- After some back and forth, we decided to give shorts a try. In this format we might be able to bring back short but high quality tech videos, similar to the ones many of you know us for, from the good old times. We're starting with a new tech called Jab Ledge Slip. Enjoy!

There's only so much content you can make like this when most of the stuff for the game has been figured out already. Game's old.
@@RennX21 not really. Especially since right now more Things are being discovered than in the last 2 years combined. And the Game being "old" is also an exaggeration, Melee is way older and still gets new Techs. Do you really think a 4-year old Game with almost 100 Characters has discovered everything already? The Tech Scene seems to be reviving atm.
@@dieblauebedrohung maybe the idea that the game is "runing out of things" as well as it being old isn't true, but things aren't being discovered as fast as they used to. It takes time for these things to be discovered, thus less content like this would be made
@@twizzlyblue1241 yeah, definitely. And while I'm wondering why it took so long for Discoveries to reappear, I'm glad about it.
Doesn't change that I disliked the development of the BSD Channel and thus I'm happy to see them tackle Mechanics and Techs again, which was the Point of the Comment, regardless of their possible Reasons. Whether there were Things to cover or not, I'm happy that they found something to cover again.

It is a very fun combo, the problem is just how useless it is. Just Up Tilting or reading mash is usually better and definitly WORLDS more consistent

As an Ultimate player, I agree 1000% lol ledge cancels are religiously done in melee lol even at entry low levels at locals--- goes to show how insane the skill ceiling is
Now we just need a graphic or something that shows each character that can do this, that would be super helpful because this tech is probably gonna be huge
yeah, but since it’s so new, don’t expect one for at least a week, discoveries are being made by the hour
@@uncreativecow5429 yeah ofc, things take time and it is such a new tech. I just can't wait to see what people figure out with it
This is a Personal opinion, however I don't think the tech is that huge considering it must be conditioned, it doesn't work on the entire cast and seems to just be an extension tool at most, considering you must be at ledge for edge gaurd set ups it can be very tricky, and for platforms you still need to get on top of it, input something that can allow you to buffer the jab etc, it can be a good mix up but that's it
@@fzerandgat9180 I mostly agree with you, but don't forget that you can use this to quickly cover ledge without accidentally grabbing it. It can also be a quick (albeit slower) substitute for instant ledge trumping.
As a k rool main I've known about this for like a year, I feel like a lot of other k rools I know have also been aware of this for a while
Yea because I discovered it for krool a year ago, but then I recently figured out the tech works on other characters

Funny thing is, I’ve been using this for at least 1-2 years as KKR, I honestly didn’t think it was all that amazing because it was hard to hit anything out of it, but it’s cool to see that it can be done with other characters too!

The Villager community has figured this out from like day 2 of ultimate. You just use watering can and move towards the ledge and hold jab.

Villagers have been doing this for years with watering can..
I remember sending a short video of the same thing (with K. Rool) to some Discord friends back in August of last year. Never thought it would go anywhere, and just kinda goofed around with it.
No. I'm not taking credit for it. Whoever found it released it to the public, I just shared it amongst friends.

In any other game, getting stuck on a ledge would be considered either a glitch, or a way to prevent a player from going out of bounds

The problem really kinda is how nearly all JLS stuff that looks useful is connected to Bury D Throws (Rool and Banjo) and all only work if there is like no mash or another, way easier follow up that does better already. The only JLS thing that I see being useful at times is Snake who can JLS into instant c4 onto the side of the stage
I got curious so I found a related thread on twitter - the characters confirmed to be able to do this are charizard, bowser, krool, banjo, and villager

@@UngaBungaSsbu It's just like bowser - flame thrower then buffer jab. Just checked twitter again, found a thread where some guy Pentox55 posted it
Note that this was possible and very practical on specific characters in smash 4, but only when facing away from the ledge.
as a smash 4 mac main...rapid jab cancel into KO punch or up special is something I dearly miss haha
I feel like a lot of people have been doing this accidentally for a very long time and it's just now been found how to do it on purpose.

I like to think a secret organization already knew about this tech within a small circle of the competitive community but kept it a tight secret until the game was no longer being supported so that it wouldn't be patched.

Me and my brother randomly found this whilst I was play king k rool
This has been known in the BK community since... day 2(?) after the character came out. [DThrow at ledge -> Double Jab -> Fall off/side b/fastfall nair] has been known as the one-tooie for a long time, as far as I'm aware. It pops the opponent down out of the bury animation too, it's super useful.
The fact that the majority of us had been knew about this, but never really brought it to attention.
I’m gonna be completely honest, this happened to me the day the game came out. I was playing Luigi’s classic mode and the match against the multiple Toon Links, I was doing Luigi’s jab and he slipped off the edge after his third attack, but I thought that was because I was physically pushed by one of the other Toon Links. That’s cool to know that this is actually a thing
Falco could do this in smash 4 just by multi jabbing someone on ledge lol
this is actually hype, I hope commentators take notes to call out these types of special cancels
A new trick that only certain characters can take advantage of. Sounds about right for this game.

Its only now that people discover interractions when you use techniques that make you drop off a ledge? it really truly shows how small the competitive scene is
This may also offer an explanation as to why sometimes my second jump wasn't there. If it was cancelled
people might not realise, but taking lag away from a ledge drop is huge
This is a loop to which you'll notice if you pay attention to the gameplay from the beginning and from the end and how the 2 syncs perfectly together.

It’s awesome when random but extremely relevant things like this get found, the fact that it’s so long after release makes it even more cool! If the game was still receiving patches, you just know this would get patched out.

I actually learned this in elite smash while playing wario the other day. I misinput jab while trying to get a nair and ended up doing this cause I was mashing

Banjo is my main and I regularly have this happen.
It's a whole lot easier to see it happen if you do it on a ledge that is slippery.

Finally! Super Smash Bros Ultimate is *finally* a Smash with its own unique movement tech! It's not as free as say, wavedashing and whatever Brawl had (I forgot). But it's *something!* And it's *new!* And *unique!*
