I lived in Japan for 2 years, on an Air Force base in Tokyo Japan in 83/84. I was the only person that I knew of, who liked anime. So, I’ve been watching it for a very long time. However, much of it is uniquely Japanese, and hard to understand. It’s like, storyline was not the main focus, and that lost me many times. I really love the way the talk about animation and you can see the dedication it has been put in the direction, art, chorography, scenography. Let's hope the script is as good as the rest.
It is an amazing season. One that catches your attention from the get go and pulls you into the journey, leaving you breathless by the end. The characters moves the story forward instead of the plot dragging them forward. Mizu's married life period honestly broke my heart. When you find yourself cheering on for the characters or getting anxious when they're in danger, that's when you know the production team have done a great work.
Just finished watching it and I am speechless. This is already one of the best shows I've ever watched. The characters ,the story, the animation, the music , the fight sequences. They're all done exceptionally well. I haven't been this invested in a show since arcane. This is one of those rare shows that I know I'll be watching multiple times. Hope the writing stays consistent in the next season as well. And please don't get cancelled.
If the team, animators, writers, and everyone involved in Blue Eye Samurai read this and other comments and reviews, I want to say this. PLEASE do NOT lose the passion, creativity, realism, inspiration, and pure love that y’all poured into Season 1. Dial the writing up to 11 for season 2. You can have stunning visuals and realistically visceral fight scenes all the live long day (both of which BES has in spades). However what makes this show is the STELLAR writing. Episode 5 will stand as one of my favorite episodes of any show I’ve ever watched, right up there with The Avatar and The Firelord. BRA-VO on this stunning left field of a show, and I’m anxiously awaiting season 2. KEEP UP THE S-TIER WORK
And please don't modern day us...the themes and conflict IN UNIVERSE are timeless and keep you so immersed. There is zero need for modern day allegory as it will be jarring and ruin the realistic journey all of these amazing characters are on. Oh, and KB as Fowler is absolutely terrifying.
Ikr, she had such a "huge-golden-retriever-that-thinks-it's-still-puppy-sized-so-it-jumps-on-you-because-it-loves-you-so-much" energy. It truly broke my heart. It's especially sad because this is the first time she's known an outsider's affection, the first time she's properly been out in the open air without fear of hiding, the first time she's been able to let her guard down and be in touch with her feminine instincts and she gets terribly burned. So tragic, and such excellent storytelling.
That scene was very accurate. If I was with a woman and I found out she was that much of a killer, I don’t know if I can continue. She’s truly a monster. Damaged. He was correct in his assessment.
Can't remember the last time I saw such a worthy anime. It was perfect. My only critique was that it was too short. Hopefully there'll be a season 2 soon. 10/10
Anime is just short for animation. It's the grown up version of a cartoon. That's all I meant. There's anime then there's Japanime. I know the difference.
The fight between mizu and her husband was amazing. I could tell she thought it was a fun tango and so did he until the sheaths came off and he got scared.
This, Netflix. This is what I want from you, why I keep my subscription. Real artists with a vision and the ambition to make something unforgettable. This must have cost a fortune to make, but one iconic, brilliant show is worth dozens of rushed and/or under-resourced productions.
What I found most remarkable about the animation choice (and using 3D to "2D") is how it allowed such subtlety and accuracy to the expressions. Especially in 1x05, you really feel every subtle gesture, to the extent that you can interpret exactly how each character feels exactly. This is especially elevated by Byron Mann's performance as Mikio. This was such a meaningful piece of art I can hardly put words to it.
Oh I want more. A lot more. This was by far one of the most astonishingly stunning things I have ever seen in my life which I devoured breathlessly. It was sublime from its first frame to its final scene. The only thing that worries me is the London aspect of it. I wanted the story to remain in Japan w/ all its gloriously breathtaking beauty and elegance. And with all the wonderful characters who survived S1.
Everyone, everything about Blue Eye Samurai was absolutely amazing. The art, the story, the choreography... I'm not a film critic but this is on par with some of the best anime/movie making ever. Everything was so beautifully executed. If this isn't perfection then nothing is. You guys didn't just do well, you crushed it. You literally smashed it out of the park. This is going to be a benchmark for how to do a series for years and years to come.
This was absolutely exquisite, breath taking, it’s so obvious how much heart and soul has been poured into this alongside meticulous attention to detail. We definitely want more!
when i was watching the season, i remember thinking and even saying out loud many times, "this is like watching a moving painting!" turns out that's exactly what blue eye samurai was going for, and im so happy to have been able to watch a beautiful work of art. loved the story telling, its complex characters, and the dedication to the historical accuracy of the time. can't wait for season 2!
