I gotta say the actor playing creepy dude actually did a pretty good job. Like I was legit freaked out at some points.

Somebody made a suspense thriller that riffs on someone visiting a megachurch and no one knowing their name and flawed pastors that think they're infallible... this movie has a really cool concept.
I totally agree. I actually liked the trailer when I first saw it specifically because I liked the concept it was presenting.

I don't hate this film. I applaud it on a technical level, it's put together very nicely despite its drawbacks.

none of the characters were likeable at all. amber was as clever as a roadkilled squirrel, pastor said the only two reasons he loved his wife were her cooking and her appearance, lady neighbor was about as charming as a dentist, and neighbor dude made feel so defiled i had to take a shower. hot tub was a 7/10 though, and that last guy’s pb sandwich looked alright.
I agree with most of what you said, though in my anecdotal experience, dentists are usually quite charming. Ageed the hot tub was one of the better characters.
Honestly, based on what Kevin showed, Britney wasn't a bad character. Inappropriately handsy with her boss maybe, but doesn't seem to mean any harm. And compared to Amber's cartoonish level of stupidity, Britney's unwillingness to confront a boss she thinks is sexually harassing is sadly plausible.
I don't know how I'm unable to watch the creepy neighbor scenes but enjoy 13 reasons why and Riverdale
10/10; most accurate possible summary of this film lol
Plus, Zach, the pastor, they don't explain WHY he sees preaching to people as projects or really go into his low self esteem issues. Props to him for recognizing early on how off the neighbor was but could've been a better character had he been fleshed out more. I like the concept it was going with: A Christian couple being harassed and stalked by a neighbor but execution is execution. And this movie failed. I had given this movie a C- but that climax dropped it to a D-.

Yeah, I was a fairly sheltered 14yo homeschooler the first time I was sexually harassed. I barely even knew that was a thing that happened but I still had alarms blaring in my head with the guy. And then to think that a freaking adult wouldn't know, I just...I don't understand this film. T_T
For real! What married woman asks a creepy man she has only met once into a hot tub with her?!

I did the exact same thing. I just went “uh nope” and closed the phone the moment she said it was okay to stay and speak to him. Took a nice long break from the stupid.

It would've helped if we had gotten some backstory to why he sees unbelievers as projects, then we could've seen some internal conflict and sympathize with him.
I think they made the neighbor really creepy for us to sympathize with pastor Zack but this also made the wife really dumb.
yeah, seems like a case of writers realizing they write the protagonist to be rather bland or grating so they opted to make the villain even more unlikable than originally but it also made everyone else look kinda stupid for not seeing how obviously bad the villain is

I loved this episode the first time, but I almost couldn't get through a follow-up viewing. It cannot be stressed enough how S T U P I D all of the characters are, especially Amber. Like she supposedly moved from a neighborhood that was so rough they felt the need to own a gun, and she still has no threat perception??!!?!?? WHAT??? 😂😂 When I had my first encounter with a creepy guy, I was a sheltered, naive 14 year old homeschooler and even I could tell that he was bad news. And he wasn't NEARLY as overtly creepy as this guy!! How does this ADULT WOMAN not know???? IT'S MADDENING. 😂😭
This makes me want to watch this! But Amber is annoying. There's a reason Jesus told the disciples to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
Update: I just watched it and boy is it terrible, mostly because of Amber! It's a 4/10 for me.

I find it kinda weird that the thing with the lady neighbour didnt go anywhere. Like she was also super creepy and just invited herself into the wife's life. She talked kinda like a ad. Like was that not intentional? Idk it kinda sounded like she was in cahoots with creepy neighbour.
And she kinda sounds like computer. It was a bit robotic.
Amber is one of the worst characters in this movie. She has 0 common sense, gets upset that her Husband (who is just a shallow character not much else to say) is working with another woman. Then just basically ignoring everything he's saying and calling him irrational. Also what type of Mother doesn't watch their kid while they're playing outside that's like really dangerous.
Edit: This could have all been fixed if THEY JUST CALLED THE COPS
And the movid just skims over how the neighbor was able to figure out what the couple's anniversary date.
If this movie is pandering towards Christians, it has an *awful* message. "Thy Neighbor" comes from "Love thy neighbor", and I was expecting throughout the entire movie that they build up this guy to be some sort of creep, but at the end it turns out he's just a really awkward guy who doesn't know how to get along with people, and the message was like "be loving and kind to everyone, even if they aren't very personable on the surface." But then he turns out to be an actual psychopath, and now the message is "Love thy neighbor, except if you think he's a creep in which case you should stay away from that dude"? I mean like, of course, don't put yourself into a dangerous situation, but I guess the message I got from it was "weird = bad". Even so, these people are kinda like really stupid? Loving your neighbor doesn't mean inviting them to join you alone in the hot tub, or giving into whatever they say, you can be nice without being a doormat. Also TELL YO KIDS NOT TO GO WITH STRANGERS. Ugh.

