As a big fan of planet zoo youtube but someone who has never actually played the game, this video really helped me pick out the dlcs I want to spend my money on
Before the video even started I was thinking "personally, the conservation pack has some of the most fundamental building features and it has a great message behind it" and then as I watched the list dwindle as we got near the top I was just so happy to see you validate that opinion as well.
I always love your builds, they look not only beautiful but also so realistic. Watching you rank the packs was very fun, especially since I can really relate to being more excited for the European Animals (as someone from Germany)! :D
As I said - everyone has their preferences! The animal rankings that I added as a "bonus" where based not only on the appearance of the animal but also it's uniqueness and how much I wanted them in the game so there were a lot of factors. I still love the American Alligator!
ive only been playing planet zoo for a few months and wasn't sure what my first DLC would be, so I searched on youtube "best planet zoo DLC" and this was the first vid, so whatever one ends up being number 1 I will get and update you later on my thoughts, edit/ update, its really good haha, I love the animals and extra education, and the build stuff is soooo good,

I always find other peoples ranking interesting, as it tends to be so different from my own ranking. I especially liked your explanation if the building pieces. I for example used to hate the building pieces in the europe pack, but I also was more focussing on the themed ones (how much colored glass do you need in a zoo, eh?), but you pointing out the smaller pieces really made me realise how much more I should use those to improve my builds. I would be up for an animal ranking, yes. Especially since we share our critique on the south america pack. :D Most people love it, because it has a jaguar, but gosh, it's a bad model, honestly.

You should do a ranking of all the buildings sets, how good or representative are, how much do they add, how well can you combine it with other sets, and how good or inspiring their blueprints are
i recently engage with this game, I really love the grassland and wetlands pack. the capibara is my favourite neighboor and one of my favourite animals, and the addition of the Aguara guazu (or maned wolf) was a surprise for me, they are seriously endangered. i feel like this game need more animals. A Patagonia pack (with dinosaur bones, and archeological structures and caverns, and the so interesting animals from there (Sea elephant, Magellan pinguin, Guanaco, ñandu (south american ostrich) and the Burrowing parrot. a Japanese pack (only fort using sakura trees and architecture) and animals like the tanuki, the fyling siberian squirrel, the serow and ¿why this game hasnt got aquariums?
I didn't think I was going to like the Conservation Pack--I'm not into the animals in there, but I find myself using those pieces a lot to build. I just made a horse habitat in my new zoo and I've stepped up my game with null barriers. I think I will get Twilight Next (again had no real interest in the "theme") because many people say it's very versatile.
Put it this way, my 5 favourite animals are The Maned Wolf, European Magpie, Cassowary, African Wild Dog and Okapi. So... my favourite packs are the ones that added one of my favourite animals. Oh, I also adore red foxes, and the pieces for the Twilight Pack were awesome, so thats definitely top 5 for me.