Easily one of the best shows I’ve seen in years. The artistry in the writing, cinematography, acting, animation and choreography truly shows the genuine creative integrity and thoughtfulness put into this story. I was hooked from the first trailer I saw and resubscribed to Netflix solely to watch this incredible show. Looking forward for a second rewatching!
Watched the first few episodes... Pretty much flawless on all fronts. Amazed the level of quality on this being a series. Animation is definitely movie quality. Story telling is really solid. Definitely a fan! Thank you guys for your hard work!!!!
I discovered this series only last week, I was amazed by the fact it had all the things that could get me. Loved Mizu and the adult theme on this. This team did an amazing job, they're literally amazing. PLEASE, WE WANT MORE!! I haven't felt like this since I watched GOT in 2022.
Beautiful. I love the integrity they had while working on it. It reminds me of the game Sekiro. It's sad that most people don't respect works of fiction, especially animation. They don't understand that it's art. They don't understand the work that went into making them and the amazing people behind them.
This show is a masterpiece. It deserves more recognition. ❤😊 I love the incredible Art, research, passion and the amount of work the animators and the crew made for this show.
I finished watching this series 2 days ago and it felt like a fever dream. Everything is so well put together and I can't wait for more. Like many before me, episode 5 truly takes the cake on this series, so far!
I’m hooked now I can’t wait for season 2, I mean they have to make a season 2. By far the best series on Netflix I have watched in a long time. This series have kept me on edge on every episode from beginning to the end. A true masterpiece that is now engraved in my brain until I see Mizu’s next journey (and hopefully she gets to reunite with Taigen 😏) on her quest.🔥🔥
Under marketed masterpiece. I am super critical of shows like this and I was hooked by episode 1. I found this by chance (yesterday) and it that makes me so sad, because this needs to be promoted. The team heralded, and show celebrated.
I have yet to watch a Kurosawa movie, but I have spent countless hours playing Ghost of Tsushima and fell in love with the aesthetic and feel of that setting. This immediately peaked my interest when I first saw the trailer and has not disappointed so far! Gorgeous and gripping, good pacing, and interesting characters.
This masterpiece is so incredible that I need to watch all the episodes again. I hope people watch it soon. And that Mizu's story, in its whole entirety gets told, no matter how many seasons that may take. I hope they finish it and that we get to see it to the end ❤
It blew my mind. I can not wait for season 2! Perfect on all fronts, easily one of the best animated series I have seen. I am so intrigued where the story/ relationship between Mizu and Taigen goes! Such Good chemistry, really I am in Love! Good Job
This show is brilliant! One can tell that they put a lot of effort in every second to make it look majestic, breathtaking, authentic, vibrant and blend it with unique characters and drama. Easily the most beautiful animation I have seen in a very long time.
I loved this show. It deprived 2 days of my life to get my cicadian rhythm back after losing sleep watching the show. Fantastic story telling. I beg the makers to keep the format. No preachy stuff. No DEI nonsense. Just story telling. To Jane Wu. Thank you for redeeming 2023 for me TV wise.
i cannot wait for season two, this is hands down one of the greatest television series of our time in my opinion. best show Netflix has ever decided to pick up. props to everyone involved, this show was life-changing.
The story sounds really interesting and the animation looks seamless. As someone who's always been a fan of samurais especially when I was a little kid running around with wooden swords and acting tough this is definitely something I'd love to see~
The Blue Eye Samurai is just flawless to me! The production team has done an outstanding job creating this story-driven masterpiece! I just love the characters, the details in their clothes, the weapons, the expansive visual backgrounds, and the many beautiful colors blended together to create each scene.
Without a doubt THE most stunning, amazing tv show I've ever seen in my life. I cannot sing the praises of Blue Eye Samurai enough. I adore this series so much.
Im rewatching it for the second time, because I'm obsessed!! The storytelling, the character development, the animation, the choreographies, the emotion, the ART!! i can't wait to see more! Mizu is one of the best antiheroes ever written. Thank you to the creators, artists and all those who brought this show, this masterpiece to life!!! I can't wait to see more!!!
Seeing this behind the scenes work was just stunning. The realism and authenticity of the animation comes from the immensely hard work put in by everyone involved. I had just watched and loved the show, but this gave the whole thing a new and more intense perspective on it. I was blown away by the whole thing and hope desperately there is a new season of 'Blue eye Samurai' as, like a lot of others, I truly care what happens to our actors, they are real people. Congratulations to all who put this together to make such an incredible programme.
MASTERPIECE> If this show doesn't get Season 2, I will quit Netflix for good. Netflix blocks all the amazing shows. I am HOPING that this beautiful amazing piece of art will get the hype it deserves.
