Dr. Kuhn, I am 72 yrs old was diagnosed 6 months ago with DDD and Sciatica. I tried physical therapy and pain meds, By month 4 1/2 I had found no relief and no encouragement. I began to think of myself as disabled. I was considering a mobility scooter so I could at least exercise my dog. Then I found your videos on TH-cam. You presented a hopeful, easy to understand, practical approach to these conditions and after one week I was back on my feet and moving. Three weeks later I feel so much better I can't believe I spent 4 months suffering before I got here. I thank you and my pups thank you too. I went from having to roll around the house on a rolling chair, to now walking 1/2 mile a day. I'm working my up up to a whole mile. Thank you so much! Ann
Your videos are incredibly helpful. I initially started watching for my dad who has trouble walking, but I find your exercises are actually great for the whole family! Thank you so much.
Your consistent loving encouragement for us arthritis “niks” motivates me to improve my hip arthritis. Both while watching your videos and in mental recall at times stiffness sets in, I enthusiastically try the movements you give us! Your work has given me strength to create mobilityI had started to feel would be forever lost.
After I had Covid Christmas last year I delt with activated osteoarthritis for the better part of 2024, basically shutting down my left hip joint and causing weird pain patterns throughout my entire body. After 9 month it´s finally getting better. To find the right balance between exercise and rest was the biggest challenge. Your channel was very helpfull in doing so. This video provides some ideas for the very problem I do face right now. Cheers, Alyssa, and thx a ton!
Covid flared up my knee arthritis. Thus is the first time I’m reading that it caused other peoples too. I could cry, people looked at me crazy when I told them Covid caused it.
I am 90 years old , can walk 20 minutes then I start to feel weak. if I do these warm up exercises will I feel stronger. I love to walk but need to feel I can do it comfortably. Thank you. Great video.
I love to walk but since last May I am unable to w/o the help of a cane. Previously had occasional arthritis in left hip. I could walk at least 20 minutes. Now I walk in an apartment with a rollater. I can't believe how quickly I lost my ability to go for walks. Was diagnosed with degenerative joint disease. Was not from Covid. Only had 1st 2 Moderns vax & recurring hip ache didn't start for 2 .years. pain is kind of gnawing but not constant. Understand importance of exercising but how when knee & hip are so stiff it's difficult to move.
I love how my job has us do warm-up exercises before work. No one has said what kinda things to do, this gives me ideas especially this video. I have new knee arthritis. 🥰😍
This is my ultimate goal is to walk longer because of past falls and fear of falling ive tried cycling indoors but also do chair yoga once a week. Ive had bursitis for over two years but being sick always sets me back having Covid in july i finally feel almost myself but seeing that i cant walk as far as i like but proud im able to walk through Costco the other day usually use the scooter but i kust listen to my body most times if i go to the store at the end of the day i tend to use a scooter and also i have arthritis on my left knee luckily i stretch everyday do yoga stretches before going out anywhere
