Miyamoto Musashi, the greatest samurai who ever lived. Modeled after Toshiro Mifune, the greatest samurai actor ever. Directed by Takashi Miike, legendary Japanese director. In an anime adaptation of the classic Onimusha games from Capcom. My mind is having trouble fathoming the awesomeness.
Between these shows and how they have treated Dave Chapelle, I can't help but be impressed with Netflix despite it being a corporation. I guess I was just so used to Disney and its ilk that I had forgotten what real passion looked like.
The Onimusha games are probably amongst the best parts of my childhood. Really glad to see it back in some way. The feels, looking like it'll be a nice ride too
you limit your experiences cause of art style ? i feel bad for you. Was your girl fucked by some 3d animator or something ? so wierd.. and noobdy cares if you play it or not lol@@joseabreu-nn5cu
@@ZimaCyberia It's the gauntlet that made the Onimusha series you chump. Samanoskue was the main character to wield the power in the game because the story was focused on him.
For those that never played the game, the cinematic game opening for Onimusha 3 is arguably one of the greatest video game cinematic openings of all time.
Truth. I go back and watch it from time to time. Its insane that all these years later very few games have come close to matching that type of scale, energy and hype just for the intro.
I love that opening . As well as the last fight in dawn of dreams. I would love Capcom to actual remake of 2 3 and 4. I played the remaster of warlords but it just felt the same .
I have always told people the same thing! Definitely one of the greatest intros ive ever seen!

This anime is a masterpiece and has so many references to Miyamoto Musashi legends, like him fighting with two swords, defeating Kojiro Sasaki with a suburito made out of an oar, and Kojiro using his signature "swallow cut".
Toshiro Mifune being immortalized in one of the greatest characters he’s ever portrayed in film and into the fictional realm of Oniumusha is something I never thought would happen. Maybe this series can extend to multiple seasons, so they can also incorporate Takeshi Kaneshiro as Samanosuke and/or Jean Reno as Jacques.
It would have to involve old man Samanosuke, since he was from the time of Oda Nobunaga, this likely takes place during the early Edo period or at least after Hideyoshi's reign (when Onimusha 4 takes place) and in the final battles of the Sengoku era. Which would mean we could see the series end with a supernatural form of the battle of Sekigahara, which was historically a battle of epic scale. I really would like for that to be the case, but I don't see much armor in the trailer, so this is most likely in the peace that followed.
@@michaelbeacon123 Onimusha 3 introduced time travel. I’m sure they can get Samanosuke and Jacques in their prime. Either way, the storytelling for this animated series is endless, and I can only hope it succeeds enough for Capcom to rejuvenate the series to remake the games like they did to the Bio Hazard/Resident Evil series.
This is a crazy collaboration of genius artists, both dead and alive. You have the lead actor, Mifune as one of teh greatest samurai ever to grace the screen, the director, Mike being probably the most bizarre and creative Japanese director nearing the end of his life and career, and the designer, Kim Jung Gi, the recently deceased genius of pen and ink who left the world too young, but as one of the best illustrators to ever live. It's crazy that a confluence of creatives of this magnitude came together in this project.
I was really surprised to see Miike on here. Audition is one of the most messed up films I’ve ever seen so hopefully he brings that kind of crazy to this.
@@icchampion5 but it was his last job In July 2022, rumors started about something about Onimusha, he even drew it in a live, and in October he passed away.
When I first bought Onimusha, had my surround sound all set up in my living room. Playing these games on surround sound having all of the speakers surrounding you was the best experience of a lifetime. 23 years later, with a more advanced setup in my living room, I will pay homage to this phenomenal game by watching it in surround sound in my same living room. Great work, Capcom.
Everything Sacred. Some time later, God tested Abraham’s faith. -Genesis 22:1 In their later years, God blessed Abraham and Sarah with a child, Isaac, whose name means “laughter.” Isaac was a physical representation of everything sacred to Abraham’s heart, the covenants that God made. He was the physical link to the coming Messiah. And Abraham watched this little child grow into a young boy and then into a strong young man. We don’t know for certain, but perhaps Isaac began to fill the spot that Abraham had previously reserved for God, because the Bible tells us that God tested Abraham. God said to him, “Take your son, your only son-yes, Isaac, whom you love so much-and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you” (Genesis 22:2) Even then, Abraham had his priorities right. He was willing to give up Isaac to the Lord, believing that, if necessary, He would resurrect him from the dead. Of course, we know the rest of the story. At the last moment, God spared Isaac. And Abraham passed the test. In his book The Pursuit of God, A. W. Tozer commented, “To the wondering patriarch [God] now says in effect, ‘It’s all right, Abraham. I never intended that you should actually slay the lad. I only wanted to remove him from the temple of your heart that I might reign unchallenged there. Could it be that someone has become an idol in your life? Is there someone who is more precious to you than God Himself? It isn’t that God would take this individual away as much as He wants to rule and reign in your heart. The Bible gives us God’s reflection about how the people of Israel once pursued Him. God said, “I remember how eager you were to please me as a young bride long ago, how you loved me and followed me even through the barren wilderness” (Jeremiah 2:2) In other words, “Remember how it was when we were still in the honeymoon phase, in the early days?” He continues, “For my people have done two evil things: They have abandoned me the fountain of living water. And they have dug for themselves cracked cisterns that can hold no water at all!” (verse 13) Their first mistake was withdrawing from Him, the fountain of living waters, the One who could satisfy their deepest needs. And then it was only a matter of time until they found broken cisterns, wells dug in the rocks that couldn’t hold water. Let’s heed the warning of Scripture to believers living in the last days. Let’s refuse to allow anyone or anything to become idols in our hearts. The best antidote to idolatry is a passionate love relationship with Jesus Christ. I just finished binging it. Initially, I knew nothing about Onimusha when this trailer dropped but was hyped because of the song (“THE LONELIEST” - Måneskin). This anime felt it was made with such sincerity and delivered emotionally well.
Was just as shocked seeing his name in the character design section. He probably designed them during the early part of production, maybe years ago as animation takes a long time.
I was very surprised to hear they were bringing Onimusha back, but happy never the less. The fact this is coming from Takashi Miike, who I haven't seen a production from in years, makes it even more exciting. Some epic, possibly weird, stuff is about to go down in this anime.
@@robertwrase6026 He's fairly diverse too. He's done some good adaptations of manga, anime, and games. He has some children's stuff under his belt. He's possibly one of the most diverse directors we've ever had.

