@@ericabaysinger6343nasty to use a dishwasher to get food grease off of that is nasty but getting food grease off pots and pans and plates isn't gross? Odd
Completely cover it with a good oven cleaner, wrap it with a cling film, leave it for 45 mins to an hour. Then watch how the grease comes off. Obviously, try a little bit first and see if It'll be ok to be used on your fan first
@oink714 Spraying oven cleaner up and into the fan can be extremely dangerous for the eyes and respiration. Don't do it! Spray the fan and inside the hood with the Dawn Power Wash Dish spray, taking care not to inhale it or get into your eyes, and let it soak with a towel spread on your cold Stovetop to catch the grease that will drip off. Use a soapy Scrub Daddy to scrub the hood and fan blades. Then spray it all with vinegar to rinse. Your kitchen will smell wonderfully clean!
My husband places a plastic sheet under it, fixing it on the hood's sides so it doesn't make a mess. Then spray it with degreaser, leve it for half an hour and wipe with a cloth, rincing it from time to time until it's clean.
There's an easier way though... Bring a giant pot of water to a boil. Add baking soda SLOWLY until it fizzes up really good. (Be careful it doesn't bubble over and out of the pot) Dip the filters in for about 60 seconds, remove tongs, et voila! Sparkly vent filters with absolutely zero scrubbing OR waiting around. 😊
We recently bought our house and I pulled the hood filters - four days of degreasing and soaking and scrubbing - it looked good but still felt sticky. Apparently, this house which was built in the 90s never had inhabitants who thought to clean the range hood filters. Sigh - Houses should come with a checklist of stuff that should be cleaned, a type of cleaning maintenance list.
That type of neglect can still be cleaned spotless just buy a bottle of inexpensive automatic dishwasher detergent gel (Not the pods, tablets or powders, the gel) set the filters in a rimmed cookie sheet to catch the drips. squirt the gel on the filters full strength painting a generous coat of gel on both sides to completely cover the entire mesh. Leave over night. By morning the enzymes in the dishwasher formula will have dissolved all of the polymerizes oils stuck on the screen. Dish brush and a sink full of hot water should wash the detergent and gunk off without scrubbing. One jug of house brand dishwasher gel will last years.
@@Boobtube. The mild acid in the dishwasher will eat up the protective aluminium oxide and then corrode the aluminum turning it black. The most powerful remover of paint, oils, fats and rust, and they do not talk about it because it is cheap, is caustic soda for $5. Caustic soda removes car paint. For fifty years, we have been using it to remove the paint of heating radiators on which dozens of layers of paint have formed, and to remove grease and oils from equipment and machinery. There is nothing stronger than caustic soda and all paint removal and cleaning materials contain caustic soda. Just place the pieces that are soiled with fats and oils, or from which you want to remove paint, in a basin and sprinkle caustic soda on them, then warm or hot water if the layers are thick with fats, oils, and paint. A new one will come back in a minute
The cleaning method I watched on another video the guy just used easy off, then placed the filter in a zip lock bag. Waited the allotted time, and voila c’est magnifique.

I immerse and soak the filters overnight in a solution made of caustic soda in hot water. The next morning i just have to take out the filters and simply spray plain water on them. No need to scrub and scratch. Super clean!

Happy to help!!

I use the top rack of the dishwasher with a load of dirty dishes.....works awesomely!
I put it in the bottom rack, and only with pans, I don't want all that grease dripping on dishes.
The dishwasher would be my first choice.
Thats nasty yall lazy
Me too, on the bottom rack. I have two of them to clean. Run it on pots and pans setting and it comes out perfectly clean. 😃

Steam ,,if you wash it your filter with soap then put it in your dish washer do this once week

I agree steam is the best option, oven cleaners are literally poison.

Quickest ad easiest way I clean my filter is warm water and a half cup of laundry powder, it just comes off straight away no scrubbing or soaking 👌🏻👍🏻
Nice to see this now, after I went and bought a new one. Yours does look good as new.
I have always put mine in the dishwasher and it cleans it great.
I use automotive degreaser on ours!

I’ve used cascade dishwasher detergent and it’s like magic!
😂 I buy new ones for 2 bucks a piece.. They're disposable and washing them breaks down the charcoal in the filter.
Again. Reminded that spray etc need to stay before scrub or rinse.
I just cleaned mine with Dawn, boiling water and Mean Green 😮
I was wondering how to wash this. Thank you!
The best thing is washing powder. Soak it in hot water and washing powder overnight. Leave in clean water for 30 minutes afterward to rinse.
I love these videos.

Great work fr
Easy to buy a new filter at Home Depot.
You need to be careful with those filters. Those frames bend super easy.
Exactly...
Fill the sink with hot water, put some oxyclean, put the filter in boom instantly melts the grease. I'm usually done in 10 minutes.
Love Dawn power wash. Thanks for the tip, I always forget about the range hood filter.
That one looked great compared to mine, lol.
The grease can clog up the drain. Use a plastic pan and throw the water in the garden etc.
Simply boil some water, add bicarbonate soda and some aluminum foil. Dip one half of the filter at a time and voilà, no chemicals, no scrubbing, it comes out as good as new every time!
Blue Dawn cleans sheep fleece. There is a learning curve though.
Dishwasher is doing the same work just without you scrubbing 😂

Thanks I forget to clean that some time. I need to put that on my phone to do once a month
Dawn is daBomb! Personally I would’ve used a degreaser first, but obviously this worked.
Easier way use liquid dishwasher soap in hot water 10 min rinse. No scubing I used this for years on on some really nasty ones.
I just use Easy Off. The old fashion kind. Cleans perfectly. Dried grease is what it was made for.

Much simpler method if you have a dishwasher. Just place inside and wash with the normal load.
In the dishwasher, max temp setting. Do it regularly and you won't have it pile up so much grease.
