    Such a great guide! Love how it’s realistic and shows the reality of scraping with the razor blade, doing lots of passes and scrubbing and not just all being perfect in the first wipe.
    I’m a professional cleaner and this is exactly what I do (albeit with different chemicals)

      It wasn't until i watched Midwest Magic Cleaning that i learned that cleaning is best thought of as removing layers.
      If you're cleaning an extremely dirty object, like years of caked on grease. You have to attack it multiple times.
      The cleaner can only take off a small layer. You have to repeatedly add cleaner, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe off the dissolved dirt and grime, and repeat till the grime is gone
      Then you can do a final sanitization pass

    My GE microwave from 2005 finally crapped out. At first th-cam.com/users/postUgkxO_Bc204MGjxDl87cOKcdgaRhzSqGmv_g I was unsure because I was looking for something with the exact same features. Found it with this one. Interior space cavity was large, but the outside was smaller than my old one. I love the one-button push for 1-6 minutes, and the 30 second add or 30 second start. and MOST IMPORTANTLY, I love how you can adjust the power level during cooking. The reviews said it could not be done, but this marked all the other boxes. and happy to say, it does. I can hit 1 minute start, and change the power level from 10 to 5, 30 seconds in, without interruption. my favorite feature!

    Oven mats, wiping the door after each use, and wiping the interior after I cook something steamy has kept my oven pretty clean for the last 2 years. Wiping the door was a habit I got from my mom. I picked up the mats on a whim at the dollar store and holy cow was that a life changing decision. I started wiping the inside after spilling something once and realizing how easy it was to clean the sides while they were still steamy. Outside of spills, I have not cleaned my oven like this in 2 years.

    I found baking soda / vinegar did absolutely nothing to my oven. It made it even more of a mess. Easy-off oven cleaner and a steel scrubbing pad was the only thing that worked for me. sometimes you have to let go of your reluctance to use heavy duty chemicals because nothing else works

      Yeah, my oven wasn't bad but did have some baked in grease. Baking soda didn't remove it and the baking soda itself was very difficult to remove especially from crevasses.

    The dishwasher pod trick for the oven racks was brilliant. The grease melted right off after an hour of soaking and only needed minimal scrubbing to finish cleaning them right up. Thanks!

    How do you rinse your scrub mommy and scour daddy during the cleaning? Thanks in advance!

    Be careful with using a razor blade to scrape the inside surfaces. You may scratch or gouge the finish. Some oven have a porcelain finish.

    This is very helpful and very specific which is important! I cleaned my oven earlier in the year and didn't get magical results but it was better. I like how you noted to do it more than one time and also to use a razor blade. I also think I will try the zep. I have done the baking soda clean which worked about the same as any other cleaner. I can see by watching you that technique and timing matter and it's good to see that effort clearly illustrated! The idea of dish pods for the racks and using a storage tub to soak them is also brilliant! My stove is probably from the early 80's! It came with the house and is double wide with a proofing oven on the side and a large space in the middle of the burners. It would be hard to find a good replacement!

      I bought my home in 2017. I would rather have your old stove with the proofing oven. We both need to take care of what we have.😊

      On older stove tops, with burners, that razor scraping tool works wonders in take on any baked-on food. Just get the angle on the blade right and don't scratch top.

    Hi Brandon, from a cold and snowy London in England, UK! 🥶
    Do you have any tips on how to clean the top part of inside an oven please? In all the videos of “how to clean an oven”, not one of them has ever even mentioned this part. I have mobility problems and find trying to work around the heating element very difficult. Any help hints or tips you may have would be very much appreciated! 😊 Saturday 17th December 2022 - 18:20 GMT

      Hello, it’s actually snowing by me here in Wisconsin, US! That’s a great question. In most cases I will scrub and wipe down the best I can given the space. Unfortunately I have any hacks for that part (yet). Let me think on it a little more and see if I come up with anything. Thanks so much for watching, stay warm! 🙂

    I cannot use dishwasher pods with fragrances. So, I'll need to find other options.
    I must use nontoxic cleaners.
    No dawn!
    The oven was horrible when I moved in. I didn't make it nasty and haven't used it. I only use the stove. But, it needs cleaning.

    Oh, good. That's what I did last weekend before starting a meal.
    I wasn't looking to do a thorough cleaning that day; I just wanted to remove the big stuff.

    Is there a safe way to dispose of the grease from your scrubbers and towels afterwards?

    • @gearheadpatriot3709
      @gearheadpatriot3709 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally, I use a spatula to remove most of it and trash it. You never want to put it down the drain. Then go on to paper towels for the worst and follow up with your sponge and rags.

    My oven repair man suggested using Barkeeper’s Friend - thoughts on that vs baking soda?

    • @CleanThatUp
      @CleanThatUp  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I absolutely love Bar Keepers Friend! It can work well for ovens. If you have a lot of grease I might suggest using a degreaser before to break down the grime. Then rinse and come through with BKF.

    Soaking the oven shelves in non bio washing powder and boiling water is more effective than dishwasher pods. You can also make a much more concentrated solution. Leave overnight preferably and then to clean quickly use a metal or abrasive scourer. You don’t need to be concerned about scratching the grill shelves.
