Magnificent. There's no-one, on any sailing channel, indeed any other channel at all, who is posting anything that quite hits home with me the way your stuff does, fellah ... long may it continue. I sit here, late at night, and I have tears of joy watching your journeys - you are the living embodiment of Hope. Keep on keeping on, my Viking friend. Much brotherly love to you, and to Silje too of course.
Your sailboat is the most well-prepared single-handed sv that I've seen on any TH-cam channel. Seriously impressive! Wishing you nothing but smooth seas and a great voyage. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with us - it's truly inspiring to follow along.
Those earlier experiences of not quite making it were sent by the Viking Gods to help you prepare physically, mentally and erm boatly for this one. Looking good.
Wow! So exciting to find a new adventure from you Erik. I knew you’d go again! Love the new changes to Tessie. She’s ready, your ready, the weather gods are aligned, its Go for Greenland!
I feel so much better knowing that your new and repaired equipment adds so much to your safety. Can't wait to follow your 4th Greenland attempt. Take care.
Came back from work, open TH-cam and saw the notification: - HELL YEAH! - WTF WAS THAT?!?! - Said my wife, startled. - Erik is back! - Who’s Erik? - What?! Can’t hear ya! I’m happy to see you back. So excited for this series!
I know nothing about sailing but after watching your tech demo im begin to think that sailing is one of mankind's most undervalued technologies it is probably just under clean water and sanitation I really enjoyed your demonstration and hello and fair winds from the landlocked outback Australia 🇦🇺
I think that you have the best prepared and equipped little yacht out there. Especially a vintage yacht like Tessie. Your videos are so well done. When they come out I drop everything to watch them. Especially this trip. FWandFS
Every day you improve your drone shots more and more, I am impressed by some of the shots. The Rolly Tasker sails have been a very good investment, and Tessy's behaviour has improved greatly.👍💪💪
I was born and raised a land lubber....saw the sea for the first time whenI came to Amerika in '68.....but somehow I never been seasick.....20+ yrs service in th US Coast Guard.....but know nothing about sailing.....Search and rescue/narcotics my main endeavors.....love ur videos man....ur hunting grounds are totally foreign to me....too cold....fair winds and following sea my frien.....
I copied another comment, it says exactly what I thought. best wishes from Australia, Erick. I'm following, thanks mate! "How can you not enjoy Erik's adventures & admire his spirit? A true Viking."
Hi Erik! Greetings from Fleetwood in England. Hei på deg! I just randomly discovered your channel and it’s been incredibly inspiring. I got my first boat this year-a 25 ft sailboat-and I’m planning to go into the water next season to sail around Scotland. I’ve also just started a TH-cam channel of my own to document my adventures. Your channel has been a great source of motivation. Best of luck with your journey across the North Atlantic, and I’m looking forward to following along. Safe travels!
We aren't sailers but love your videos. Also love the travels of 'The Bumbling Sailor' on TH-cam. (If only you sailed in a combined journey) We appreciate the differences in your adventures but both are so good. We'll done both!
Erik, another excellent video and I'm glad to see you took care of some maintenance items before departing. Funny thing is, you and I have done similar repairs this year. I was having problems with my shifter and throttle Morse assembly too, and mine required me to take the levers apart, clean them of the old grease that had turned to like glue, then reinstall and make some adjustments. I have two levers: one for the transmission and the other for the throttle and when you would pull the transmission lever back, it also pulled the throttle lever back. Now it's fixed and works like new. I also installed a jam cleat system on the reefing hooks for the mainsail at the mast. Before, I had to put the hook in the sail, pull it down, and then tie it off on a cleat on the mast but now I pull it down and then pop the line into the jam cleat and it's done! I also need to look at replacing my mainsail traveler. It's 47 years old now. Works, but it's really stiff. You gave me a good idea of what to look for. I'm liking the new storm sail. You really need it and it's good that it hanks onto the staysail standing rigging, moving the center of effort closer to the boat's 'center of lateral resistance', which will reduce your 'weather helm'. I have something similar but it hanks onto the forestay because I don't have a staysail rig, and this sail is extra heavy dacron with wire reinforcing on the leech and luff. Bulletproof! I did crew on a Jason 35 staysail rigged sailboat for a few years and used it in heavy weather. Loved it! Glad to see Tiger is back on watch, keeping an eye out on you and Tessie! Say 'hello' to Silje too... BTW, I've done about 1000 miles sailing this year, which included 600 miles of off shore sailing a 46' Hunter sailboat from a little town here in SE Alaska, all the way to Port Townsend, Washington. I'll be working on my own video of this in the weeks ahead. Looking forward to the next video in the series to Greenland!