Well, some people are making their own rankings, so let me make mine: 17- Deluxe Edition, for the reasons stated in the video, which I very much agree with. 16- Arctic Pack, also pretty much agree with what's in the video, not a lot of wiggle room for it. 15- Southeast Asia Animal Pack. When it first came out I felt cheated, honestly. It's basically a mammal-only pack, when southeast Asia has such a diverse bird and reptile fauna, and it seriously suffers from "we already have that" syndrome with the dholes. 14- Arid Animal Pack. Again, fairly mammal-centric, with the saving grace being how good the dromedary, black rhino, addax and porcupine look. It very much feels like most of these should've been in the base game, though. 13- Eurasia Animal Pack. Other than the swan, I'm not too crazy about any of the animals here. The saiga and wolverine are fine, but the tortoise sticks out as an animal that shouldn't be in an exhibit box, and the wisent feels incredibly redundant. I'll say, if the markhor was here I'd rank it higher. 12- Europe Pack. As a brazilian, I'm not a huge fan of european wildlife, but the animals here are good enough. The building pieces are fairly useful too, I just don't see myself going to a zoo to see a badger. That's a me thing, though. 11- Twilight Pack. As much as I like the smaller animals, it feels like most of these are kind of unnecessary, and the red fox, again, tests my patience with yet another red dog, but the egyptian fruit bat was such a game changer, and the building pieces here are so good, that I can't help but rank it a little higher. 10- North America Animal Pack. Some fan favorites are here, but the beaver and moose feel out of place. Not because they're not iconic, but because they're so uncommon in zoos. The bullfrog could also have been something a little more inspired, like a snapping turtle, but otherwise this pack is great. 9- Tropical Pack. I feel like I was too harsh on it in the past because it didn't have any birds, but I don't really have anything against the animals here. The sloth is a good pick, and I've warmed up to the lar gibbon due to it looking a little better than the siamangs. The building pieces feel seriously out of place, though. 8- Africa Pack. Here, it's the animals that shine, cause the building pieces certainly don't, I use them fairly rarely. But the new animals look insanely good, and it was at this point that I felt the game was more or less complete, as only meerkats and african rhinos were missing for me at the time. 7- Grasslands Animal Pack. With so many animals from the southern hemisphere, and the sheer quality of the models, it's kind of hard not to love this one. 6- Wetlands Animal Pack. Again, my bias might be showing here, but the simple addition of the capybara elevates this one beyond a much lower spot. The red crowned crane also makes me incredibly happy. Seriously, every bird is welcome. 5- Australia Pack. I fell in love with both the animals and the building pieces, and it is basically almost perfect, but I'm not a fan of the dingo. It feels like it's not as iconic of an australian animal as many of the others. It's less troublesome now that the wombat and tasmanian devil have made it, but still, red dog syndrome rages on. If either the dingo or the dhole weren't in the game, I'd be much nicer to whichever one remained. 4- South America Pack. I mean, my bias is showing here, but I adore every single animal in this pack, and do feel like they should've been in the game from the start, but still. The building pieces and plants are often fairly useful to me too. 3- Aquatic Pack. This one might be one of my favorite ones ever, as not only does it have a fairly non-mammal centric roster, but the building pieces are very versatile, and often find their way to my zoos. 2- Oceania Pack. As I said, more birds are always welcome, and the building pieces here certainly do help. The only thing keeping it from being number one, is the fact we got another bat instead of lorikeets. I mean, come on. Still, it is otherwise a perfect pack, only losing to... 1- Conservation Pack. Yeah, this one hits all the sweet spots. The animal selection is basically perfect, even if most of them are mammals, because they're VERY noteworthy mammals. And the building pieces here are gorgeous too, pretty much guaranteed to find their way to my zoos. So there you have it, my personal opinion, just here to generate some discussion and give this video some well deserved traction.
I love to see everyone's ranking and read the explanations! It so interesting that we all have those different opinions and it just proofs that there will probably never be a pack that would make everyone happy! Great ranking and I totally get your point of view!
One of my favorite Planet Zoo pack is the Oceania pack which added brackiation to the Orangutan, the viewing domes and one of my favorite animal ever is the Tasmanian Devil.
conservation pack is also hands down the best pack for me. :) I was a bit late to the planet zoo part, so I havent had all the animals yet so its hard to pick favorites haha
Was looking oon all the animals in your elm zoo. Some of my favorite animals are Bears, But haven’t build Amy beat habitats could you make one. Good video 👍
For me, one of my favorite packs was the aquatic pack, another one I also liked is the north american pack, I really enjoyed the spread of animals surrounding that pack. I can't really judge because I don't own all packs. I am planning on buying the european pack for the building items. Missing 81 cents is quite annoying tho.
@@CesarCreates I happen to have bought the Europe pack recently, it's alright in my opinion. I prefer focusing on the animals as they are so much more interesting in my opinion. I'd love having the arctic pack tho, as I recently got into building.
I think ranking all the DLCs is really difficult....The only thing I can definitely say is that the Deluxe Pack is the last one. But then it gets very hard (literally all of these packs have so amazing animals tiat it's impossible for me to make a proper ranking). To be honest, if someone asks, which packs he/she should definitely buy...my answer would always be, all of them😄. Just because of the great variety of animals we now have.
Yeah doing this ranking was sooo difficult!! I only knew the last 4 packs and the first place. Everything in between was so hard to rank! I also always say people to just buy them all 😆
I’m offended that you ranked the blue tongue lizard so low compared to the other animals in the Australia pack! I’m only kidding lol, ig it makes sense being an exhibit animal and they’re not as iconic as the other species listed. I’d personally rank it number 1, only because I actually have 3 as pets :p
Yeah it's so hard to compare the exhibit species to the habitat animals. I personally love the blue tonged lizard and if I were to rank all the exhibit species it would probably be ranked high!
I will wait for an official confirmation if it is truly the last pack or not. Right now it’s more like a speculation and we all know that Frontier likes to surprise us
Honestly a solid tier list. My only disagreement would be SEA should be higher. It is forgettable but I think really taken for granted. It hugely bolsters out tropical Southeast Asia and without it, SEA would be another South Americ situation!
They should just unlock for you when you buy the DLC if you play the sandbox mode. In franchise you will have to research the new building theme to unlock it
I don’t think so because I’m in my office right next door and I’m working from my house right now but I’m going home now and then I’m leaving for the airport so I’ll call him later and let me see what he’s got going to be doing I don’t know what to do I think
Not sure about the current prices because they often change. I would recommend to check on Steam for the current prices and deals. I am sure that they are selling a base game with all the dlcs as one package and it should be a good deal