Thank you this is really helpful, I’m recovering a fall down stairs into wk no 7, affecting my lower back sacrum & coccyx areas & needing to carefully exercise, all been a painful process but persevering, your channel is a help, watching from North UK 👏👏🌟🌸🌷🌸
😊I’ve just done this walking one as at 72 I’m seizing up and rocking from side to side to side and my core weak due to osteoporosis please keep your videos coming
Perfect validation for where I'm at today! I wrote in my journal this morning: "Trust the process. Progress is not linear. You got this!" Today i was feeling stronger and was able to walk, in my apartment, using a rollator, 10 minutes. That's five more minutes than what I've been able to walk in one go, in months! Yeah! Getting stronger. Consistency pays off. We got this! Thank you Dr Alyssa for what you do! 🤗💕✨
From Calicut Kerala India with ❤ following your video's yesterday we wife 💕 son daughter in law 🎉 spent 3 pm to 8 pm we were out on a picnic your exercises helped me 🎉 thanks 😊
I've seen another video saying that activating the quads is not a good thing at all of you have knee pain - his explanation sounds completely believable and he is an expert in dealing with osteoarthritis. Since seeing it I Have avoided anything involving my quads including walking and driving. What are your thoughts please?
Thank you Alyssa, I have been following your exercises for few weeks now, I must say these exercises turned me into more confidence and determination in my journey of Healing myself from RA.. You are excellent...your approach is so empowering you put us at ease and comfort with those exercises.. From India, Bangalore
I wish I found your channel earlier! I'm a 30 year old dude with ankylosing spondylitis and I've had problems with juvenile arthritis since I was 10 and got a new diagnosis (ankylosing spondylitis) at 20. Needless to say, walking isn't easy 😅. Neither is just standing for that matter. Can't wait to try the exercises you are showing and also to check your other videos! Thank you 🙏. Bamboo guy out! 😂
I keep trying all of your strengthening, limping, walking, etc. exercises. I have had a complete torn ACL in my right knee for the past three years. Osteoarthritis has set in. Many PT sessions. No change in the pain level. I cannot put any pressure on my right leg without excruciating pain. I opted out of any surgery due to my 'mature' age. The pain when doing these exercises impedes my progress. I'm trying! Is there any hope for me to gain any ability to walk again without pain?
Thank you for the very helpful videos... Would you be able to do a video on(painful) midfoot arthritis and osteoarthritis affecting the toes ..please?.....to help with pain-free mobility and walking....thank you ❤
Love, love, love your videos. They have been and continue to provide much relief for me as I deal with severe hip flexor, groin, and hip arthritis pain which has caused a noticeable limp when I walk. I hope that it eventually disappears with the helpful suggestions you give. Thank you!
Thank you, Dr. Kuhn for the exercises. They are always very helpful. I just need guidance as when I go down the stairs, my left knee doesn’t bend so for me to go down continuously down the stairs is difficult. I have to go step-by-step. Also as my left knee doesn’t come back completely. So bending is a problem even while getting in the car and outside the car from that side is difficult. Please guide.