Erik, I really like your optimism. Too many people dramatise the events on TH-cam. To top it off you have amazing footage. A question. How big is your boat? Cheers Peter.
Fantastic video Erik, I hope your viewers understand just how much work goes into something like this. Maybe not as much as a solo sail to Greenland but not far off either! Well done!
Congratulations on your courage and also on your sailing wisdom. These places and cultures of the North Sea are beautiful. When you can, in one of the next videos, talk a little about the new sails, their characteristics and performance.
Was great to quickly meet you in Athens in Alimos! Forgot to congratulate you on your Greenland trip, I'll be following the journey through your videos. Your cinematography and the focus on sailing in not so always pleasant conditions is what is very inspiring and refreshing to see on this platform. All the best, Erik!
Very nicely produced video, and I enjoyed the narrative/storey and the way it has been edited, and the best part was coming along on your journey, emotionally, thanks for sharing, Erik. That part of the world is sooooo different to my Australian home.
Hi Erik. I realy like to watch your adventures. Nice to see your improvements. And that of the boat. The only concern I have is that you walk around the deck without safetyline. One slip and your boat could sail to Greenland without you. I know that will not happen easely but when it happens its final. Please stay save so we can enjoy your videos for many more years😂 Greetings from an other solosailer.
Hopefully your feeling much better my man, after not being so healthy, keep strong, and look after your health, for the sake of your family, and your future voyages my friend. 😀
Glad your back, thought of everything, safety wise, over 300 comments and no one has said Erik, please use a safety line clicked on, when out on deck. This is the difference of a freak accident in 20 knots of wind and must put reefs in like you did, hit your head or just end up in that cold water, boat gone and your dead in 5 minutes. Better to click on,even though you don't like to. It will save your life. You are very silly in that respect. God forbid, it ever happens.
There have been many such comments in the time that Erik has been posting, I think everyone's given up. However as a single-hander in the North Sea a safety line or life jacket are probably unlikely to improve a sailor's survival chances very much.
Just starting your video but have to remark what a beautiful place Haugesund is to call home. Pretty amazing place my friend. Looking forward to the rest.
Ey finaly! ones more the long awaited content I was sucribing to this channel for. Thanks you Erik! Wish you allways hand's with water under the keel. Keep them comming.
Why don’t you where a life lines or jacket with beacon. You have tons of other safety gear like cameras and course plotters with alarms. Life jacket at the least. Seems like a prudent safety measure.
I, too, am looking forward to seeing your storm jib in action. It makes so much sense to have the center of effort lower and closer to the keel. And I love the orange accents on your mainsail and genoa. It makes Tessie look really sharp and it increases your visibility in bad weather.
Great Episode Eric! Really enjoyed that. Nice to see some of the harsh northern waters again. Our latest episode also has some spicy adrenaline filled sailing.

A refreshing change from the Mediterranean and Caribbean sailing channels, no bacardi and bikinis here, no bulls--t, just sailing. Fair winds.
Could not agree more 😂

Now THIS is a sailing channel! FINALLY something worth watching! AMAZING!
This must be the best equipped vintage sailboat in the North Atlantic !
Fair winds, rooting for you all the way !
😎
I have a 20-foot sailboat and you really are my inspiration... I imagine you studied navigation and sailing techniques. Congratulations Viking!!
As a Scot it pleased me greatly to see our national flag being waved to welcome your arrival on Unst.
Incredible story and scenes. Some of the best filming on TH-cam

Just the best videos. Brilliant advert for Jeremy Rogers design ! Bravo Erik !
I think that C35s are built by Jeremy Rogers, but designed by Doug Peterson
They've stood the test of time, real offshore yachts which still look classically beautiful today.