I didn't think I'd find and love another series like I did Arcane. But wow oh wow did I absolutely and utterly love Blue Eye Samurai ♥️. The artstyle, animation, soundscape, music, voice acting. Simply put: Everything little detail theres is to a production was crafted with utter love and dedication into perfection. I could feel it, so I want to wholeheartedly thank every single person involved for making this series the perfect Masterpiece that it is and for bringing out so many deep emotions in me as I got lost in Mizus journey ♥️. Episode 5 is one of the best pieces of art I think I've ever seen 🥹♥️. Safe to say, I can't wait to meet Mizu again 💙.
This show is beautiful! It really is like a moving painting and very cinematic. I wish I had a bigger TV screen to enjoy every pixel coz it’s so pretty.
Please make another season its a visual masterpiece the animation is beautiful the plot is thrilling and so is the detail of the plot its beyond good its a work of art it would be devastating if there was no second season (ive watched it 3 times and its about to be my 4th)
Impressive! I just finished watching the first episode, and I loved it. Knowing the story behind the animation and seeing the work and dedication that was put in inspires more admiration for the creators and the whole team. I am so ready to binge the rest of the series.
Blue Eye Samurai is one of THE MOST INCREDIBLE series I have seen in recent times 👏👏👏 I hadn’t been enticed to binge watch in a very long time but this did it for me! I can’t wait for season 2 🙌
This show is amazing in every way. The cinematography, storytelling, voice acting, and animation were all spot on, and the way the female characters are written was a breath of fresh air. I've never wanted a second season from a show quite as bad as I want from this one, I tip my hat to the whole team for giving us such a good show 👏🏾🙌🏾
What a beautiful series honestly she is the only female lead in recent history which just is the most badass awesome character lead!!! The story the voices the animation just perfect we so badly need season 2 please!!! I’ve not binged any series this hard in a long time!!
Do I know? Relic Hunter series from 1999-2002 had amazing lead. Lara Croft was good. Harley Queen series was good. Even older we have Xena Warrior Princess. Funny show but very dated special effects. And there are a lot of such examples. Blue Eye Samurai feels very unique for it is focused on Japanese culture while the rest of the series feels very American
I've watched 105 three times now and keep noticing more and revisiting the different ways to relate the intertwining actions....the writing and direction are complex and perfect. And of course artistically brought the screen with so much depth and layering. That was a masterpiece.
them taking martial art classes together is so freaking awesome, I'm glad that ppl in charge managing the budget and everything understood that those little things make a huge difference. This show felt new and refreshing in a lot of ways, it's definitely a step forward of the world of animation, especially animated series.
Kudos to everyone that worked on this series. It was genuinely one of the best animes I have seen in a long time. I really hope we get another. I must also say that visually, it was a piece of art.
The attention to detail really stands out in this show. Everything is designed with thought and it doesn't fall to shorthands. Every character is given a unique face, even when several women are all meant to be beautiful. The clothes they wear, the way they move and speak, their constant actions and reactions, it's all motivated by the story and character. I hope this team are given all the time they need to keep up with this thoughtful approach to filmmaking.
It's so beautiful visually and story wise. And the action choreography is amazingly well done. If this isn't continued for at least 2 more seasons I'd be really surprised.
This story was truly unique and a fantastic take on having a protagonist who is all-powerful, not just because 'she is' but because she forged herself to be this way. I especially loved the backstories of characters like Mizu, Akemi and Madame Kaji as they provided deep insights into what it was (and somewhat still is), to be a woman during the Edo period in Japan. And it wasn't just the female characters that I was drawn to. Ringo, Taigen and the Swordfather were fascinating in their own rights and grew so much throughout the season. I'm so damn excited for the 2nd season and hope the makers continue to do justice to the story and these incredible characters.
This was such a wonderful series. Love the story. Love the choreography. Love the animation style. Last two episodes were a little weak and the ending wasn't as strong as I would have hoped for, but I can't wait for more. Season 2 can't come fast enough.
I’ve never seen this before: the way the 2D and 3D animation came together. It was an incredible experience watching season 1. It deserves all the prizes will follow in the future ✨🙏
this just shows how much care went into this show, from the costumes to the fight scenes , it all together is amazing. Can't forget the writing either. And the characters, also the backgrounds.

Nothing hurts me more than seeing Mizu smile for the first time while sparring with her husband only to have him call her a monster😔😔
Bruh i knoooooow. I called him a good husband only to find out he was like the rest and whats worse he sold her out and was coward
@@dialac1 tf you on about, the "husband" was also a killer, he just couldn't stand the fact that she was stronger than him
@@dialac1wasn’t he banished or had his title taken away? He wasn’t much of a saint either my guy
This is one of the best shows I’ve seen. Period. We need season 2
Can't remember the last time I saw such a worthy anime. It was perfect. My only critique was that it was too short. Hopefully there'll be a season 2 soon. 10/10
what makes this an anime and not a western animation?
it is NOT an anime
not everything about japane is anime.
anime has a specific type of style and visuals look different
This is hands down one of the best shows I’ve ever watched. I hope it gets the recognition it deserves!
