@@richardlj13 The section was Denis Essex, me and Ian Copland on bass. Cant remember the order of recording it was a long time ago sorry. I do recall the whole thing was done in a weekend. Jim Shepherd came in and just knocked out his solo as easy as you like as well.
I am playing kit on this recording, remember it well as it was recorded the weekend I got married, the band played at the wedding too! The album had Jim Shepherd and well as Mr Bousfield. Two absolute superstars.
This recording changed my approach to playing for ever. The first time I heard someone that transcended his instrument. You don't even think it's a trombone involved there - it just music. Thank you mr Bousfield! A true inspiration!
Not heard this for years! My parents bought me the album for my fourteenth or fifteenth birthday and this was one of the first melodies / solos I ever transcribed.
About 40 years ago a mate of mine went to York University. Whilst there he joinedthe York RMI Brass Band, where he played an Eb Bass. He came home at Xmasraving about "some young kid playing trombone". The trombonist was Ian Bousfield, presumably then aged 13 or so. The rest is history ! Ken Sumner
Found the answer - It was Bill Geldard and no, apparently it is not available unless through Mr. Geldard. Still a beautiful arrangement and played masterfully by Mr. Bousfield.
Amen, he does a nice job of it, usually, these cross-over attempts by orchestral players are pretty lacking in credible "vernacular," like a native French speaker trying to speak English with a Brooklyn accent.
Had I REALLY known THEN I wasn't making, was supposed to be making, and what I wasn't doing wouldn't let my lip try later to make, a trombone sound this good, I would've practiced more, but maybe not the [reversed Evian] youngster I was then.
This is fantastic playing by Ian who is a true inspiration to the Trombone world! If any of you fancy a similar challenge then here's and idea for you th-cam.com/video/HSn00OVc6i8/w-d-xo.html
Trombone GOAT
I just keep coming back to this. Sublime playing of the highest order.
Glad you enjoy it!
I was in the trombone section on the recording, great day and proud to be associated with it.
This was one kick ass recording.... Was the theme from Rocky done in the same session? Yamaha Lewington Brass, absolute gem 💎. Thankyou sir x

Homie he does some jazz too

Is this arrangement available to purchase pls.
отлично
Where can I buy this arrangement? :)
You can't really get it. (Extremely hard to find).
I was amazed the other day when my teacher had a signed original of it.
Alguien sabe dónde puedo conseguir las partituras?
not publicly available. Bill Geldard who recently passed away did the arrangement.
Bill Geldard
Lovely playing, great melody, the arrangement a bit schmaltzy in places. Very enjoyable nevertheless!
What arrangement is this?

Get back on it, Jeff!
Who did this arrangement and is it available?
