Dr. Frances Cress Welsing, The Relationship between Black Men and White Women (Full Interview 1973)

  • Dr Frances Cress Welsing and Alvin Francis Poussaint, M.D discuss the relationship between Black Men and White Woman. Both considered experts on a wide range of issues involving the black community and the study of the psychological effects that racism has on black people in their relation to white people and the world.
The threat of white-black racial amalgamation coupled with post-slavery black competition in social and economic spheres struck fear into the hearts of white men across the South and compelled them to reassert their power over both their' women and the black men who were their competition. Much of the Southern public was blinded with fear and rage at the idea of a black man with a white woman. A lynching was most likely to occur in cases where a black man had been convicted of outraging' (raping) a white woman, though a lack of conviction did not mean whites presupposed an accused negro's innocence.

She told the truth and it is a truth Black women and White men don't like to hear, that it is White women who seek out the Black man. White ,men and Black women, like to lie to themselves that the Black man only gets fat and ugly white women that White men don't want. It is a lie, and it is not about money either. Many rich white women go with poor Black men it is simply that the media goes out of their way not to show these scenarios. The state will only jump in to support the White woman if there is eventually trouble between the two (White woman and Black man) Then the state jumps in like they are there to rescue the White woman.

I am a white man living in America and not at all offended by being understood as having a genetic mutation. I was born and brought up in southern Louisiana and lived here all of my 75 years. I know first-hand what white supremacy is about, having relatives who have engaged in horrific acts of violence. I agree, it is NOT enough to say I’m sorry and it is far too easy to say that was “them” and “not me”! So now, I’m trying to figure out my part on how to combat outwardly and inwardly the evil of racism.
I think Dr. Welsing is spot on, the most inciteful spokesperson on this topic of our time!

You can start by stopping identifying with whteness. Race is a social construct and has no biological bearing. There is no culture behind it unless you count hatred, exploitation, and colonization. Blck, in America, is an ethnicity and is used due to not knowing exactly where predecessors came from, predecessors of various admixtures, and tribal affiliations. Because, let's be frank, the majority of modern countries on the African continent are based on what various Eurasians decided them to be and remains a place heavily influenced by Tribalism. Whteness is something that can be granted or taken away as it is a system of privilege and oppression. You have a relative idea of where you descend from plus can always use your nationality/ethnicity to identify yourself. Of course, you are whte and have whte privilege and will be seen as such but acknowledging the systems in place and rejecting them is a good start. If you're able, take some classes, watch videos, and read books on race, ethnicity, nationality, class, gender, intersectionality, etc, from quality cited sources. NYTN is a great TH-cam channel that is very informative on the truth about race.

Can’t blame her personally , growing up among the walking dead, she wants to live and have brown or beige children who DDs knows will be accepted and groomed by US. BUT she also knows she is in control of him if not her father, and so does her incoming mate accept that she is in control, that he’d rather be white adjacent than Black because of the power dynamic. ALL of their friends are white. He can do things with her that he would not be allowed to do as half of a Black couple like drive up I 95 to New Hampshire for Christmas without misadventure. Period. Until white supremacy is discredited and abandoned, entirely - B lack men and women of color will be alienated from each other. We human beings are each and all commanded by both internal forces ( Freud, Jung, et al) and external forces ( Fanon, Welsing, James). Both/ and never either/or. That I s the difficulty right there/ how we negotiate or mediate between these forces is critical for our survival and dignity as a distinct culture.

Unfortunately, the hate group managed to rear its ugly head, while returning back in the 1920's. It doesn't help when the country has leadership back by hate groups that have been emboldened by such racism of power in the world of politics in the 21st century.

I understand the context of her time, and I don't doubt her intelligence. But, am I the only one who thinks that the whole premise of her argument is wrong? The idea that there is a white supremacy system which every white person is obsessed with maintaining is preposterous. It sounds nice as an argument, but for all practical purposes, this is not what happens or goes through people's mind in real life. Normal human beings have way more important things to worry about (health, stress) than to make sure a supposed privilege system is carried on through generations.

