for the power sources, if you separate the right 2 spawn points/right zoo entrance, and the left ones, you actually get TWO free power sources! I've started separating them further apart to cover a wider range in the beginning!
I have you to thank for the setting limits for myself when playing because I have the same issue with games/movies/tv shows! It absolutely has helped with planet zoo taking a page out of your book and coming up with some kind of theme or limit. I have also found that asking my friends to choose some animals helps get me going too because they usually will pick something that I never would!
Fantastic set of tips! Between this and when you mention what controls you use in your longer series for building has really helped me have more fun building in this game. Been watching your eco zoo series and loving it too. It's really relaxing. Hope you're having a good day if you see this :)
I’ve had this game for ages, I used to play zoo tycoon way back in the forever ago, but Ive never understood how to play this fully, always struggle with design and profit and thank you, thank you so much for these videos. The frustration I have playing this game because it doesn’t really tell you too much about these things when you play, you’ve definitely given me some confidence in my game play and have given be some of that excitement back. Thank you
I got Planet Zoo yesterday. Glad to find your chanel as it's gonna be a learning curve. I'm usually a Sims player, but I love animals so good seems a good choice for me. I'll be checking your tutorials and tips for sure. 😊
@@sneezingProtogen I hope you love it as much as I do. PC or console, it's a great game. I'm surprising myself by playing this instead of the sims since I got it. They're clearly now my 2 favourite. Sims and Planet Zoo 👏💚
I appreciate the tips! I have watched as many playlists as you have created before I ever started my first zoo. I actually like having 2 vets and 2 mechanics when starting your very first zoo. This is to allow for one to research and the other to handle chores, especially for the mechanic to get research done on power, barriers, shelters, etc. The sooner you can get the solar power researched, the sooner you can start saving money. ... I also get a caretaker right away because I will have vendors for food and drink and a bathroom right near the entrance almost immediately. ... With my first zoo, I placed a central area as people enter the zoo with an information center, bathroom, 1 food, 1 drink, and several exhibits then later added meerkats and red foxes. It was a good enough solid start. Another tip: when selecting animals, look to see who can be housed with who. This will save on habitats that you need to create and enrich your animals at the same time. I also do not add the next habitat until I have all the research done for the animals in my latest habitat. This increases the money that can be gained as well as increases the animals enjoyment. Viewing domes are amazing! ... I have yet to add Educators to my first zoo but that is next on the list once I get the African Penguins habitat set up and all their needs are all met. My first zoo has a central hub and then I am splitting off into 4 regionals area by biome: desert, grasslands, temperate, and aquatic. ... I have only developed the desert area with my last 2 species being the Black Rhino and African Elephant. Put the most interesting animals farther away from the entrance so guests can traverse the distance and hit vendors in between. My current vendor count is now over 30 Currently, I am 36 hours of playing time on my first zoo and have now banked over $1 million dollars without emphasizing a lot of design pieces but all my power needs are met, all my animals are happy, my guests are happy and I still have 3 regional areas to go. Happy Building!
Some great tips on this list! I think the best one is setting restrictions for yourself. It not only helps with decision paralysis - it also makes it much easier to create a cohesive zoo. My most extreme self-restriction is putting habitat animals in boxes the size of the large exhibit - in franchise mode, of course. It’s my favorite project to work on and also my most “best selling” TH-cam series. I have close to 20 different species housed in 20x12x8 meter boxes, all with a welfare rating of 95% or above. Foxes in boxes. Bongos in a box. All three species of lemurs in one large exhibit. The guests love it too because the animals are always visible.
Hey, Paws, thanks for the renewed tips, it's gonna be extremely helpful! Your videos and ideas are amazing, can't wait to see more of them! I was meaning to ask : I've been thinking about making a gaming channel and would it be okay if I used your Ethical Zoo as an inspiration for my own Zoo series? I would of course credit you and put a link to your channel, I just wanted to ask before doing any of that! I would mainly try to recreate some of your builds and such, in my own style and with some changes, as they're absolutely breathtaking! Your channel introduced me to the game, taught me the base mechanics and has been a huge source of inspiration for me. Keep up the good work!