Your reviews are so fantastic, they have all that hyper-sarcastic cynicism everywhere, hilarious edits, clever jokes - and sometimes goofy adult jokes (the fact you repeated "Daddy" XD) - and of course giving your constructive criticism - giving the creators credit where it's due and what you think needs some work (and how to improve things). I'm so glad I found you - through JLongBone's shout out, no less - because you've become one of my favorite youtubers of all time.
I look at you for your hot takes on Christianity and giving your honest, experienced artistic opinions about media. You're a great Christian role model, too, because you don't try to portray yourself as a flawless perfect person (and then actually be two-faced aside from appearances) that I've experienced with Christians too many times and tried to aspire to myself, to look super spiritual and without flaws but never feeling like I measure up. You just present yourself as you, share your thoughts and beliefs without acting like you're the ultimate authority and expert on everything and encouraging people to seek out God's ACTUAL words themselves.
As for this movie, it was incredibly stressful and awkward. It wasn't horrible considering the budget, but the characters were still VERY unlikable. Zack was a jerk, the "friendly" church lady was very pretentious and seemed superficial (and it DOES give Hot Fuzz vibes- it would have been a fun twist if SHE was the real creep in the neighborhood), the wife was dangerously naïve and pretty shallow for trying to get back at the husband (but the husband was still playing a big part in the marital problems of course, as you pointed out). Showing the Christian eagerness to show compassion and reaching out to others but not using discretion was a welcome surprise, because no, you can't be super friendly and inviting to everyone. That can put you in serious risk of danger, and is pretty much what almost happened to the main characters. I was almost robbed, have been tricked out of my money, and have been followed several times for being too gullible and believing every person will treat you right if you're friendly to them. Yes, it's good to live to reflect Jesus, but also use extreme caution around people that give off bad vibes and use the instinct God gave you to protect yourself- your brain sounds off alarm bells for a reason.

She was weirded out enough to complain to the assistant pastor, who apparently told his wife, but not Zach. The fact that the person being harassed is unwilling to confront her (apparent) harasser strikes me as plausible. The fact that no one else who knew about it confronted him strains credulity.

Tubi is an awesome streaming site, especially for more obscure stuff and stuff that isn't on anything else. And some truly off off the wall stuff like ripoff movies and knockoff cartoon movies. If one can deal with like four commercials every half hour or so it's an awesome thing. And no I don't for Tubi or get anything by pushing them. Lol

Man, that jumpscare at 31:17 followed by such a goofy-sounding “HI AMBURR!” gave me some Big Head Kid vibes and that is 100% NOT COOL.
So I was friends with Nate in high school and I keep discovering his movies from stuff like this or the God Awful Movies guys who both just make fun of his stuff 🤣 but, Noah from GAM had nothing but good things to say about their interaction with him and I always remember him being an amazing human

Wow, this is a WAY scarier christian movie than The Worm! Like, just, yeah! Almost as if the real world actual "this kind of shit can happen" events are more frightening than "if you die but don't like Jesus you'll be forever in purgatory and echo forever"!
I gotta say though, the wife's sheer stupidity, it goes beyond simple ignorance or naivety. It genuinely impacted my ability to care about her. Now I'd never say this about an actual person who went through something like this, but as a fictional character in a story, I just started to feel like "Well you kinda had this coming, if you can't see just how terrible an idea this is." Her insulting hypocrisy didn't help. She claims her husband is jealous of the neighbor after she invited him, a stranger, into the hot tub with her, but then just seeing that his assistant is attractive makes her go super angry jealous and she assumes he's cheating on her. Pot meet kettle, lady! I really feel like the film would have been better if she was more intelligent and aware, and like, she knows there's something off about this guy but she does still want to try and help him, to be a good Christian and look past his attitude and that he's creepy. Maybe don't have her invite him into the hot tub, don't have her be quite so idiotic. She her having some doubts about him, but deciding to work through it anyway. Show him being less creepy around her than others, help make it more believable that she wouldn't notice the red flags.

If you're wanting to follow up this review with something related/similar in flavor, the actor playing the creepy neighbor was in another thriller put out in 2020, called "Cohabitation."
This is the first time I've been sat here, halfway through a Say Movie Night Kevin, and felt unsure of whether I was willing to continue subjecting myself to the movie being reviewed.
