People who are strict vegans who don’t supplement adequately with B12 can have issues. People taking stomach acid blockers can have issues. And there are genetic mutations of the MTHFR gene that can make nitrous dangerous or be strictly contraindicated in the case of both copies carrying a certain mutation. People who have more than one of these factors….say strict vegans with mutations of MTHFR can have severe complications…and may have more dental anxiety because of ongoing B12 issues. A good history that includes questions about diet, supplements, and medication is essential. Office personnel may want to get tested for for the genetic mutations as presentation may be sub clinical and unfairly attributed to attitude or behavior issues when it is actually neurological complications from toxic exposure.
Am I the only person who f***ing despises nitrous oxide?? 😅 I have epilepsy and neuromuscular disease so maybe that's why, IDK.. but the last thing I ever felt like doing on it was laughing 😭... Had my wisdom teeth removed last week and the nitrous was the worst part. It's like it amplifies all my fears. And I hate not being able to move, it's especially terrifying after decades of sleep paralysis 😓. Never. Again. Anything else is preferable to that... I feel sorry for my surgeon too, having to listen to me say "no. No. No. No. No" for 20mins straight
Can dental assistants administer nitrous oxide? Are they required to monitor your vital signs? Recently I had nitrous oxide, administered by the Dental Assistant. No vital signs checked. I stopped breathing and began to have seizures. My husband was present and he was the one who told the dentist and assistant that I wasn’t breathing. They removed the nitrous without administering just oxygen, no vital signs were taken until paramedics were called and I was transported to the ER.
That actually was the ONLY part it helped me with. After a brief feeling of calm/relaxation I started feeling panicked and sweating profusely, then I passed out 😭 barely had time to tell my surgeon I was passing out, just wanted to warn him I couldn't hold my head up or my mouth open any longer lol the only words I could manage to get out were "I think I'm going to pass"
it is NOT odorless and tasteless. it has a sweet odor and taste. stop conning people. (what would the purpose be for saying it's odorless when it isn't?)
Umm whenever I had any, it was flavorless 😅 they can add any number of scents to the oxygen that's applied simultaneously, though. If you prefer it flavorless, request it that way...
