    A little tip to find any rare ore you don't have cargo capacity for and want to head back to that location. Accept a delivery mission and go grab the box, take it with you and then leave it at that location so you can find your way back grab the box after your done and keep doing this it helped me a lot.

    As a small addition to the video that wasn’t clear, the damage that occurs seems connected to the amount of Quantainium you have in your cargo hold. Trace amounts might not cause much damage at all, small amounts around 5% or less stored might only cause your bags to cargo bags blow off but not completely destroy the ship, but larger quantities will likely cause full destruction. Small amounts of damage do not seem to fully destroy any other ore you may be carrying, which allows you to still sell some product. As far as locations, quantainium can also be found in asteroids, and has been found on many of the other moons around Stanton, but it's hard to be specific on any precise area. Stay Safe!!!

    I found that if you don’t extract the ore the timer doesnt start and the ore doesn’t degrade. So if you have 2 rocks or more of Quantanium, fracture them all and then extract the ore.

  • @verpine3534
    @verpine3534 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Good coverage of the new ore and some of the new consumables. Quantainium is definitely not your "long mining run" ore of choice, unless - like you said - you find a reasonable percentage at the end of that run to top off your hold and then head immediately back to sell.

    Hey, quick addition to your video: one of my orgmates tested how long he had standing completely still after mining quantanium, turned out to be 24 minutes.
    Running theory is that high Gs reduce the timer, and you can extend the time you have by reducing max thruster output to lower Gs, still needs more testing though.

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The theory might be correct. For me, it seemed every time I went in and out of quantum, coincidentally that is when the timer would go off or maybe go to the next level...not always, so like you said - more testing would be needed. Thanks for the info!! :)

    • @abl9643
      @abl9643 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really? That would be so dumb. Since you and your quantanium are in the same ship, it shouldn’t travel in time faster than you (unless i misunderstood something)

    My very first mining run with the prospector was on daymar near the Olisar station I think its called.. got a 100 percent quant rock and took it straight back to sell it and made 108k within 10 minutes. You can easily make it back in time if you mine on daymar

  • @Cramblit
    @Cramblit 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One exploit or trick another youtuber found for those watching.
    When you dock your ship, immediately go to the ship console and pull out a second ship. Your ore will get "stored" and the stabalization will freeze. Then you can take your time to get to the sell terminal, and do what you want, before finally selling it, and pulling out your mining ship again.

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great comment Eternally! I'd actually call that a workaround more than an exploit. Because you have not way of knowing the countdown and nearness to explosion after leaving your ship, it seems unfair to have a players success based purely upon how long it might take to get to a trade terminal. I think they'll keep working with this, and refineries might change things, but in the short term, it a good solution. To help matters, you don;t have to pull out another ship in 3.9 - there is a "Store" option now on the ship console...hopefully it does the same thing.

    Some changes when 3.10 came out. Your ship now gets pushed by crosswinds near the surface. This is where having twin sticks is an asset. That or a well crewed Mole where everyone is dedicated to their work stations. Delivering quantanium to its final destination is a very risky as your ship must tightly thread landing approach corridors and stay in the middle of them. Near the major points it's very easy for your ship to lose power or go haywire as ATC can override your flight controls causing you to crash in a restricted area with exploding cargo. Part of the problem is new flight controls to be familiar with and the other half is flight controle/networking bugs.

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      At first I was a little frustrated at the crosswinds and trying to steady the ship while continuing to mine, but then started liking the extra challenge, starting landing my ship when if the rock wasn't on the edge of a cliff, if it was a really good one, I'd wait a few minutes for the storm to pass, or just fight through it...basically, figured it was all part of the game and challenge! =) Now as far as the landing approach tunnels...so far, not a fan! It's not the difficulty in navigation that bothers me, it's more that I want to get to my hangar how I want to!

  • @0waverunner0
    @0waverunner0 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If the time keep going even when landed, they really should put a refinery computer in the main landing terminal (even if just for QT). that way we dont have to run as fast as possible and pray we can make it across the city to offload the volatile cargo.

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They did add a "Store" function on the ship terminals, so if you can at least make it hat far you can force-store the ship - that seems to stop the volatility. Hope that helps! :)

    I found one rock with Quantainium on Caliope, and easily broke the rock with a Helix and w/o using any consumables...but then I mined a little more before heading to sell, and had to jettison just moments before landing at New Babbage trying to sell. I was on the third (and final?) warning with the alarm going haywire, and decided to see how the jettison mechanic works (and then I learned it's an all-or-nothing jettison [which makes sense]).

