I'm just impressed how all the other cars got the F out of the left lane as they were coming up on them. In the USA people stay in the left lane and slow down when they see a car coming up on them.
The same in Sweden, i couldn't believe the mess i saw on highways in the US. Although you can get your license there in a couple of days, so i guess it kind of makes sense. On Autobahn, most people drive with real precision and respect for the road, other cars and the speed, and most accidents are actually made by foreigners, not used to the speed.

The cars speed is awesome but the best thing about this video is how great the other road users are (black BMW x5 not so much) the other road users all kept the outside lane clear so that cars can drive fast while being safe... if only the UK would catch on. The Agera R is 5 sec faster to 300 kph. 0-200 kph the Porsche is actually slightly faster (probably because of the AWD and different transmission). Top Speed of the Agera is around 60-70 kph higher.
@@ludscher4504 It’s faster because of the electric motors instant torque and all wheel drive, but above 146mph the electric motors disconnect and it’s only powered by the 600+ hp V8. The Agera actually gets faster above 120 because downforce and the tires can actually stick without spinning lol.
Thats how you drive on german Autobahn. Dont pass anybody from the left right side, dont cut off people, dont come to close and brake as early as you can if you see someone crossing your lane. People allways think evrybody on the street is like themself. But you have unexperienced drivers, scared drivers and very old drivers. If you close up to someone with highspeeds >200 km/h and they see you closing up so fast, alot of people get unsecure, scared and make fatal mistakes. So dont be a dickhead and drive responsible^^

i drove on the autobahn for the first time in March this year - flat out in my rental corolla - I was stunned that I was amongst the fastest drivers on the road - 90-95% are driving 130-140 km/hr. the highlight was being passed by a giulia quad that must have been going 270 km/hr it just flew by

I really appreciate it how everyone praises us Germans into heaven, yeah I guess we are the best drivers in the world, but there are also many Germans who drive like shit. They don‘t use their mirrors or indicators, my worst experience was when I drove on the A5 at Karlsruhe with around 220 km/h, when an old man just moved over to my lane without any reason, he was around 100-200m in front of me, with ~120km/h, my brakes saved me this day, it was around 3m distance at the end to him. I‘m driving usually over 200 km/h, as long it‘s possible to drive like that, I guess 90% of the people here have never driven faster like 150-160 km/h, so they really can‘t understand the speeds in this video. Going over 240 km/h is even in an Audi A8 really hard. Your hands are sweating like shit and you should never forget that with the double speed, your stopping distance will be multiplied by 4.
That's what I would worry about, someone pulling over in front of me. Most people don't realize it's very difficult to slow down quickly when going that fast.

Ich war immer ein Gegner des Tempolimits auf Autobahnen, aber ich halte eine maximale Obergrenze von 200 mittlerweile doch für sinnvoll. Allein in dem Video oben sehe ich so viele Momente die einfach gefährlich sind. Zudem ist es als Vorrausfahrender schlicht nicht möglich in kurzer Zeit die hohe Geschwindigkeit korrekt abzuschätzen mit der diese Fahrzeuge angefahren kommen, was dann dazu führen könnte dass sie rausziehen. Ich würd den Grünen entgegenkommen mit einer Begrenzung auf 200 bevor die direkt auf 120 runtergehen:D
I drive a lot on German roads and I can tell you that you find the worst Autobahn drivers on the A5 between Walldorf and the Swiss border. So many notorious left-lane drivers that you often find the middle lane empty, the right lane slightly occupied and the left lane overcrowded. People in the North of Germany tend to drive with a lot less ego and a lot more hindsight. Also the Autobahn in Bavaria is more fun to drive than the one in BaWü - best one being the A93 from Dreieck Holledau to Regensburg.
in europe we do not have these problems (left lane drivers), we always keep the right, and if I ever find someone behind me and I am in the left line I have the obligation to pass it, it's called RESPECT TO DRIVING

Fml you clearly have no understanding of what you're talking about, most of what you've said is wrong as well. Firstly the car's official top speed from Porsche is both 211 & 214 mph (they gave two top speed values one on their website and one for the press). Secondly, it isn't and never was electronically limited. Thirdly the car's true top speed of 217 mph is already above the official speed. Fourthly the electric motors decouple from the front wheels at 265 km/h which is 165 mph, therefore any speed greater than that, means the car is solely being powered by the combustion engine. Following on from this point, the 4.6 L NA V8 only has 608 bhp which is nearly half that of the Agera R's V8 (which has 516 bhp more at 1124 bhp). With only 608 bhp the 918 does extremely well against the Agera R (which weighs 200 kg less as well), in terms of top speed. Consequently, it could never reach any greater speeds as it simply doesn't have enough power, because of the electric motors decoupling. Porsche decouples them to prevent overspin.
The Electric motors decouple so they don't get damaged. They can NOT keep up with anything past 165. Everyone saying the "electric motors will make it go past 217" is wrong. Porsche designers said they needed to decouple the electric motors due to the fact they can be damaged. Yes the car is limited to 217 but there is no way the car can get to 240 Mph with only the petrol engine (667 HP) because the hybrid won't help past 165. Also the car weighs 3,690 lbs... so it isn't that light.