Me too. Getting worried about that London stories might harm the integrity and mystique Edo Japan-ness.

PREACH
This show is a HUGE step in the right direction for western adult animation.
It's not a genre, it's a medium!
This is the first time I want a season 2 so bad, the animation was majestic. Everything indeed looks like pieces of moving art!
This show totally blew my mind... Thank you for this unique story and thank you for avoiding all the obvious cliches and making it so fresh
I watch the show, there are few cliches, but they did something new with these tropes. It’s similar with Arcane
They did such an amazing job. The writing the animation music it’s beautiful. Can’t wait for the next season!
This is the greatest mature animation I've watched. Believe me.. I'VE WATCHED A LOT OF ANIMATIONS
Good Job
This is easily one of the best shows of the last 10 years, it was shockingly good!
The trailer is out now ❤ November 3rd
@@DawnyaJones OMG OMG!😍
The story sounds really interesting and the animation looks seamless. As someone who's always been a fan of samurais especially when I was a little kid running around with wooden swords and acting tough this is definitely something I'd love to see~
This entire series is a MASTERPIECE/MASTERCLASS of storytelling/ Animation!!!💯👍💪
The Blue Eye Samurai is just flawless to me! The production team has done an outstanding job creating this story-driven masterpiece! I just love the characters, the details in their clothes, the weapons, the expansive visual backgrounds, and the many beautiful colors blended together to create each scene.
I'll always remember the Ronin and the Bride. That episode was absolutely perfect in an absolutely amazing show
Without a doubt THE most stunning, amazing tv show I've ever seen in my life.
I am such a huge fan of this show, you guys did a great job at making the world feel real and authentic. Thank you!
This one was just on another level. Incredible show
One of the best shows Netflix has ever produced.
One of the few shows I binge watched. Beautifully made, well-made characters and a story that pulls you in. It was amazing!
I haven’t binged anything in years. This was absolutely amazing
binge the whole series in 1 day... fantastic, cant wait for the season 2
We definitely want more. I've watched the first season 3 times now. The animation and fight scenes are absolutely stunning. Can't wait for season 2!
This show was absolutely amazing. Props to everyone involved you should be so proud of the masterpiece you’ve created
I really hope this gets a season 2, this is such a great show.
It's more than freshing , the most detailed animation so far. We definitely want more 💕
This series is GORGEOUS and with a complex and beautiful story to boot! Don't you dare cancel this one Netflix, I WANT A SECOND SEASON!
I've never wanted a second season from a show quite as bad as I want from this one, I tip my hat to the whole team for giving us such a good show 👏🏾🙌🏾
The show looks amazing! The art is gorgeous! The interviews are fascinating! Great job Netflix!
Need a second season already! Couldn't stop watching this show!
Everything about it from the writing to the fighting sequences to the cinematography was brilliant. Well done to the entire time. It's a gem.🎉
Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm totally blown away.... bravo to everyone who made this masterpiece come to life!!!
This show deserves more recognition and marketing!!
Just finished watching the series and I so hope there is a season 2 and more. This is one of the best Netflix has put out in a long time.
It's so beautiful visually and story wise. And the action choreography is amazingly well done. If this isn't continued for at least 2 more seasons I'd be really surprised.
This series deserves more credit ❤it’s amazing!! Can’t wait for second season, please hurry up and present it 😊
This story was truly unique and a fantastic take on having a protagonist who is all-powerful, not just because 'she is' but because she forged herself to be this way.
One of the best animated series I have witnessed in a while. An A+. Waiting for season 2. Thank you to the team of creators.
This was such a wonderful series. Love the story. Love the choreography. Love the animation style. Last two episodes were a little weak and the ending wasn't as strong as I would have hoped for, but I can't wait for more. Season 2 can't come fast enough.
i need a second season, it's great and beautiful to look at
I’ve never seen this before: the way the 2D and 3D animation came together. It was an incredible experience watching season 1. It deserves all the prizes will follow in the future ✨🙏
Recommended Arcane! A great mix of 3D and 2D
@@CherryLipstick6x3 and spiderverse
The best series on the planet, I have watched it 3 times and it still feels fresh
this just shows how much care went into this show, from the costumes to the fight scenes , it all together is amazing. Can't forget the writing either. And the characters, also the backgrounds.