    • @Oearth

    Interesting, like always ;-)
    It seems that i would not mine quantainium exclusively, the risk seems too high. But i will still try it some time for fun. Hope they put some more minable of this kind, it's interesting to have to tweek the mining head and use consumable in order to make it easier, more profitable, faster but dangerous. That's a nice add to the mining gameplay loop

    Awesome video! I've always said that I wouldn't care if CiG first fleshed out mining, or space trucking, or space combat, or refueling; just as long as they fleshed out a proper game loop to keep players coming back and doing something. So, we have "Mining Citizen"... cool!
    With that said, it sounds like the unstable Quantanium miners needs a refinery ship nearby to offload to versus flying all the way back to a planet or station. Hmmm... a large mining ship capable of taking on and refining ores and elements while in space. Hold on... I got it!
    CiG should call this ship... The Orion!

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed! I think the refineries could change things a bit for making drop-off more convenient...even if the mighty Orion isn't quite available yet. =) Thanks for checking out the channel and dropping a comment!!

  • @KuraIthys

    This looks like the kind of situation where if you were trying to mine this stuff in bulk you'd want a cargo ship relay taking it off your hands as soon as you mine it.
    I don't think that's possible right now, but it seems a sensible way to go about things in future...

    Yela surface has so much ore , though i still have yet to find any Quantanium rocks above 2% , with about 500 hours of mining . Yela belt however is amazing for large % Quantanium , regularly finding 15+% rocks at 4000+ for weight . Mining in the Yela belt has it's challenges , mainly being the rocks dont register and you can't scan them , even after shooting them . Though i do find Quantanium at least once every hour or so . Made about 20 million from yela belt with solo mole in about 2 months , 10 hours a week ish . Also yela is so close to Port O , i can get from the belt to Port Olisar and unload in less than 4 min without feeling rushed .

  • @_lime.
    @_lime. 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My assumption is that later on they will offer you the ability to upgrade your ore storage to better handle volatile cargo at the cost of capacity, otherwise something that's meant to mine for hours like the Orion would never be able to mine it.

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your comment is pretty thought provoking. If they follow typical economics, the more expensive things are not only a little harder to find, but also needed in lesser quantities in the world. So ships like a Prospector might be more suited to quickly acquiring and shuttling those to sell, over an Orion that might be better suited for bulk loads of Corundum or Beryl...things that are more plentiful and quicker to fill a very large ship. Even if we could fill the Orion and keep it stable somehow (like the suggestion you made), it could take a very long time to sell it all off when processing facilities will only buy a small handful at time. Great Comment!

    • @_lime.
      @_lime. 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Oearth I suppose that's entirely possible, arguable logical considering how gems work right now. Gems are not able to be mined by ship but have a larger value put on them because of that, since they aren't able to be extracted in vast quantities. Mining with a Prospector can probably net more UEC per hour but it's based on bulk rather than hunting for few high value items. My guess is that they will do something similar for the Orion, where in space you can mine vast quantities of of low value resources, because you're surrounded by tons of asteroids. Then on the surface of a planet the ores mined have a higher value but you have to fly around a bit to find good stuff. This way a ship like the Orion can produce more UEC per hour than the Prospector but also isn't directly competing with it. If we have a player driven economy and demand, a team with an Orion mining the same stuff as a Prospector will just flood it out of the market with sheer volume. If they aren't mining the same stuff then the products of both can have value but be adjusted for scale. So like the Orion would be out mining vast quantities of resources that are need in vast quantities, like copper, iron, aluminum, etc... and the prospector would be focused on higher value, lower demand resources like gold, diamonds, etc... So maybe you get double or triple the value per SCU you're carrying, but a larger ship produces 4-6 times more SCU (per player for multi-crewed ships), so there's still a reason to upgrade, but without making the original ship useless. The Mole could kinda straddle the gap, being able to surface mine but also having enough through put to make a profit mining bulk stuff.
      Idk, kind of a rambling paragraph, and all speculation but it could work like this. Like a guy panning for gold can make some decent money off the little gold he finds, but if you want to mine something like coal you do it on a large, industrial, scale and probably make more money doing it.

I think there is also an inner thought action, but I like to keep my focus on the meters and use the keybinds. Great Question!!! :D

  • @DaddyKoolPop
    @DaddyKoolPop 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    OKAY.. OKAY so dig this, we will have to develop and install payload stabilizer subsystems. This will take up just a little capacity in the pods, but will be worth their weight in safety and hazard mitigation. They can be reusable or limited use items, so that they can be part of the regular mining operation overhead. Yeah, I'm making it all up, but yeah I'll pay for em.

