No one should be criticizing this man on anything he just did. That is Ian Bousfield. He is the principal trombone of the Vienna Philharmonic. He is better than all of us.
*better than everyone ;)
This
at least better than anyone alive
Charley Hibschweiler honestly everyone u mentioned there except alessi is worse than him
If u were to talk about people who r better than ian u would talk about other bonists
Prbbly theyre the only ones u know as a 12 yr old beginner trombonist
@@halfshim As a soloist Ian is better than all of them but as an orchestral musician that is debatable.
Loved Ian's comment at the end "You get an Austrian passport if you play like that."
Mr. Bousfield was a fantastic coach! There were about 10 coaches in various sections, including Rolf Smedvig & Daivd Bilger with the Trumpets, Stephen Paulson with the Bassoons. The principal bass from the Vienna Philharmonic was there, and a few others. Ian played along with us on the Valkyrie (Wagner), Hungarian March (Berlioz), and the finale from Symphony 4 by Tchaikovsky. Indeed, an outstanding player, and coach.
I think he played beautifully. Thanks for the upload. It was very educational to hear a professional in rehearsal up close.
This is fantastic. I've never known a time when anyone else could see the world from the BEST point of view: that of the trombonist. We're a fantastic people.
Ian is such a star and to share these moments with us is brilliant
I attended a Master Class by Bousfield at ETW 2012. He is truly an incredible trombonist and a great person.
Probably my favorite trombone mentor and player.
He is amazing person !
magic Bousfield! Great sound and intonation.
BEAUTIFUL SOUND
I didn't heard it.
I just saw the name of Ian Bousfield and automatically 👍👍👍👍
I love this!
This is the best trombone video ever. Period.
This guy is solid. Great work!
Hi Mel,
Thanks for the comments- I'm the "Right Knee" in the video, (the author of the clip)- Don't know if Ian has checked these comments, but I will pass along your regards!
Best,
DrJ
i love to play the trombone and its something i dont see many videos of so this is a very very nice thing for me to find...
こんなに間近で演奏している様子を見られるなんて!!
やっぱり上手いなぁ。
Very interesting and nice point of recording!
awesome!!!
my favorite song
This is so neat! Make more videos like this!
It came through. You got a nice compliment!
um dos melhores trombonistas do mundo
So beautiful!!! :'O
Excelente dominio.
i think this is a great song to fly attack Helicopter to
He wasn't a member, but many professionals played in it. E.g., Stephen Paulson, SFS principal bassoon, played in the bassoon section.
That's my favorite part- It might not have come through, but I said, "I'll take it any day, baby." :)
he keeps going up to that high c sharp
Let's hear it for Ian-"lt's f***ing do this!"-Bousfield :D
@skkwizzle What's wrong with touching the bell when you're this awesome?
Graves e agudos, faz parecer fácil!
He's playing on a custom fitted Yamaha Xeno trombone.
Now hes playing on a much better getzen
Ian,
Goodness - seeing you play like that! It takes me back to you belting out "The Last Post" in front of Toulston Lodge at TGS in the freezing cold and pitch black to relieve the boredom of the waiting around involved in a school concert circa 1980.......as ever, the showman!!!!
Mel Watson (rather bad clarinet player!)
PS I bet you never read these comments.......
The internet is your friend. You can find the trombone music online and its actually a farely easy piece. I think the highest note is like a G or A. So its not beginner but a solid intermediate piece. I'm just talking about the trombone part though. The whole orchestral piece is very challenging.
haha! that comment in the end: "you get an austrian passport if you can play it like that..."
Why did he slap his knee
+Lisandro Hernandez Do you not?
that was figure 1
Because it was go time.
Timing!
Ha he was saying watch me nail this!
The real challenge for intermediate trombonists is learning to read this - the first trombone part is written using tenor clef.
John Stockton dang
John Stockton It's not that hard.
If you can't read tenor clef you don't belong in an orchestra!
The clef is the most easly thing of music...
It gets worse when you have to start learning alto clef
How do you make the caption saying that are like in a cartoon box? For example, the trombone player says "Let's Ride" How do you do that??????
it's a function not available on TH-cam anymore, they stopped supporting it some time ago. Only the old videos that had it, kept it.
Aldo I started playing trombone this year, i want to learn how to play this song so bad i need a coach :/
epic
is there anywhere you can get free trombone music 4 this?
Yay, trombone!
This great! Only wished I had practiced my trombone a little more!
2:03 its 2 Ian Bousfields if you look on the screen behind him lol
What a methacrilate screen. Thank you for the music
The Trombone is The Vox Domini. The Voice of God.
I JUST JIZZED MY PANTS
nice
Oof. Thanks! Intonation can be challenging, for all. :)
"Kill the Wabbit! Kill the Wabbit!"...."Ooooops! 0:38

I heard a flub from somebody @ :38....... tinney sound must be due to cheap iphone..
@DTUTexas who cares?
Untuned d in 2 21 sec.
@drjbonehead you're talking crap! i've had him as a teacher for 2 months in vienna! no question, he's a great player but he's a horrible teacher... he's an arrogant ass who doesn't want to teach you anything! he should stay with his orchestras and his solo career, cause that's what he's good at, but he should keep his hands away from teaching...
