Ever since singer Vicky Psarakis joined the group in 2014, THE AGONIST `s knack for touching melodies became much stronger (just give the lascivious ‘The raven eyes’ a whirl), and flirting with alternative rock turned into a habit. Still, there is enough palpable aggression in the air that discharges in technical death metal solos, beastly growls and massive breakdowns. Bands are always evolving. Alissa left. So was The Agonist just supposed to stop making music? Sure it's different. But every band goes through changes throughout their careers. Even when their lead vocals stay in the band. I dig the new sound. If they replaced Alissa with someone who sounded exactly like her we'd all be like....?? I like Vicky. A lot. For what the band is now.
I'm a fan of The Agonist since Once Only Imagined. The Agonist is one of my favorites bands. I liked with Alissa but with Vicky ... The Agonist is better .. I love it, I love her voice, the music, the lyrics, the image, is all new.. and is fine for me, I like a lot.

Real fan does not mean liking everything a band does. Any actual fan will admit that this is far from as great as Prisoners/Lulabies, regardless of if he likes it or not.
If being a real fan is eating up all the stuff the band puts out without question, you're damn right I'm not a "real" fan, I'll be just a simple fan. Eye Of Providence wasn't as bad, but I just don't like the last album and the direction they're taking.
The irony? Tomorrow night I'll be seeing them with Epica and Fleshgod Apocalypse, so I hope they'll play some old stuff too (as they did last year when I saw them with Eluveitie, they played some Eye Of Providence and some classics).
Stinker4583 at least they sound different in each album and aren't repetitive. I love all of the albums they've made. I still respect your opinion even if I don't agree.

Sorry the longing people, but bands move on, they change, people change. Vicky is a far better singer than Alissa, she has far more range and knowledge on how to use her voice in such different ways, that is, for me, evolution for the band as a whole. I really understand the folks that says that miss Alissa and stuff, me as a Trivium fanboy, was very disappointed when Matt slowed down on screaming, but after listening again again to the new albums I started to appreciate and understand the evolution in sound quality for the band as a whole. Agonist with Alissa was pretty aggressive, it had those major hits, but most of the album was just Nu Metal from 90's with very few clean vocals and rap style singing, sorry guys, that's does not involve anyone, it's like impossible to learn a song with vocals you can't even understand. Well, that's just my opinion.

I don't really mind the changes since Alissa left. I did like her a bit better, but they're still good. The sound change that's happened isn't really bad, just different. So many purists get way too set in their ways to enjoy something new.

Vocals are really good but the instrument doesn't allow us to make sense whether it's prog style heavy or slow style. All in all vickys voice is good and she's improving

indeed, Eye of Providence was excellent melodic death metal and it was by far the best The Agonist album, and to me one of the best albums that whole year. This isn't that good to me, not at all. btw: the new Dark Tranquillity album is amazing

I have been warming up to this album, but it's taken longer for me than most Agonist albums. It's certainly no Eye of Providence, but it does have some good tracks.

Alissa drew quite a fine line between her cleans and uncleans, and then Vicky hlurred that line bere and took it to another level to highlight the agony of loss, that's why I love this song so much

I really don't like comparing and arguing about (in case of any band) which singer (old or new) is better, but in this case I have to say that new Agonist's songs really sucks and without Alissa they are not Agonist anymore :( Big pitty, you were my favourite band.
Ivana Karabová well you're actually just comparing right now. Alissa wasn't the entire band and that chapter ended with her and now this is a brand new chapter with Vicky instead. I love the new album and at least every album sounds different unlike so many bands out there.
This song isn't really convincing anyone that this band has gotten better but I understand the dedication that was made towards David Bowie. With that said this should be made the official lyric video instead. Boy how the Agonist have fallen look where they are today use to be one of my favorite bands too. It's sad really!