She fails to factor in, the purely mechanical aspect of sex: slavery or not, supremacism or not, domination or not, oppression or not, if you put 2 races in the same geographical area, you will have a certain percentage of race mixing. It doesn't matter what laws you put in place, it will happen for purely biological and mechanical reasons.
In China for example, with the arrival of many Africans in China in the early 2000s, the number of interracial couples increased. Africans were never slaves or dominated by Chinese. How can the reasoning of the lady in video holds in that situation?

You're out of your mind if you believe the current system is kind to whites, especially white Christian men, who laid the foundation of America. The tables turned in the West, and the Ashkenazi Jews, in particular, outsmarted the white Europeans. They took over with their cunning maneuvers in banking, real estate ventures, and media control. Today, it's all about Jewish or Israeli supremacy in every sector - whether it's BlackRock pulling the strings in corporations and finances, or the government itself where 90% of Biden's administration is made up of Jews.
A white man can't dare speak up for white power or form an organization advocating for the interests of white people without being immediately cast aside, disenfranchised, deplatformed, or branded a racist Nazi. Meanwhile, minorities such as women, LGBTQ, black, or Hispanic individuals are showered with favoritism in the hiring process through DEI initiatives. They enjoy the luxury of affirmative action and countless organizations fighting tooth and nail for them, providing loans, government funding, and whatnot.
Whites are incessantly blamed for the world's problems, and the notion that "it's not okay to be white" didn't just materialize out of thin air. As someone not originally from America but with a brief stint living there, it's clear as an outsider that the significant portion of violent crime attributed to young black males isn't rooted in systemic racism. It's about family dynamics, as Thomas Sowell rightfully pointed out. You don't begin by changing the world; you start with yourself and your family. Raise kids with love, discipline, and a sense of belonging so they don't end up seeking those things in gang culture, drugs, or prostitution!

Queen Welsing always never wasted time dwelling on surface of any human dynamic. She was always far ahead of her time and too deep for the typical masses. I'm so proud she refused to stay in her place, and was authentic no matter who was present. For some strange reason, planet earth immortals cannot honor and give credit to Black women as deep and intelligent as Dr. Welsing, who would have been "dangerous" to status quo powers in any age or epoch.

In these IR relationships, one or both parties has to be either totally submissive or highly narcissistic in order for the relationship to survive. One or both of them will either have to yield completely to the other in every respective situation, or else one or the other will have to be so addicted to the public attention (whether negative or positive or both) they get from the contrast of the IR aesthetic that they wouldn't give it up for the world. I think sometimes it's a combination of both the dominant/submissive (sadomasochistic) dynamic AND the extreme narcissism of one or both participants.

There is a factual, observable mechanical aspect of sex that she is not taking into account when constructing her theory. It doesn't matter what power dynamics you have between 2 races, if you put the said races in the same geographical area, YOU WILL have a certain percentage of race mixing. It will happen for purely biological and mechanical reasons.

The unconscious is always present and the world within which we all live might not take centre stage in our homes or relationships, yet they have an impact and influence our choices and ‘feelings’.

I think these men felt so belittled by her well thought it hypothesis, they had no where to run with them weak defensive rebuttals. I lost count on the way her delicate "reads" had them literally grasping at air.

Never cease to amaze me how you women often choose a moment to ridicule a Black man, even on 60-year-old video historical archives.
I guarantee you are unpleasant to interact with.

Dr. Welsing’s analysis/conclusions are absolutely correct. When I was a teenager I read a book entitled “Racism and Sexism in America” - that explored, in part how blacks (and black men) and whites (white women) were portrayed in media/entertainment, imagery. At the time, I was trying to become more knowledgeable about the “whys” of the world. Also, if you go back and watch black themed films from the 70s, namely “Shaft” , “Superfly “ and “Slaughter “ - the black male leads bedded white women!🤔

DAMNNNN..This was insanely deep. Abysmal deep into racism and understanding the root of everything that is occuring today. These 3 were phenomenal but Dr. Welsing is the MVP here.