I literally started crying after buying the Eurasia pack because i mixed it up with the european pack and because the literally comes with no items ??? It only has animals and signs for said animals, it doesnt even have new plants
I'm disagreeing with almost anything, placing the monitor above the fossa? But yeah, you are another realistic zoo player, I don't compare myself at the same level as realistic builders, I want to see lists of more diverse builders that don't build only realistic boring zoo's that I can already visit in the real world. Babirusa are some of the best animals in the game btw, don't understand why you don't want itl. And why nobody in this freaking world loves wild goats? They are always forgotten, placed lowest and not mentioned, we needed the Ibex the most out of that pack, that is a straight fact.
Well, you are very welcome to disagree as it is my PERSONAL ranking. We all have different opinions and things we like. I actually find it really interesting to see what packs are preferred by different people. Yes, I love reptiles and I have a soft spot for all the lizards and I loved the addition of the Asian Water Monitor. It is also an animal that suits perfectly to the reptile houses that I really like to build. I am not a huge fan of the Fossa model, especially the babies that should have bigger ears and eyes and it's not a very common zoo animal. Babirusa is cool. Don't get me wrong here. I like it but I think that there are other Southeast Asian animals that would be a bit more exciting to me. I agree that we needed to have the Ibex in the game. I am again not a huge fan of the model of the Ibex and I just personally like the other animals a bit more but to me all the animals in the Europe Pack are really good. If you think that realistic zoos are boring there are plenty of other creators out there that do unrealistic stuff. This is a zoo game created to allow you to build a zoo so I don't think it is so surprising to see a lot of us do just that 😅
The main reason why i ant all of the packs: Deluxe Pack: Kamodo Dragon Arctic Pack: Reindeer, Coke Bear South America: All the animals -more at 5 likes- More when i feel like making more
I disagree as some of the base game animals look incredible - even better than some of the animals added later. I am not comparing graphics here but the animal design in general. There was a time when Frontier tried to make the animals look a bit too stylized and cartoonish and now they go for more realistic look and I prefer it so much more

Yeah I also use the Conservation Pack a lot for building. The same goes for the Twilight pack. I would really recommend to get it as well!

