    Even from a veteran miner this is the best mining guide out there in TH-cam. A well organised and structured video. Well done!

    • @Jett_Heller
      @Jett_Heller 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Christos Montariou All depends on what is your definition of veteran. Veteran usually is described as long experience in a particular field. Mining has been "in game" for quite a while now. Just because it is still in Alpha does not disqualify a person from having extensive experience in something...

    For me who doesn't mine at all, this is very good for me and will definitly be using it every time i go and try mining. Thank you for the guide, very well done. The build information is really great to have for people starting out and what to work for when upgrading the mining lasers once you have enough UEC.

    I'm a long time Elite Dangerous player where I have done a lot of mining. Now I am looking at starting my SC adventure and the mining aspect of the game interests me the most. Great video Mike! I get asked so many questions everyday about mining, especially with the changes in 3.12. The ship builds section is very nice touch and glad you put that in. I think the things you didn't cover are things best discovered while playing, all that comes with experience and finding what works best for you.

    Really nice rundown and I'm loving the mining gameplay with where its at.
    I'd hadn't thought to add two of the same consumable on different slots!
    Just a few things I'd change with the mining so far (bugs aside)
    1) You should be able to either split your refining jobs or pick them up in separate loads. I bought a Prospector in-game and I only have a Titan for transport. So at the moment, it's impossible to transport a full prospectors worth of refined goods. You have to rent a Cutlass which obviously eats into profits.
    2) The drinks station between the ore trade terminal and the refining terminal should have free tea/coffee and biscuits.
    That's it honestly, everything else is really smooth.

    A lot of information. Thank you for the work you put into the video.
    As a new player (Spent a few hours yesterday running around ingame) Having watched SC videos all day today due to not being able to get in game till 11:30 tonight, I find that for being claimed as one of the best starter activities this all seems intimidatingly complex. I will be starting out with a Nomad or Cutlass and a ROC If I can swing it. I was hoping I could just point and shoot without all the consumables/extras. You mentioned Hadonite on or around Ariel being a simpler way to go about it. Space mining is my goal later on as I can afford it and they stop with the intermittent wipes.
    I prefer the carebear jack of all trades role myself. Mining and more industrial pursuits suit me better than combat which I seem to suck at in pvp.
    I get the power levels and zones talk but the consumables and timing stuff is confusing.
    Anyway. It is a lot of information and I thank you for it.

    Protip use an absolute axis for mining laser power. Typically a knob, slider, or analog trigger any device. This allows you to set power precisely and nearly instantaneously to the desired level with the only limitation being your reflexes and latency.

    Thank you very much for your updated guide, it really helps detailing the steps because with all the bugs and gameplay bug generated wiggling - is it right, is it wrong what can be done to fix it or work around etc. Like presently it is left click and hold to complete the final detail scan. These variations create a lot of confusion. They really need to seize the day and make a full on tutorial and learn n play mission tutorial or people new or returning to Star Citizen. I think the game is getting closer to being more accessible for people as they can complete activities more reliably. I feel CI needs to do this as more test data is usually better than less test data.

    Thanks for this, good vid. I used to mine a lot, and it fell off for me since the nerf (requiring consumables for higher value/yields and the increased time in elevators is the biggest issue here). Not sure I'll get back to it for now, the limited amount of things that can be mined without consumable is frustrating to me. Having to plan so much ahead in a world where you cannot scan for a specific mineral makes the change underwhelming to me. If the price where to come back similar as before, I could get behind it, but as is, nha. Will skip until it's updated again, may skip until the Orion is released even, since it's really not that profitable anymore. Combat missions are ROC mining are a lot better money wise.

  • @tticd
    @tticd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great post - only thing I'd disagree on is that second number on the scan: I'd argue that's the most important number as it indicates the purity of the element in the rock. Took me forever to figure that out, but if something is Agricium 20.00 - 2.00, or Agricium 15.00 - 20.00, the second one will be FAR more likely to break off 90%+ chunks, whereas the first will likely have crumbs buried in with inert or worthless ore. I'll tend to skip any rock with a purity less than 10.00 unless the percentage of the ore present is huge.

      @@SaltEMike Yeah, it's not obvious at all and they never explained it. I heard it from....someone. In game, I think? And then I started looking at it, and yeah: it lines up. So that second number might be the most important one.

    Is ROC mining as complicated as ship mining?
    There are no consumables for it, but does it matter what laser I put on a ROC? What do you do with ROC cargo? Can it be refined too? Just park it in the station with a refinery, inside your cutlass?
