WowwowWOW WOW! This is big. I don't think people realize how big this is. IMHO this is the first example of in-depth gameplay outside of flight combat that communicates the style of gameplay players can expect. And you're basically the first to cover it. Can't thank you enough for this Twerk, looking forward to closer look into this.
The problem is they're grabbing low hanging fruit. Mining gameplay is pretty well established. And they're tacking onto that. But I would love to see tier zero salvage/medical/long range scanning/loot and player to player transactions before I see any more mining work done. get everything in tier zero no matter how immersion breaking it is and then go back and start working each loop.
Fantastic video, especially on a very important topic. I am not a miner but this is a good example of the gameplay depth that CIG wants to reach for non combat related features. Finally!
Amazing content ! Pleasantly surprised by the quality. Hope you’ll consider doing more information videos like this and maybe even update this one later on for mining !
Actually I'm kinda glad this exists. I haven't bought any lasers yet and I really don't want to dump money into a laser that may or may not work like I think. I've found ways to make the prospector mine rocks that it shouldn't by basically painting the rock with the laser and moving around it, I suppose it hits multiple sweet spots and pushes the fracture energy up, but it's time consuming and sucks toes for trying to mine things like Laranite which have a very high instability that bleeds your energy off by many % per second when you hit a bad spot on the rock.
I know this video is months old but it still helped me greatly so thank you. I bought a Prospector yesterday of the pledge website and was mining with the default laser. Couldn't crack the toughest rocks with it, but I just upgraded to that powerfull but risky Klein laser. will be using that until I can afford a Helix laser. If I find the Klein laser to dangerous I will revert to a Hofstede laser until I buy a Helix. Thanks alot :)
I wish other ship components had this clear kind of info. Actual numbers we can see and clear buffs/debuffs. Hopefully this type of system will transfer over to all ship components.
Nice vid. I would have added some heads as examples in the stat explanation part though. For something practical to attach the abstract numbers to. I feel a bit confused still after this, but mostly just about what + and - means on the diff stats. I'll watch it again probably, but I think if the min and max heads for each stat were explained with an example head and footage, it would have come through easily in the first watch. It was hard not to space a bit during the pure listing of both stats and head. Regardless, I'm sure it's all accurate and thanks for putting this together!
I have a question I was playing EVE I going mining I was always attacked, Is Star Citizen the same way, Mining is pretty much all I would do so is it worth my time
At this point there's no reason to attack miners except if you're a sociopath. You can't steal their cargo/ores yet as it isn't in-game. So being a miner is relatively safe because most miners are not gonna have boys just flying around protecting them so PvPers who are looking for a defense/attack scenario aren't going to get it. The only people attacking miners are sociopaths. Luckily they are few and far between but when you can steal cargo, I would expect that they would increase in frequency.
I tried mining and found it fun but the huge turnoff was that I couldn't mine most of the rocks I found with the stock lazer, I upgraded to the 12k Lazer and still couldn't mine the high-end rocks as the mass was too much. The second turnoff was that I would mine for a couple of hours and make from 3k to 7k in credits but I can do a cargo run in mins and make more than that. Heck, I can do a quest and make more than that. So the first impression of the prospector is a huge negative
another adequate video. you should enable subscribing on youtube. whatever they call it. membership?? i'm sure theres one or two peeps that would click that button.
@@SaltEMike There is other game play? Ship combat, fps combat, missions, and hauling. All of which are not best in class but improving slowly. The game really only shine on visuals and the meshing of all the elements into one game done very well. Mining is diffidently the most unique game play and interesting.
@@SaltEMike Mechanics is the right word, not gameplay, everything you do in the game is gamelplay, flying around the moon or planet is gameplay, if not you need to tell those Elite Dangerous players exploring their vast universe it's not gameplay. LOL Good video By the way.
Just made enough to rent a prospector for a day or two in 3.8. I've been thinking about doing it to try and upgrade to something bigger. My only fear is that the gameplay is really boring. I got burned bad by mining in Eve, SOOOO BORING! Sadly combat doesn't pay all that much if you aren't an outlaw lol.
I've never looked into mining and you've got a lot of interesting info here on how it works. However, I found the vid hard to listen to because your "s" hits really hard and sharp on some words with an s in them. Perhaps you could look into a mic filter or different mic setup to tone those pops and sharpness down.
Those additional mining heads wont be available to rented ships.. That stops the whole fun completely. YES i know that renting should be a bit different etc.. yadda yadda, but please then give use PERSISTANCE so we dont have to roam around trying to earn for prospector and trying to equip it.
The quality of your content with visuals and descriptions is pretty well done. Good job man. Thanks

Looks super-exciting... lol
@@itsjojo727 They don't do that. All they do is add endless detail instead of making an actual game
Now give us a way to see the distance from the objects!
And maybe a compass so you're not flying in circles.

Very well done sir, thanks to you and thanks to your helpers. Cool shot at the end with all the varied prospectors.
Yea they saved my butt...
@@SaltEMike yeah, that's alot of data to break down. And so fast...

New one coming with the Consumables update I glad you enjoyed it!
Is not an introduction man.... it is a "Complete Mining Laser Heads in Star Citizen 3.8 guide", thx a lot.
I just didn’t have data for the new lasers and now I know which ones I like on my Mole...more to come.
This channel is improving steadily! Well done!
Lets gooooooo Mike!! Your content has totally improved man, and I'm lovin it.
Very enjoyable video, full of useful information thanks😉
Great, to the point info! Breath of fresh air... Keep it up man! Subbed

It will...
This is some great content dude. Really well done ! One of my favourite SC streamers is now starting to post some of my favourite SC youtube vids.
Thank you bro
Thanks for this one, look forward to the follow-up
Good video. This is your calling. Not the news stuff or even the talk show stuff.
This is what I have wanted to do for years, the game can finally support it...

Damn this came out clean af 👍🏽
Thanks for the great info SaltEMike! Great stuff!
Great video bro!! FeralCarr in the verse! Also from Orlando (Longwood)
Florida in the house!
Very nice video. Can you tell me where I can buy the focus lense for the impact mining laser?
Levski Delamar, at Dumpers Depot, stay upstairs at the market on the left side, take the first hallway.
How and where can change mining Lazer? I can't when I do F1 Véhicule loadout manager
thanks for the info cant wait for you next vid on this topic
Good stuff, easy to digest information, ty

I want a handful of different mining tools or multitool components for FPS mining as well now :)

great Vid, is there a link for some helpful mining locations lists and what to mine?
It’s all changed I’m working on it...need time.
When you say negative numbers, are you meaning actually negative numbers or just numbers below 1 ?
People say CIG doesn't do gameplay, mining gives me a lot of hope.
It’s the only gameplay they have done and they have done it well.

I didnt hear it but who gets the loot when that rock breaks at the end?
prospector is looking more and more viable now
Knocking them out of the park now
Please say you have a mining org called 'Salt Mining' ^^
I buy laser head money was gone but there was nothing to equip in my ship loadup so buying these things is broken at least for me

In other words, a rented Prospector is now completely useless as you cannot change the mining head. I found out the hard way.
how to laser upgrade??
This was helpful ty.
Did he say back on Jan 23rd?!

One small suggestion turn off face cam when recording for you tube video. Its slightly distracting.
That was the plan, but time kind of caught up with me so I used some livestream clips.