1- Conservation Pack. Yeah, this one hits all the sweet spots. The animal selection is basically perfect, even if most of them are mammals, because they're VERY noteworthy mammals. And the building pieces here are gorgeous too, pretty much guaranteed to find their way to my zoos.
So there you have it, my personal opinion, just here to generate some discussion and give this video some well deserved traction.

One of my favorite Planet Zoo pack is the Oceania pack which added brackiation to the Orangutan, the viewing domes and one of my favorite animal ever is the Tasmanian Devil.
The brachiation and viewing domes are actually part of the free update not a DLC but the Oceania Pack is still a really cool Pack!
conservation pack is also hands down the best pack for me. :) I was a bit late to the planet zoo part, so I havent had all the animals yet so its hard to pick favorites haha

For me, one of my favorite packs was the aquatic pack, another one I also liked is the north american pack, I really enjoyed the spread of animals surrounding that pack. I can't really judge because I don't own all packs. I am planning on buying the european pack for the building items. Missing 81 cents is quite annoying tho.
I would really recommend getting the Europe Pack because the building pieces are incredible!!

I prefer focusing on the animals as they are so much more interesting in my opinion. I'd love having the arctic pack tho, as I recently got into building.

I think ranking all the DLCs is really difficult....The only thing I can definitely say is that the Deluxe Pack is the last one. But then it gets very hard (literally all of these packs have so amazing animals tiat it's impossible for me to make a proper ranking).
To be honest, if someone asks, which packs he/she should definitely buy...my answer would always be, all of them😄. Just because of the great variety of animals we now have.

I’m offended that you ranked the blue tongue lizard so low compared to the other animals in the Australia pack! I’m only kidding lol, ig it makes sense being an exhibit animal and they’re not as iconic as the other species listed. I’d personally rank it number 1, only because I actually have 3 as pets :p
Yeah it's so hard to compare the exhibit species to the habitat animals. I personally love the blue tonged lizard and if I were to rank all the exhibit species it would probably be ranked high!

Honestly a solid tier list. My only disagreement would be SEA should be higher. It is forgettable but I think really taken for granted. It hugely bolsters out tropical Southeast Asia and without it, SEA would be another South Americ situation!

how to use buildings from dlc?
They should just unlock for you when you buy the DLC if you play the sandbox mode. In franchise you will have to research the new building theme to unlock it

Yeah it is an Animal Pack. Animal Packs include more species of animals than normal packs but no building pieces.

I'm disagreeing with almost anything, placing the monitor above the fossa? But yeah, you are another realistic zoo player, I don't compare myself at the same level as realistic builders, I want to see lists of more diverse builders that don't build only realistic boring zoo's that I can already visit in the real world.

Well, you are very welcome to disagree as it is my PERSONAL ranking. We all have different opinions and things we like. I actually find it really interesting to see what packs are preferred by different people.
Yes, I love reptiles and I have a soft spot for all the lizards and I loved the addition of the Asian Water Monitor. It is also an animal that suits perfectly to the reptile houses that I really like to build. I am not a huge fan of the Fossa model, especially the babies that should have bigger ears and eyes and it's not a very common zoo animal.
Babirusa is cool. Don't get me wrong here. I like it but I think that there are other Southeast Asian animals that would be a bit more exciting to me.
I agree that we needed to have the Ibex in the game. I am again not a huge fan of the model of the Ibex and I just personally like the other animals a bit more but to me all the animals in the Europe Pack are really good.
If you think that realistic zoos are boring there are plenty of other creators out there that do unrealistic stuff. This is a zoo game created to allow you to build a zoo so I don't think it is so surprising to see a lot of us do just that 😅

I disagree as some of the base game animals look incredible - even better than some of the animals added later. I am not comparing graphics here but the animal design in general. There was a time when Frontier tried to make the animals look a bit too stylized and cartoonish and now they go for more realistic look and I prefer it so much more