This feels like a dream to me! I never imagined Onimusha would have anime. I hope this is the first step into making more Onimusha games. We need more remastered versions, and more original onimusha games with different historical Japanese warriors.
Grew up with the Onimusha series. My brother and I were so emotionally connected to it and when DoD came out with 2 players, it indeed took our souls. Watching this trailer nearly 20 years later really pulled some strings in my heart haha. Can’t wait

The "protect the girl" trope is eternal. Sometimes it's a boy, sometimes it's a dog, but it always allows for unlimited brutality in the name of saving or avenging someone's innocence.
hopefully, this series is going to be a big hit, and make CAPCOM realize that we need a new onimusha game ASAP. imagine that we have miyamoto musashi as a protagonist...

Really liked this trailer! What's interesting is that they really kind of downplayed the demon aspect and made this trailer have some kind of a human/personal/grounded type of feel to it. Not what I was expecting, but I like the initial vibes I'm getting from it. Seems like it has some star power behind it to with cast and crew!
This trailer could have been set with the traditional Onimusha soundtrack style. Sweeping orchestral harmonies, dramatic crescendos, the works we've seen in the games. But this song? Definitely unexpected, yet definitely provides such a unique theme that fits. It doesn't compromise the intensity of the action, but it provides a feeling of a desperate battle being fought. That even the greatest swordsman is put to his breaking point limits to maintain a fighting spirit to protect someone else. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
This is not the first appearance of Musashi in Onimusha series, he was playable in Onimusha Blade Warrios, even thou the lore of such game is questionable.

For those that never played the game, the cinematic game opening for Onimusha 3 is arguably one of the greatest video game cinematic openings of all time.
Truth. I go back and watch it from time to time. Its insane that all these years later very few games have come close to matching that type of scale, energy and hype just for the intro.
Hiii-dee-yoshiiii!!!
I love that opening . As well as the last fight in dawn of dreams. I would love Capcom to actual remake of 2 3 and 4. I played the remaster of warlords but it just felt the same .
I was a Fan of 2. "I am Gogandantes, the greatest swordsman of all the demons". Then fights with a European style of Rapier sword combat😂😂.
I have always told people the same thing! Definitely one of the greatest intros ive ever seen!
This anime is a masterpiece and has so many references to Miyamoto Musashi legends, like him fighting with two swords, defeating Kojiro Sasaki with a suburito made out of an oar, and Kojiro using his signature "swallow cut".
i didn't expect to see Onimusha ever again since my childhood. glad to see its coming back, including the great memories playing the games.
Onimusha 3 was the only one in the series I was able to play.

The new Onimusha game trailer brought me here
This is a crazy collaboration of genius artists, both dead and alive. It's crazy that a confluence of creatives of this magnitude came together in this project.

Everything Sacred.
Some time later, God tested Abraham’s faith.
-Genesis 22:1
In their later years, God blessed Abraham and Sarah with a child, Isaac, whose name means “laughter.”
Isaac was a physical representation of everything sacred to Abraham’s heart, the covenants that God made.
Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you” (Genesis 22:2)
Even then, Abraham had his priorities right.

So sad that anime adaptation never really touched the greatness of this trailer
Hands down one of the best under rated games I have ever played capcom definitely should invest into this franchise reboot
With the Soulslike genre being so big, the market is probably perfect for it, even if they don't go all the way Soulslike with the gameplay.
OH MY GOD!! I can't even tell you how excited I am. I haven't been this hype for a new Anime in a long time. My only complaint is imagine just how absurdly FIRE, and GORGEOUS this would look if it was legit 2D animated.
Wow and here I thought Capcom had completely forgotten about Onimusha and then comes back with this I'm definitely gonna give this a watch. And this time Miyamoto Musashi is the chosen hero yep I'm in love with this.
Loneliest as a themesong about a Zombie/Demon killing Ronin that's purpose of living is to protect a girl and save her family CANNOT disappoint.
It's spectacular seeing this and knowing Onimusha is still in people's thoughts. Onimusha is in dire need of a remake.
I wish they would make an anime like this on Vagabond too. Shinmen Takezo aka Miyamoto Musashi is truly a legend. A remake of Musashi live screen adaptation should also be done.
they will not
I know. I don't care that this was a video game the fact that they have Miyamoto Musashi fighting zombies just doesn't appeal to me since I never played the games.
It’s way too detailed to make into an anime, and with how inconsistent Netflix’s content is, I hope someone else makes it
I would die for an adaptation of Vagabond too. With those visuals tho ? Hell no dude. Vagabond is, with Berserk (and what adaptation of it uh ?), the most beautiful drawing in the manga industry by far. Vagabond deserves something else. I never thought this song could go with something like this, and I love it !!
The Song was trash and fucking AWFUL.
