- These are only some of the many features that this flagship Acura model has to offer. A lot of them are advanced for being an 06. The features covered in this video are some of my favorites and only skim the surface of the many quirks on this car.

Good job on the vid. I also bought the RL under the radar. Good value for the dollar as long as your oil pump seal is not leaking and the timing belt service has been done. While you were in the back seat u could have mentioned the headrests that flip down with a button. The paddle shifters are somewhat unique for a luxury sedan as well. SHAWD is another item that separates the RL from some other cars. Thanks for posting a vid

My fellow RL owner whats up, this car is definitely amongst the sleeper older luxury cars that still provide a modern touch. I own an 05 RL without the tech package but still has most of the features that yours has. I thought it was crazy that this has 15 more hp than the TL type s of the same year and standard 4 piston brakes( from advics not brembo I know cause the brakes are easy to change). I bought it with 141 k miles and drives like a smooth operator. Thanks for the extra info its hard to find videos like these.

DUDE Awesome review it's one of best Acura hands down and it's so rare you don't see hardly any!! I pick mine it's lowered on tein coilovers this car is loaded with features super handling AWD , luxury at it's finest , 305 HP VTech , paddle shifters, voice recognition , power seats super comfy + heated XM satellite radio, Bose surround sound , I can go on and on this car amazes me everyday even though I had it for 3 years now it's amazing I also own 2002 Acura cl type a and 2004 Acura TL aspec love them all but this RL is a legend on its own I'm happy to see there's other people out there loves this car. 😎👍👍
One of the best mod you can do is go on eBay and buy a 09-12 climate control unit. It is a direct plug and play on the 05 - 08 RL. You'll get fan speed buttons and the backlights are LED so you'll never have to worry about a bulb going out.
The RL is the best car I've ever owned. Back in '06 I had the intension of buying a Lexus GS350 the whole time, until I test drove the RL. It completely blew the Lexus away in terms of attention to detail, ergonomics, performance, and it is cheaper. The SH-AWD is one of a kind and still the best in the industry. The RL has the heaviest implementation of the SH-AWD system out of all Acura lineup.
Another item to pay attention to is the top display that shows the clock and radio station. It's a Denso unit and a lot of them had cold solder joints. Sometimes if you go over a bump you'll see the screen flicker. Dealer will charge you $800 to replace, but you can easily repair yourself by re-solder the pins.
You should check out Acurazine.com, a lot of us Acura fanboys (and gals) hang out there. Great choice on the KB1 Legend.

Found a lot of good info on Acurazine. One of the things I was hoping for was hands free Siri /CarPlay and reverse camera. But I’ve found some ideas on that site that let you basically keep all factory features although you lose external Cd player if you had one but who uses Those any longer? With much cheaper options that have ability to Bluetooth from iPhone (music )or usb to iPhone (for hands free or steering wheel functions to remain working). I know there are reaR view cams on rear view mirrors that aren’t too expensive either that wouldn’t require stereo head unit. Just an oem read view.

The non-US models have a special "SNOW" mode at the push of a button on the instrumental panel. To paraphrase in layman terms, all it does is put the car into second gear when you're at a stand still so that you minimize any potential "peel out" upon acceleration. I believe it also affects the way that the SH-AWD handles (limiting torque to each wheel). I've noticed that I can recreate this on my US model by putting the car into Manual Mode, and just shifting up into second gear (yes, it will shift up into second gear even with the car at stand still, and it will stay there). I've noticed it helps with keeping the car in control when there's snow on the ground.
Thanks for the videos! I picked up a 2012 Pearl white RL recently and it's a very nice machine! After doing all the maintenance on it and adding some fresh Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, this thing is super fun to drive and looks amazing! Mine doesn't have adaptive cruise, and it's a black interior. I may make some videos like yours in the future to spread RL awareness since it's a really nice quality Honda product. This is coming from a certified Honda technician and lifetime Honda product owner.

Love my 06 RL technology package! Wish it had better mileage but it's a solid ride and nothing stops the SH AWD and the sound system is great too!

I came here to post because I had to take my Honda in for an oil change. Over heard the service tech talking about a 05 they were working on. 296k ... I went outside to look at it ... paint still glossy, interior was an 8. Appeared to have been well kept. Don't see many around here but I was impressed 👌.

I bought an 06 RL with 150k miles for $2500, some minor body scratches and rust and some error prompts on the dash that I need to scan with a computer but other than that she runs really great. She’s my first car too so I can’t complain. I will need to spend money on her in the summer to fix her up but I imagine it wouldn’t cost much.

I have a inifinity 37x and love the car but my 09 acura rl drives soo nice and comfy and grips the road very good on curves! Paddle shifters are nice cooled seats oh boy.

I am about to get 2010 RL with tech pkg and find these features interesting. In one of your videos, where your car was close to 200000 miles, you mentioned some mechanical issues. I heard you say, some oil leaks. Basically want to ask: 1) did you purchase your car like that or it started leaking later? 2) Were there any other issues that came up after the purchase?

