Vocalist Vicky Psarkis adds, “Being in THE AGONIST for over 2 years now and after releasing my debut album with the band and numerous tours, I can say that Five is the record where I believe that we finally found our sound! There's a certain confidence that comes with experience and there's something about being fully comfortable that can take your approach towards songwriting to a whole other level. Working on the lyrics and vocals on this album was an incredibly natural process. Halfway into the pre-production, we realized that a lot of our songs seemed to be telling a story and hearing the album in its entirety is like escaping into our world.”

It feels like Vicky's voice ability increased (maybe its the new producer) and I like that. This is not best song they made but is not bad either. Really looking forward for this album.
P.S: Please fire the guy who did Vicky's make up/photoshop.
I think her vocals in this one have a lot to do with production, she seems to have one of those voices if you don't record it well it kind of cuts out like in My Witness, Your Victim, I think she sang that song a lot better than the album showed. some of the old covers I found she did recently are amazing, she does a Nightwish songs and sings both the Tarja and Marco parts. And yea I was like wtf who is that new chick, doesn't even look like Vicky
And the dude on the left looks like Seth Rollins :D And no, don't fire the guy, who knows who makes the decision on what to do for the promo pics? ;-) Maybe she wanted that outfit, make up, etc. Let's focus on the music! ^^
this is not good trust me, they need to do a lot better, they are sinking fast and Alissa is gone.
On the contrary, I think her harsh vocals are becoming closer to screamo shit than before and less death/black metal style like she had on the previous album.
If you look at her TH-cam channel, her vocal range is NUTS.

Eye Of Providence was one of my favourite albums of last year... but this is missing that magic

I actually like the "no fucks given" vocals on the agonist's new album. It's not overly processed trash made for the elitist tools of 2016.
It's pretty good, but I do hope this is one of the weaker songs off the new album.
Also the picture of the band.. Vicky does not look like herself at all o.o

The more I listen, the more I like it. Definitely a grower.
This is definitely a marked evolution of their sound, and I can see why people may not be super thrilled with the apparent direction their taking based on this song, but I still think this sounds great so I'll definitely continue to support them.

An improvement over most of "Eye of Providence" if you ask me, but it also becomes clear to me the days of "Lullabies of a Dormant Mind" and "Prisoners" are long gone...
Lyrics remind me so much of Les Miserables. The "barricade" and the "revolution". They sound so.. new. It's very different from Eye of Providence. Im excited how the rest of the album would turn out.
I have been listening to this song non-stop. I know it's not like their previous stuff, which in my opinion is a positive thing. Bands need to experiment with their music or else it just gets boring and everything sounds the same.
I've just heard their recent album and noticed that especially Vicky really has improved. You are able to hear progress in her voice, thats awesome :)

i like this evolution! the agonist seems going good, I think this album will be awesome, more than I can expect right now. this song is amazing, I love it. bad comments or critics are part of all in musical business and I respect this but in my opinion it's pretty good!! can't wait to listen to the whole record as well. It starts weird, the sound is kinda... weaker? I love the vocal melodies, the backing vocals, it grows on me, yet... what's strange about this song? Is it that the vocals are way too loud and the instrumental is too quiet? I miss the modern, powerful, stomping sound. Is there any time to fix this? As a journalist I'll have the album a bit earlier which is so fn great, because now I really want to know how the rest of the songs sound. Come on, Napalm, send them promos! :D

About the previous album i have the same thought, when i listen to it first time: It's bad, really bad, but after couple of listens the album grows in my eyes, think that it will be the same with this one.

I really liked their last album but this is kind of weird, not bad though I guess.
For some reason I hated it when I first heard it yesterday. Today, I'm listening for a third time, and it actually is quite good. Though I still have hopes that someday they'll surpass Prisoners, which in my opinion might be the best album ever made by any band, ever.

I think the vocals and instruments are too diverse, however they both sound good.

This is one of best songs from Vicky because its melodic its catchy and have all the alissa style in this song and this is why i think is one of the best from vicky

I discovered The Agonist recently. And... after I listened widely their songs (with Alissa and Vicky), well... I think I prefer what is being done now with Vicky. Like I prefer what's being done now with Arch Enemy and Alissa.

Looking forward to the release of Five
This is nothing more than my opinion, but, for me, The Agonist vanished when I listened to this. They used to be my favourite band, and then, the line-up changed, they couldn't find a decent replacement for Alissa White-Gluz, their lyrics became uninspired and their music has become more and more mainstream in terms of composition. And for those saying the vocals are out place, of course they are. Vicky isn't a metal singer, let alone a metal screamer, and she gets out of tone. A LOT. I don't mean to go against anyone's tastes; again, this is just a simple opinion. But my favourite band has let me down, painfully. Eye of Providence was a warning of what was to come, but I dared hope, and that hope was in vain. The Agonist, the true essence of the band, lies with the original line-up, with Alissa White-Gluz, and in the three first studio albums: Once Only Imagined, Lullabies for the Dormant Mind, and Prisoners, where the real poetry exists in the lyrics, and where the heart of the band rests in the musical compositions. For the band's fans who understand me, we'll always have the first three albums. But now, I'm afraid it's time to move on...

They have a new vocalist. They used to have Alissa White-Gluz as vocalist until 2014. She was replaced with Vicky Psarakis.
Heinrich I know that.it's just Vicky's voice changed alot since her 2014 Album.
Yes, That happens as an artist trains their voice to scream. She's also 2 years older and has done a lot of live performance, so her voice has 'hardened' a bit I think. I'm hoping that this CD shows her wide range of vocal abilities.

The Agonist can be most brutal and harmonic , like in "Danse Macabre" , "Everybody Wants You Dead" , "Gates Of Horn And Ivory" . Vicky have a great voice , but he must explore this side melodic

Fuck haters, I love it, vocals are as brilliant as the rest of instruments, and it kinda sorta reminds me of "Thank You, Pain" (don't ask me why). Once more I love it and I shun you for the torture of waiting another 2 months for the whole package! :-)

I like the song but I gotta notice that it sounds kind of unfinished. On the other hand, their sound has improved a lot. It's still the same The Agonist, same signature sound but quality is much better.

the guitars and the drums sound amazing, but in some parts of the vocals ,especially the guttural parts,sound a bit forced, but I dig it!