Only 650 HP here, as the electric motors have to disconnect above 160mph (maybe a bit faster) so as not to over spin the motors…

The Agera R is 5 sec faster to 300 kph. 0-200 kph the Porsche is actually slightly faster (probably because of the AWD and different transmission). Top Speed of the Agera is around 60-70 kph higher.
@@ludscher4504 It’s faster because of the electric motors instant torque and all wheel drive, but above 146mph the electric motors disconnect and it’s only powered by the 600+ hp V8. The Agera actually gets faster above 120 because downforce and the tires can actually stick without spinning lol.

i drove on the autobahn for the first time in March this year - flat out in my rental corolla - I was stunned that I was amongst the fastest drivers on the road - 90-95% are driving 130-140 km/hr. the highlight was being passed by a giulia quad that must have been going 270 km/hr it just flew by

I really appreciate it how everyone praises us Germans into heaven, yeah I guess we are the best drivers in the world, but there are also many Germans who drive like shit.
They don‘t use their mirrors or indicators, my worst experience was when I drove on the A5 at Karlsruhe with around 220 km/h, when an old man just moved over to my lane without any reason, he was around 100-200m in front of me, with ~120km/h, my brakes saved me this day, it was around 3m distance at the end to him.
I‘m driving usually over 200 km/h, as long it‘s possible to drive like that, I guess 90% of the people here have never driven faster like 150-160 km/h, so they really can‘t understand the speeds in this video.
Going over 240 km/h is even in an Audi A8 really hard.
Your hands are sweating like shit and you should never forget that with the double speed, your stopping distance will be multiplied by 4.

Der folgende Wagen zieht unmittelbar ohne zu blinken auf die linke Spur und bremst mich auch noch extra aus. Ich fahre langsam an ihm vorbei und sehe, wie sein Beifahrer mir eine Systemkamera ins Gesicht hält und mich fotografiert. Na was der wohl vor hatte.

@@Kimonsch Das kann ich auch bestätigen, ich fahre aufgrund meiner Arbeit öfter 300+ mit Versuchsfahrzeugen und es ist einfach immer unangenehm, nach 5min 120% der Konzentration muss man einfach abbrechen. Ich war immer ein Gegner des Tempolimits auf Autobahnen, aber ich halte eine maximale Obergrenze von 200 mittlerweile doch für sinnvoll.
Allein in dem Video oben sehe ich so viele Momente die einfach gefährlich sind. Zudem ist es als Vorrausfahrender schlicht nicht möglich in kurzer Zeit die hohe Geschwindigkeit korrekt abzuschätzen mit der diese Fahrzeuge angefahren kommen, was dann dazu führen könnte dass sie rausziehen.
Ich würd den Grünen entgegenkommen mit einer Begrenzung auf 200 bevor die direkt auf 120 runtergehen:D
I drive a lot on German roads and I can tell you that you find the worst Autobahn drivers on the A5 between Walldorf and the Swiss border. So many notorious left-lane drivers that you often find the middle lane empty, the right lane slightly occupied and the left lane overcrowded. People in the North of Germany tend to drive with a lot less ego and a lot more hindsight. Also the Autobahn in Bavaria is more fun to drive than the one in BaWü - best one being the A93 from Dreieck Holledau to Regensburg.
in europe we do not have these problems (left lane drivers), we always keep the right, and if I ever find someone behind me and I am in the left line I have the obligation to pass it, it's called RESPECT TO DRIVING

Fml you clearly have no understanding of what you're talking about, most of what you've said is wrong as well. Firstly the car's official top speed from Porsche is both 211 & 214 mph (they gave two top speed values one on their website and one for the press). Secondly, it isn't and never was electronically limited. Thirdly the car's true top speed of 217 mph is already above the official speed. Fourthly the electric motors decouple from the front wheels at 265 km/h which is 165 mph, therefore any speed greater than that, means the car is solely being powered by the combustion engine. Following on from this point, the 4.6 L NA V8 only has 608 bhp which is nearly half that of the Agera R's V8 (which has 516 bhp more at 1124 bhp). With only 608 bhp the 918 does extremely well against the Agera R (which weighs 200 kg less as well), in terms of top speed. Consequently, it could never reach any greater speeds as it simply doesn't have enough power, because of the electric motors decoupling. Porsche decouples them to prevent overspin.
The Electric motors decouple so they don't get damaged. They can NOT keep up with anything past 165. Everyone saying the "electric motors will make it go past 217" is wrong. Porsche designers said they needed to decouple the electric motors due to the fact they can be damaged. Yes the car is limited to 217 but there is no way the car can get to 240 Mph with only the petrol engine (667 HP) because the hybrid won't help past 165. Also the car weighs 3,690 lbs... so it isn't that light.

Has anyone tuned a 918? Is it possible to tune it without doing something bad to the hybrid system? Imagine a supercharged 918 with a combined 1200hp.... and it retains it's epic exhaust note.

918 is naturally aspired...difficult to tune, especially without supercharging to get those hp you mentioned

You don't need to tune a 918 and you shouldn't. They are as tuned as the manufacturer wanted and tuning more is begging for problems.
We could do without the out-of-focus ultra-closeup of the side of the tachometer.