  • @Cramblit
    @Cramblit 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The quantanium seems to be very good value.. Sometimes I can spend 20-30 minutes just eeking out gold/titanium and stuff just trying to find that agricium load. A full load of a 20-30 minute run in my Mole nets between 20-60k (yea RNG varies in HUGE amounts..), that small 8% of Quantanium is nearly a full mole load of 10% agricium and loads of other random ores... that's extremely good..
    Seems like the new meta is aim for the higher end ores, mining up what you can, and the moment you find quantanium, gobble it up asap and get your ass back to the selling point no matter what % your cargo is at.

    Its a fun new thing, however I don't agree on the extremely short amount of time one has from the moment you take in that Quantanium ore (10 min.) its way too short and needs to be doubled to atleast 20 min. before it becomes unstable and blows up. Also what I want to see coming (being a dedicated miner) in the next patches is the ability to manually seperate the inert materials from the valuable ore directly from the ship and be able to jetison the inert materials so to have a 100% ore efficiency on returning to base. (ps. The Prospector has a hatch in the back outside the ship that can be openend and some sort of non-functional MFD panel drops down from it. I wonder if that will be the future control panel from wich to jetison the inert materials.)

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many folks, included myself, have speculated about some sorting capability from that hatch at the back from early concept drawings. I used to think yes, but the more I see how the mining mechanic with scanning is playing out, the more I wonder - inerts might be here to stay as an item to have to work against to minimize...but we'll see. For all we know, the mining veins that they've talked about could be a whole separate kind of mining which might use the hatch - guess we'll find out!

    Something that's always bugged me: Whenever CIG shows non-game footage of the Prospector, the mining head often pointed straight at the ground. Do you think that'll be implemented when we're actually landing on & mining large veins (as they've said in the past), or is it just concept art that should be ignored?

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've wondered that myself. For a while I was thinking it was just discarded concept art (like you said) that went to the wayside as they matured the mining and the rocks. But then when Chris talked about mining veins, and exhaustible deposits, it made me wonder. Veins are definitely a V2 progression of mining - we'll just have to see what it brings - I've heard no other hard info or verifiable rumors. Great Comment!!!

    Now that there is a perishable and volatile minable in game that dictates a strategy of letting it lie coming back to extract it last before you leave- we need Nav & Mapping v2!!! At least personal beacons that we can set. They could be physicalized crates to add to the gameplay.

      For me, I use a simple and cheap joystick, so I independently move the ship with it and the mining laser with the mouse. For mouse and keyboard only, I'm not sure. I sometimes land the ship to stabilize it, but that's not always possible. I might suggest dialing down the speed limiter very low or low as it will go, that way, if the ship does start turn if you point over with the laser, the ship will turn very slowly and controlled and not swing wildly. Let me know if that works better!

    • @Oearth

      I use a relative cheap one called AVS4YOU (Audio Visual Studio for You). It's $60 for a "lifetime" subscription and free updates. Opinions: It has a fairly rich set of features. Interface is intuitive. It has occasionally locked up with certain functions, mainly applying text overlay, but it's not too bad...and recent software update "seems" to of smoothed that out (so they do put out updates now and then). "Lifetime" is a little relative as the app is keyed to your hard drive - if you change the hard drive, you have to re-purchase, BUT, when I complained about it and wrote their support desk, they gave me a 50% off discount code, so at $30 to re-purchase, I could live with it. AVS4YOU also comes with a suite of tools available for audio editing, image conversion, and such.

    There's some logical problems with the way this works...
    If it's genuinely that unstable and there's no tech to stabilise it, how do the refining stations keep hold of it long enough to process it?
    I mean, it's interesting in terms of gameplay, but something this unstable would have to be processed onsite in the real world I think.
    And even then that would only be plausible if it's possible to reprocess it into something more stable until further work can be done with it...

      @Oearth  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Happy Sappy has given the top tier ones for sure. You can also make good profit on Hephestanite, Diamonds, and Titanium. In truth, it's also about what percentage there is in a rock relative to inert materials. For instance, I can make twice as much off Copper that is in a 100% pure extractable chunk (which is fairly common) relative to a 10% quantity of Taranite (which finding in lower quantities is also pretty common). Sometime you get lucky and do get a couple 100% chunks of the top tier ores, but just mentioning that it does require some mental strategy that is well beyond focusing on the top tier ores. I've got several videos on the topic, but you might find this one interesting :th-cam.com/video/FPZHHSd8nuA/w-d-xo.html There are other that further refine rock contents and sizes and mining strats in the overall playlist. Hope all this helps!! =)

      Once purchased, they are in your inventory. If you use your mobiglass and open the ship customization, you'll see the laser equipped on your prospector or Mole. If that laser has slot for consumables, you load them in like other ship components. To use them, they are hot-keyed by default to numbers 1, 2, 3 from the top down as seen in the mobi-glass (but double check those keybindings in game). Some laser only have one slot, some have 3, and some have none. Hope that helps!