And, a closer examination of what foods you're eating or Vitamin Supplements you're ingesting which actually concentrate on or attack your hip joints. I eliminated a Daily Vitamin and bread / Crackers from my diet and my hips were experiencing completely NO PAIN after about 31 days ! Healed !! Yes!! No pain in my hips, none at all. 😊
I have osteoarthritis in my knees and also need two knee replacements, and I also have fibromyalgia. I keep telling my kids and my husband that I can't keep forcing myself to do more each day if I can't do it. I tell them I can do as much as my body is going to allow me to do because if I do too much my body is going to be stiff and I'm going to be in extreme.pain if I over do it then it's going to set me back for day and even weeks and I won't be able to walk or hardly move because I'll be in so much pain to move. All I'm going to do is do more harm than good. I tell them they need to read, get information on fibromyalgia, and learn about it instead of making me feel bad about what I can't do because I have it instead of them thinking they know what they are talking about and get off my back! I am going to show them this video so they hear it from a professional and know that I'm not lying about what I'm trying to tell them about over doing it and take it slowly day by day!
I am senior citizens I’ll have to go for 17 hours Air flight,I am afraid how can I keep myself fit? I have arthritis and joints pain all over body, need your advice for the long journey. Thankyou ❤❤
Not sure where to begin. The need to do the exercises and trying to balance them with the amount of pain I have is beyond difficult at times. It's been 18 months since having RF Ablations on my L3, 4, 5, and S1 nerve roots. So, at the first sign of having the pain return I signed up for a repeat of the RFAs. That is the only way to get the relief needed to go about being able to move. Up until about 20 years ago, sports and outdoor activities like back-packing and taking long day hikes were common for me. When taking my retirement physical after serving 20 years in the Air Force, the stress test was conducted. A few minutes after finishing the Dr. asked if I was a maration runner because my heart rate came down as fast as a long distance runner's did. My weekly workout was a combination of weight training while jogging around or running in place in between sets and reps. That was 3 days a week, with racquet ball for an hour on the days in between. Now, at 67 years of age, neuropothy from sciatica and lamanectomies of my L2 through S1 lumbar vertebrae (plus the degeneration, stenosis, etc., that eventually tries to eliminate whatever happiness you have left) pushing through the pain can be impossible. Still, my dog manages to take me for a decent half hour walk most days. My question these days is; "How much pain should you push through during the core exercises?" My physical therapist tells me to stop before hitting intense pain. When pain is almost all you know, how can one judge when to stop? Sorry for the lengthy comment. And thank you for the continuous advice!! You are appreciated!
My goal - walking 18 holes of golf for 6 days in a row on my bucket list golf trip to Scotland in 2025.. My recent diagnosis of arthritis in my knee and big toe, both on my right side are challenging this, but I'll get there ... even if I have to do an injection or two between now and then.
Ma'am- Watching this video and paying attention to your instructions has lifted my spirits. Please forgive me if this gets lengthy. I've lived 66 years on this earth & a disabled veteran for quite some time. This year's been a struggle & I needed 'new information' how to proceed. Allow me to describe the issues: Degenerative disc disease in neck. Degenerative disc disease in lower back. Spinal Stenosis. Right shoulder arthritis. Both hands arthritis. Toe joints arthritis. Fibromyalga. Lyme disease. I'm no quitter - just frustrated at this point how to get moving again. I can do all these exercises except toe raises. Because of my background and studies I'm aware I have abilities despite the disabilities. Where our focus goes, that's where our energy flows. Thank you immensely. Johan USMC Beirut Veteran
I'm so glad my channel has lifted your spirits and thank you for sharing. My channel is always here for you for positive energy and information to help you on your journey. You are not alone!
Here are some books that can help you heal - naturally without pills The Edgar Cayce Remedies: A Practical, Holistic Approach to Arthritis, Gastric Disorder, Stress, Allergies, Colds, and Much More by William A McGarey M.D. Health Through God's Pharmacy: Advice and Proven Cures with Medicinal Herbs by Maria Treben These and other books like them are available on Amazon. My mother controlled her cholesterol levels just by drinking herbal teas. Turmeric powder contains curcumin which reduces inflammation and pain. But the powder only contains about 3% curcumin. So it is not very effective. So I ordered pills of Curcumin with pepper. Pepper helps the body absorb the curcumin a lot. I ordered this though Amazon because I can't find in in the drugstores or anywhere in my area. Edgar Cayce stressed the need for good elimination. Waste left in our bodies can produce toxins that are absorbed by our bodies. Then bad things like breast cancer or arthritis can happen. Also, exercise is necessary. I find these exercises by Alyssa Kuhn to be very very good. Visit the Edgar Cayce channel on TH-cam You will learn a lot Human beings are composed of MIND BODY SPIRIT If they are out of harmony bad things can happen Edgar Cayce stresses good elimination to rid your body of garbage that can produce toxins in your body - for that he stresses a good diet - avoid red meats and fried foods Also MIND IS THE BUILDER - the body follows the mind - be positive and believe To maintain good spirit maybe listen to some of your favorite music You can rub peanut oil on your joints to help lubricate and heal them - by Edgar Cayce I hope I have helped you. Keep Moving!!!