Have you put in after market radio in it or ever needed to, if so how did it go?
You’ll probably have to DIY it. I’ve seen many videos of TLs doing after market stereos with touch screens but if you change that you are probably going to want to get a post factory amp processor and all new amps and speakers for it to sound better. I was considering going that route but decided I liked the factory 5.1 surround sound Bose but just wanted Bluetooth music. And there are dongles you can get where you can get Bluetooth so as not lose any original cool functions and I’ve also heard the speakers are a pain to change because they’re shallow and odd shapes in some which require altering / fabrication Factory car parts/panels. You’ll also lose the ANC

Presently own an 08. Bought in 2015 with 40k miles, now has 53k .Had an 05 for 7yrs .had 100k miles when I sold it in 2015 got $10k cdn for it.
My fav fun fact is that the front fenders and the hood and the trunk lid are aluminum (use a pliable fridge magnet to check this out if its too strong a magnet it may compromise the paint), no rust issues add the front and rear rubber bumpers as well and you need only deal with the doors and the rear wheel wells. The exhaust is stainless steel, my 05 was like new at 100000miles My 08 is my winter beater and a blast to drive at any time, my summer beater is 07RDX RED/black which is my other fab ride bought this one new Oct06. 100000 miles. Fun fact. The car market puts these 2 cars at a market value of < $16000 CDN $ . Approx. on a good day.
If you can find one for sale. I have looked after these cars thru the years interior shows little wear on the leather seats and well built. i do treat the leather seats once a year and have the car thats’ sitting, under a car cover, sun roof popped up at the back to facilitate airflow along with 2inch window drop .The forums available help in managing present or /and future issues.
So if I’ve kept your interest so far, one other thing started to nag at me “At 65 (turning 70 in Jan) How many more NEW cars do I have in my remaning 10-15 years i got left?”
I concluded 1 Yep 1 . So that evolved to a hard look at EVs, Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrids, at close look at all of the issues I needed in order to narrow the focus if it was going to be that direction. This was ongoing thru late16,thru17 culminating in early Feb 2018 I find an online line ad (Car show month in Toronto) by Honda announcing the arrival of their new PHEV Clarity. It’s mid winter ,I call the Honda dealership “Do they have one I can test drive? “ Yes they did (several excellent reviews on line)
It took until Aug 8 before it landed in my driveway , during those months the RL and RDX were as which one would I trade.I was offered $6000. For the RL I could not be bothered, here is the reality check I have the room to add another vehicle to my driveway so why get rid of either . They’re at the end of the line re depreciation and we fully insure the Clarity (82km on battery alone .will run @500+km on gas and EV mode size of an Accord. Whisper quiet ! What a lovely contrast . $1.80 to charge from home on 240 volts 3 1/2 hours charge time)
Then, as a lifelong motorcycle rider, in 2005 I discovered a MC called BURGMAN. I bought the 400cc ver. I would eventually upgrade thru the years to a 2011 650cc. These bikes list in CDN$ 11000.00, I found this one in Feb 2014 while I owned a 2008 which the factory had added to the 2011 mod yr. They always list the current yr @$11000. So to find this one on a Showroom floor being sold as New I offered $8000. Plus taxes out the door to be picked up no later than April 30 and is occupying my garage as I type this.

We added cancelling turn signals, and a practical air condition accommodating seat cover that works on the principle of a mesh that sits on the seat that keeps your ass off the seat just enough for the air flow to cool it. Bluetooth music to AirPods with noise cancellation . It is also one of the easiest formats to learn how to ride a motorcycle because it’s an AUTOMATIC Trans (push a button and its a manual but no clutch. Your left thumb will be doing the gear changing of gears)
Present value of said MC. $6000. Has 18k kilometers on it and I dont envy anybody out there. Insurance about $600/yr
So If you add the inventory all up 4 great rides 3 of which will not depreciate much as they are 10yrs old so why sell now.
All for under $50 grand

@@sayblaze - press and hold the map guide, menu, and cancel button for a few seconds - your secret menu will pop up. Click on the YAW option. Check to make sure your calibration is correct. I'm no expert, but that may be the cause of your shawd light to pop up. There are also videos on reseting those lights on youtube.

@@jensz9360 disagree well you made that reply 2 yr ago but still I’ve seen similar car in todays inflation and it’s been in the eleventy K and up range. My dads 06 the mechanic just worked on was going to offer my dad 6k for his car until he found out it had a rebuilt title because it got stolen and insurance paid for it. The car was recovered very soon after not a scratch on it. So it was insurance’s now and it knocked 7-8k off 30k in 10 for it. So he got it for a steal considering everyone thinks a rebuilt title is like a totaled car that’s been rebuilt or maybe engine replaced too. Who knows. But he Immediately went from 6 to 4. Lol. Which is still good imo. 223k on it. Gold black interior basically been kept flawless has brand new tires
And he’s selling To me for 2k. Carfax had its value right around 4500-3200 depending on excellent or good condition being marked. But I know it’s history and it was one owner car until it was stolen. Thing is still immaculate and he redid the Leather front bucket seats because they were beginning to show some wear. I can’t wait to have it. I know it’ll run that 12 sonata off the road in both comfort luxury and speed. He told me now you really have to be careful now with the gas cuz that thing will go! I’m like I know pop I’ve ridden with you and you always scare the ever living shite out of me.
