the standard of what this band is capable of I mean really. Use to love this band and gave Vicky a chance but they are turning something from unique into a generic mockery of it's former self.

Making comparisons to the old stuff predominantly Lullabies with this mellowed new direction stuff have nothing in common whatsoever. You're entitled to your opinion but we all know this is not the same band and if you read the comments you'd see this band is losing a lot of their fans.

Don't know if you're being sarcastic but if not then here it goes. As far as the melody I'm not sure how this type of song would trigger your memory of older material. I hear it and just see a musical direction that is near from what I thought this band once was. And as far losing fans check out the comments on this video and their other song "The Chain." The comment sections aren't that thrilled with the new direction and music coming from this band. I'm open minded myself I gave Eye of Providence a chance it's alright even if it's watered down version of them with some signs of whats to come being this.
i love this band so much that anything they put out im doing a vocal cover for !!:D i really really have loved this band for years man you guys always blow my mind years after years!!and this year my voice is finnaly able to keep up with you guys yes ive been practicing the agonist everyday for years i feel like i would make a great vocalist for this band however im not trying to take over the agonist i just wish one day i could harmonize with the new singer her vocals are pritty unique

This is great! After 'The Chain' I was skeptical but this song is so much better :D Feels so good to finally like a The Agonist song upon release :) Growls could be better but Vicky's cleans are majestic ^^ Still missing some of their usual complexity but oh well...

Favorite song
The song is great and I don't get why is there so much negativity around it? With Vicky as the singer solos and riffs are more frequent throughout the songs and the lyrics may lack the old complexity but they're still nice.

I think this is a great song. Of course there will always be a comparison with Alissa but anyway: I think Vicky gives this band a great new touch, not a worse one:-) I love Arch enemy and The agonist independent from each other
Not trying to be mean but have you read most of the comments? And have you heard the previous material compare to this? I mean the quality on all fronts went down except the cleans if anything. Besides I heard some previews to the new album the backlash is only going to get worse. I myself don't like this direction for them but I do kind of like this song. And the Agonist was better Alissa hands down but it's probably time to call it a day with the band if the music is only going to get softer from here.

I hear where you're coming from but that's not what I'm trying to do. The band is doing that themselves while some may love the new direction the rest will not. And so far across the board not a lot of people are digging the new direction including myself. Theirs a few songs that are okay but other than that nothing there really. And that's what an Agonist should ever be nothing interesting to listen too. When they had the world in the hands from how amazing they were until now it seems but it is what it is.
