@@CesarCreates This is wrong. The best way to use foliage is to make a tree out of every tree in the game to truly realise how good the trees look (i am lying you are correct)
Another tip that's good if you're going for realism is to use foliage native to or that could grow wherever your zoo is. If your zoo is in temperate area, probably don't add too many tropical plants. Add more deciduous trees and ground foliage like grasses, bushes, and ferns and it can really give the realistic effect. You can still plant tropical foliage indoors or in special locations like in planters, because they would need those specific locations to survive and humans are capable of planting them there and keeping them alive, especially in a greenhouse!\
Cesar! This is amazing! Even the first 8 minutes before you start placing plants were so descriptive and easy to follow, and it made a LOT of sense! Good job on your first tutorial!
I've spent about 700 hrs in Planet Zoo, and have watched countless hours on youtube about it aswell. Of course I knew some of the things already, however I have to say this is the most useful tutorial about Planet Zoo I've ever watched, some things I haven't thought of until today. Thanks a lot!
This is a great tutorial! I especially loved the list of your favorite plants. I would love to see a tutorial that includes a list of your favorite tiny detail construction pieces like hinges and wooden boards you use a lot.
Wow, This helps alot for my zoos! When the real-life animals showed, I was like, Wow he is so good at making Habitats, Then I realized Thats Real-life!
Great tutorial, thank you! Now I'd like to see your process for the placement of foliage clusters like these in habitats and around the park to form a nice cohesive look overall!
I can't believe this is your first tutorial, this is absolutely brilliant. I like to think of myself as a creative person but you take this game to a whole different level. This gave me so much inspiration for my next franchise zoo habitats🙌🏼
This Tutorial is incredible and I will definitely try this out! I just started the game on console and was wondering why my foliage looked that unnatural. I spent so much time in my first enclosure (red deer) and added the ruins of a castle as a hard shelter and tried to cover some parts with plants and it looks horrible now I see this video. First I thought it would be too much but in the end it looks so amazing and very natural.
Yesss caesar!! Would love to see more tutorials. Maybe on different building styles, backstage areas and realistic fencing? Very happy that you made us this gem!
Omg that's me!! Thank you so much for adding my comment Cesar, it really made my day🎉 and of courseeee thank you so much for the long-awaited tutorial 🤩❤
This is really good advice. I already did some of this stuff, but you explained some settings that I did not now existed but are so helpful. I would have preferred it if you kept to franchise requirements and no CC
Glad it was helpful! People asked me to show how I am normally doing foliage in my habitats and I always play in sandbox so I just did what most wanted to see
Hello Cesar I love ur vids! TYSM for this it will really help me while playing planet zoo console. Overall my exhibits are really detailed and i think its natural in my blood 🤷 or its probably because im so inspired by your builds and im always watching planet zoo builds that i have muscle memory. Besides, You are an amazing builder. Never give up!!! Have a nice day!!!! Also pro tip: SPAM BUFFALO GRASS IN ANY HABITAT
Also I'm building an African Grasslands Zoo. And I have a name for it but idk how good it is and I want someone's opinion. The zoo's name is Vilaqazi Zoo! If someone has a better name idea please provide it! If not it's ok! Have a nice day everyone! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
If there is something I absolutely love about the buffalo grass, is herbivores seem to be attracted to it, I’m not sure (because I use mods) but when I place one of the animals, they rush towards the buffalo grass. I think it’s a cool detail, if it’s modded or not but eh
A tutorial about back stage areas would be cool, I'm interested in making some but I'm not sure how to find the parts ingame. Like how the staff buildings placed have those items but I'm not sure where or how to access them individually
Fantastic. Definitely going to use. By the way I think you meant perimeter in your video. Parameter means a set of rules or limitations, perimeter means the outside border of something. Your English is great, just thought you might want to know
Hey Cesar I’ve always wondered how you know what pieces to use when building stuff. Like every time I wanna build something I don’t what pieces to use😭 (love your builds btw)
Hey, Cesar I'm a bit late to this video, its awesome btw. Do you think you could do a tutorial on how you plan and design the backstage areas of the builds you do, it would be incredibly helpful. 🙂
I recently noticed some of the guests, it might have been teens, complain about 'too much plants' in habitats 😲 Which I thought was so weird to add to a game like planet zoo.
Thank you a lot for this tutorial, from France :) You told about "traversible plants". Can you tell us more about it ? Is there a "list of the non-traversible plants" ? It will help a lot :) Thank you again !
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I do think that zoos need to stop using tree guards for their animals. The vegetation should be there for the animals to engage in their species-typical behaviours like browsing, foraging, scratching or climbing. I think that we should do the same in PZ and create an area ready to grow trees and plants for our animals to destroy in their habitats. Some pioneer zoos already do this :)
No problem!! Sure! Most of my build are inspired by a bit older European city zoos that's why I often use the tree guards but I saw many newer enclosures without them
Any idea to make a habitat like you? I'm bored making square habitat 😅. I still don't get the creativity and the mindset to make that kind of habitat/enclosure🐵.
Yeah, no... it makes me sad but just one habitat detailed to this amount would half my framerate 😭 Do you have any advice for improving performance? aside from turning off guests (I play franchise mode)
Haha I was asked for the tutorial on my foliage work and this is exactly what I do every time. I play this game more for looks than performance 🤓 try disabling the climbing option for all the pieces and trees that do not need to be climbable in your zoo. For some reason the game constantly counts the climbable areas in on your map and it influences the performance. When it comes to plants the buffalo grass alone looks amazing so you don't need to add much more to make it look nice.
Do the animals not have problems when it comes to how much space they have in the habitat? When I use plants they usually can't walk on that area so if you had rocks and grass everywhere how can you make it so he animals still have the space to move/ walk on the plants.
Just as with the plant needs you can also disable the space needs. Some plants are not traversable and are blocking the animals from walking through them and it decreases the space available to animals. You can easily check which ones are traversable and which ones are not using the heat maps
Every biome has different terrain paints (different colors of them). I was creating this in the temperate biome and tropical, savanah etc. look totally different
i guess there will be a lot of burned consoles after thsi tutotrial.. xD as a pure franchise player i can confirm that foliage and terrain paint have absolute minimal impact on animal welfare (4% or something like that) so i personaly ignore it almost everytime...
Hmm it's hard to think for any alternatives for me... I know you guys will get the aquatic, Europe and Twilight packs soon and they include a lot of the plants that I listed!
thank you! can you make a tutorial how to build with different hight elevations in a zoo and different layers? 🙏✨ (in the habitat but also with paths and buildings on higher lower positions than the surrounding)