I’m not sure if you’re required to have #ad in your title but with this being a tips and tricks video I definitely thought your sponsor was the planet zoo creators before watching. It doesn’t deter me from watching your videos either way but something to think about. I don’t play planet zoo myself but I love watching you play when i’m relaxing/trying to fall asleep. I can always count on your videos to be light hearted and soothing. Thank you ❤
Yes UK law mandates we put #ad in the title or thumbnail of any video (or post) for any sponsorship of any kind, but I completely agree it’s very misleading in its own way…the irony of UK law 🙈 Thank you for your support though that’s so lovely to hear and I’m really glad you enjoy the channel and find it relaxing / comforting ☺️☺️☺️

I've been playing this game for the past 4 months so i don't know how helpful this tip will be. BUT. When it comes to the water cleanliness, i sometimes have trouble choosing where to put the water treatment cause of the negative effect and also cause sometimes it doesn't look good in some areas so what i do is I use the terrain stamp tool and make a path underground connecting from one habitat to another one and it works the same. Basically the water treatment needs to barely touch the water from a habitat so considering those two water areas are basically one you don't need to use a second water treatment. Its not super realistic i guess but hey it does the work and less work for the mechanics too. But sometimes you have to put a small barrier in the hole so that animals wont swim underground towards another habitat ( yep i had a beaver that swam in the grizzly bear habitat, everyone made it out okay tho )
@@Desertpuma yep basically any barrier that lets water go through it. Also you can put some type of nature ( usually a big tree) where you want your new water area to be so that you will see its "xray" underground and follow the trail. I hope this makes sense.
@@marialenarev2097 Absolutely makes sense ... I wonder if it is good enough for more than 2 habitats. It brought up an idea in my head of having a single water area that encompasses 4 or 5 habitats at once just separated with the underwater barriers
Thank you very much for this video, you reignited my love for this game with your series, im playing an Artic Zoo Now just tundra living animals, and im loving it! (When i put the seals i might just try that whole swiming with the animals experience)
Abot restrictions, I have a franchise based on the world of Runeterra from league of legends, and each zoo is/will be based on a different region. My most developed zoo, based on Noxus, is only taiga animals for example, and the other zoo I’ve started; Shurima, is gonna be only desert and grassland animals :3
Thank you so much for taking the time to make these tips' videos ! I watch your channel for some time but I just started to play myself and it really helps !
Thank you! I just bought this game yesterday and all the comments I read before buying about it being overwhelming are absolutely right🤣 this is my first zoo game tho since zoo tycoon 2 on the Nintendo ds when I was like 10 so I’m absolutely loving it 😍
I really got to do the tour points and restaurant ideas. I made a big zoo without them and feel it’s gonna take too long to incorporate it but I should be able to with a small one
What an amazing video and extremely helpful tips to understand the game, construction and design a lot better. Thanks you so much! I feel I'm going to do a lot better after watching this.
I tend to build by region and biome. Like right now, I'm building a European Zoo in the Taiga biome, so all the animals I add to my zoo must be native to Europe and able to tolerate the taiga conditions. Super excited for the Eurasian pack, it'll help bolster my European roster a bit haha
As someone who’s just starting to get back into Planet Zoo (I took a break from it due yo loosing interest cause there was other Park builder game that Frontier made; Jurassic World Evo 2) this makes me realize how much there’s to learn in this game and how lacking I’ve been doing for the bare minimum. Although for the conservation boards, how can I add them? Cause I placed them down but there’s nothing for me to show them
Beautiful Video! I can almost hear your smile! :) LOVE IT!! I use loads of Exhibits first for GREAT Cash flow from donations and selling off Exhibit animal offspring. Loving the new option to have the game maintain the amount of animals in exhibits. Will you do an in-depth video of exactly how best to use this. I want to sell the lower level animals and keep the Silver/ Gold. Thank you so much for all the great info! :)
I almost all do a combo but then as a result I do also run into grid issues later that frustrate me and were completely avoidable because I’ve done a hybrid 🙈 my suggestion: don’t be me 😉
Thank you for replying ❤️ I'm starting to feel that way about my grid franchise 😆 I'm looking at it and going "I'm not sure how much freedom I'm getting from creativity with a specific shape habitat" but more so worrying about where I'm going to put more staff facilities and get them to stay away from guests but also not being far from the animals 😆 So I think I definitely should try just free handing the paths. I was even looking at real zoos for inspo and almost none have a grid area. So that's helping a lot for ideas.
I think part of that is there's so much you CAN do, but there's actually very little you MUST do. If you put down the basic staff buildings, a food and drink stall, benches, bins, and one of the blueprint Exhibits, your zoo will be profitable. My first zoo was just the basic buildings and a warthog pen. That one habitat made me enough money to hire 3 vets and do all the research unlocks. Everything beyond that is just for your fun
