    I can always appreciate someone that has a attention to detail and works clean,good job man!! reason i was watching your video, i am putting a new engine in my 91 and for some reason one of my cooler hoses was leaking and the cooler hoses for some other reason were criscrossed so i straightened them out,i figured its a simple cooling tube and it doesn't really matter where the hoses go and yours are straight so here i go into the garage to fix that!
    This engine install has taken a looong time, going on my third week,reason is Ive been fixing all kinds of things and I'm reusing several things like valve covers, intakes and so forth and everything was disgusting so i'm doing sort of a mini restoration,thanks for the video!!

      Good luck matching up new hoses. It can be tricky with an engine swap if you don’t know the year of the PS pump or the steering rack. If you pull the high pressure hose and give me the thread sizes, I can tell you the part number you need.

  • @spencerleeb
    @spencerleeb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is this the recommended way to bleed the system? Did you have issues bleeding it? I've done everything you've done in the video, just have to add fluid and bleed my system. Read you're supposed to use a vacuum pump and monitor vacuum while slowly turning the wheel. Thanks, awesome video, couldn't have done it without the walkthrough!

    • @Foxedup
      @Foxedup  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve seen it done without the vacuum. First just turning the pulley, then turn the wheel with the car lifted (engine off), then turn the wheel with the car on the ground (engine on).

    hopefully i get a reply! loved the vid got a question.... my two top hoses, the fittings are both tight but the line itself in the fitting can spin around? are they just rotted out? like from the inside where the line I assume is pressed from factory that goes thru the fitting?

    • @Foxedup
      @Foxedup  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ollie j - the hoses are made to have movement. They will move more than what you would think. You only need to worry if there’s a leak.

    • @olli3j
      @olli3j 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Foxedup think I had some sweating. I cleaned it up couldn't find any leaks. I thought they might have spun but now I know. its almost 180 degree movement with the lines.. ive never seen that will keep my eye on it :) thanks

    Does anyone know what the 2 metal hoses are behind the pressure lines?

  • @CLPRPSD
    @CLPRPSD 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In my case of an air condiitioned car, one of the 2 bolts you took off is actually a stud going through the pump and into the block (1990 GT). Do I have to take the entire front plate off (that the water pump mounts to) and remove the coolant overflow tank to allow the power steering pump enough room to get past the stud when removing?

    • @Foxedup
      @Foxedup  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah if you have AC, you will probably need to unbolt the compressor and flip it up out of the way (but not disconnect the hoses) It will also be helpful to remove the battery, battery tray and coolant overflow tank. It’ll open that whole area up and save time in the long run. Then just remove the whole pump and bracket assembly from the car to to the pulley swap.

    • @Foxedup
      @Foxedup  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s possible to take the pulley off in the car and remove the pump from the bracket, but usually everything is so cruddy and gunked up, it’s usually best to just go ahead and remove and clean everything.

  • @theerickestrick

    • @Foxedup

    Is it possible to get to those two rack fittings without removing the tie rod(s)? I was looking at mine tonight and it is TIGHT in there...think it can be accessed just taking the wheel off?

    • @Foxedup
      @Foxedup  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you should be able to replace those two lines without removing the inner tie rods. I only removed them because they needed to be replaced. If it’s really tight, you could pop loose the outer tie rod from the spindle and it will drop out of your way.

    • @Foxedup
      @Foxedup  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I removed my old pulley and installed it on the new pump. I wouldn’t get a used pump - these things are likely worn out on higher mileage cars. Brand new (refurbished) they’re around $50 to $100 with a core charge and come with a pretty good warranty. And replace the hoses while you’re at it.