Like your videos because you explain and demonstrate every bit slowly n clearly...however my concern is that after watching the video , I tend to forget practicing the recommended exercises. ..how I wish I could take trainng from you in person at least for a month or so.....unfortunately we are located too far apart.. I am in India and you in USA..😢😢

I have been using a walking pad to increase my speed and time. I am signed up for the "Virtual Honolulu Marathon". Starting on December 5th, 2024 I have 30 days to finish 26.2 miles. So my goal is to walk at least 2 miles daily for 13 days. 🚶♀️🚶♀️🚶♀️🚶♀️
May God empower and bless you, Alyssia! As a Scientist, I am so wary of wrong and half baked information, which floats around the internet and leads to do more harm than good. But you are extremely professional, knowledgeable and precise in providing the solutions in evidence driven manner, without too much clutter to lengthen the video for commercial gains. Professional like you are who make the TH-cam a treasure trove. If you were in the U.K. then I would have signed-up for your classes. Thank you for your videos.
Good morning hope you are well. I’ve just had x rays which confirms osteoarthrosis of the left hip. I’m finding walking increasingly difficult and wondered if you tell me which exercises I should do. Thank you so much ❤

Plz tell some effective exercises for knock knees with painful osteoarthritis.. my age is 43 facing this problem from last 10 years can't stand more than 5 minutes.. plz help dear..😢
I have got my knee replace 5years back,Can you tell me some exercise to strengthen my knee, because I feel hasitate to go out,I feel slightly conscious to go out because of knee,
Is "Jeffing" a good strategy for building endurance? I do 2 miles on Monday 3 miles on Tuesday 1 mile three of four times on Wednesday thru Friday and Saturday or Sunday off
Increasing endurance comes with continuing to increase the time as your body is able to tolerate it. Increasing by one or two minutes a time can be helpful as long as there aren’t any adverse reactions.
I was doing the heel raise with toe raise and that pulled a muscle near my arthritic knee and I still haven't recovered from that pain. Do you have suggestions so that I don't run into that problem again? Thanks.
@@arthritisadventure I do both seated and standing so those are okay. I just don't understand what about heel raise/toe raise caused the muscle to become painful. It is the muscle that runs across the front of the knee and towards the outside. I wonder whether with time the pain will subside and then whether to start the heel raise/toe raise exercise or whether to just avoid it altogether.
Hi, I recently fractured my talus bone and I’m having trouble getting back to walking. Will these exercises work for that or is it just for people that have arthritis?

After my spinal surgery 2 years ago, walking is very difficult
These videos are here for your information. Best of luck in the recovery.
Thank you for your service. Look up "Arthur and DDPY". Your statement reminded me of the above. This young lady is great as well.
Ma'am-
Watching this video and paying attention to your instructions has lifted my spirits.
Please forgive me if this gets lengthy.
I've lived 66 years on this earth & a disabled veteran for quite some time.
This year's been a struggle & I needed 'new information' how to proceed.
Allow me to describe the issues:
Degenerative disc disease in neck.
Degenerative disc disease in lower back.
Spinal Stenosis.
Right shoulder arthritis.
Both hands arthritis.
Toe joints arthritis.
Fibromyalga.
Lyme disease.
I'm no quitter - just frustrated at this point how to get moving again.
I can do all these exercises except toe raises.
Because of my background and studies I'm aware I have abilities despite the disabilities.
Where our focus goes, that's where our energy flows.
Thank you immensely.

Here are some books that can help you heal - naturally without pills
The Edgar Cayce Remedies: A Practical, Holistic Approach to Arthritis, Gastric Disorder, Stress, Allergies, Colds, and Much More
by William A McGarey M.D.
Health Through God's Pharmacy: Advice and Proven Cures with Medicinal Herbs
by Maria Treben
These and other books like them are available on Amazon.
Visit the Edgar Cayce channel on TH-cam
You will learn a lot
Human beings are composed of MIND BODY SPIRIT
If they are out of harmony bad things can happen
Edgar Cayce stresses good elimination to rid your body of garbage that can produce toxins in your body - for that he stresses a good diet - avoid red meats and fried foods
Also MIND IS THE BUILDER - the body follows the mind - be positive and believe
To maintain good spirit maybe listen to some of your favorite music
You can rub peanut oil on your joints to help lubricate and heal them - by Edgar Cayce
I hope I have helped you. Keep Moving!!!
Thank you for your service! You are a true hero!
Is it possible to make a picture chart of those exercises? Sometimes us older people can’t remember the exercises. Thx🌺
You can save this video to your YT account for future use if you'd like to watch it in the future.

Healing takes time. This time is not measured in minutes or hours or days. Just keep doing exercises and gradually increase things.

Thanks.
Modifications are always available for any movement. Seated movements are a modification if standing movements are difficult.
