I’m 33 and I was like this less than a year ago. Study, research, and faith have brought me to faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you for what you do Cliffe 😊
That's my favorite preaching spot. I once preached there 7 1/2 hours when I was first getting started ten years ago, to practice and build up stamina and content. Connecticut will always be my favorite place for street preaching though.
I don't understand the logic of the one dude. I have 100% freedom and power to eat whenever I want, but I choose not to do it all the time. That doesn't make me irrational. And actually there are very good reasons for me not constantly eating. All powerful God limiting His power does not make Him irrational. In fact there are good reasons for why He does it.
It's clear by that guy's demeanor that he isn't looking for answers, he's looking for contradictions. He isn't looking for a reason to believe, he is looking for a reason not to believe.
it's the same concept that when you're driving you can absolutely floor it and give the car 100% throttle, but we limit ourselves and the car and only give certain amounts of gas.
richard richardson Heh, yes indeed, quite right I should have qualified my comment, I'm obviously referring to the character of God in the bible. It's also a little more than being inquisitive as I was raised to accept he was real, and, well, if credible evidence comes to light I may well adjust my position. But I'm not expecting that to change anytime soon. Never say never. Even Richard Dawkins doesn't totally rule it out :-)
***** heh, she is a he martin if you're referring to me. Christianity/God and the meaning of life is a subject that is close to my heart, I enjoy these conversations. You wouldn't happen to be martin bell the famous former bbc war correspondent would you?
People witnessed Jesus' miracles and still didn't believe in him. I can only imagine if his disciples told Jesus that in order for them to trust him they would have to weigh out the evidence first. Child-like genuine faith is what is required of us. "Blessed are they which have not seen, yet have believed" [Jesus Christ]
Of course you are correct. But here, Cliffe is talking about evidence for following Jesus vs the myriad of other "options" seemingly available to these students. He is challenging them to think through why they believe that their own enjoyment is what they should live for. Or why Buddha's teachings are worth living for. Etc. He's not saying all you need is evidence or evidence is the only way. He's talking to individual students who need their worldviews to be challenged.
Nice point Cliffe makes about the importance of good decisions in this life to lead to an eternity with God. If we make a bad decision in the morning after just waking up and this ruins the rest of our day, this is the same idea. We are constantly affected by our bad decisions...as well as our good ones.
there isn't a contradiction with the notion that God is both omnipotent and self-limiting. If God limits himself he can un-limit himself again. Either way he is still omnipotent. Power is about potential and ability to do something
Omnipotent but also with a free will. God's free willed choice to limiting power is out of respect for our choices to do what we wish. Its not love if its forceful. He gives us the choice to follow his path or our own
I think people are just confusing words, because by saying limiting the person is thinking this means God CAN'T do something that he other wise logically should be able to do. Maybe I am wording this wrong but my example is I can limit my ability to punch you in the mouth by simply not doing it, but technically I always had the ability to do it if I wanted, I simply choose not too thus you can say I limited myself in that sense even though technically I am not limited by that lol. Kind of confusing sounding but I think when he says the word "limited" people are getting confused on if he is saying God couldn't do such a thing or if that means God is just holding back or choosing not to do a certain thing. Kind of depends what the topic is and what you're talking about. I am limited to jumping only so high, but that is NOT due to my choice I am limited to punching someone in the mouth if choose to limit myself, however that is MY choice in this situation Depends how you use the word honestly On one hand I am limited in one sense but in another sense I am not limited.
Cliffe said it perfect. "The only reason an atheist doesn't find God, is the same reason a criminal doesn't find the police". There is a perfect example of it here...
When someone is manipulating words in order to rationalize their own thinking, they are playing a very dangerous game because it shows that they are completely aware of their situations and chose to stay in it and trying to justify it.
Cliffe does this, in this video. The kid says omnipresent or omniscient and Cliffe knows what he means, but chooses to make it difficult. And this was to a QUESTION the kid asked...not part of a rant. And anytime someone is stuck on the relative/objective loop, Cliffe uses rape, beating children and the Nazis to get them emotional. He knows what they mean, but only 5-10% know to say "and that's fine" or "to me, subjectively, those were wrong" ....he knows what he's doing, he's just a worm.
This guy with the glasses cannot stand still, making me wonder what state he is in. Gonna pray for him as he does seem to be searching but could be blind to God for now.
The student at about 07:35 asks a valid question regarding God's justice system of punishing finite crimes with infinite punishment, I found Cliffe's response a little underwhelming. I cannot think of any crime here on planet earth that any judge in the world would think is punishable by a sentence that would go on ad infinitum. To me, that seem's inhuman. No part of me could ever justify a punishment that literally had no end. When you truly attempt to grasp the immensity of 'infinity' it's impossible for our brains to fully comprehend it I think.
Hi Elijah, I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean would I prefer a death sentence ( in that when someone is dead, it means they no longer exist in any realm) as opposed to going to a place whereby they will be punished for all of eternity after physical death, absolutely yes.
bonnie43uk I think his point is that death penalty is one you cannot undo (unless you were resurrected). Honestly, I think Hell is not forever based on the Bible: (1) Sodom and Gomorrah burned down with eternal fire (Jude 1:7) yet they aren't burning right now; (2) Mal. 4:1 talks about the destruction of evil without leaving neither the root nor the branches. But aren't souls immortal and immaterial? (3) God is the only immortal being there is (1 Tim. 6:16). (4) Jesus taught there would be a resurrection of condemnation (Mat. 5:29). But don't you go to Heaven or Hell when you die? (5) Read Ecl. 9:3-6.
José Fabres Hi Jose, thanks for that, the thing is, the New Testament is full of quotes of everlasting damnation and fire. The vast majority of people living hundreds of years ago were illiterate and poor and had to rely on what a tiny minority told them about the bible, that is no way for an all knowing God to spread his message. If there is some form of punishment waiting for people who disbelieve the bible, shouldn't it be crystal clear what that actual punishment is, whether it be as Jesus said 'everlasting or eternal' or what many pastors say nowadays 'a separation from God' I'd happily take a separation from God, that sounds fine with me, but I'm not too keen on the everlasting punishment, that does not sound good at all.
Yes. My biggest concern right now is why does god punish sinner eternally? Why not let them die and be over with? Or punish them according to their deeds. Why does everyone despite different levels of evil all get ETERNAL punishment? Or maybe not punishment, but at least it us without God. And it is still Infinite. God is reality. What he says goes. So Cliffe is correct. If we could fully understand God he wouldn’t be God. He is so beyond out comprehension yet can relate with us on personal level. He wants a personal relationship with us. That is the ultimate love and fulfillment we as humans will ever experience. True Born again Christian’s are the only people on earth who truly have security in the life after this. “Reality” is where you Belive something or not is irrelevant. The evidence for Christ is so overwhelming, concrete and historical that is undeniable.

People say they want proof, but that is not true. That's just an excuse to trustafir thire dislike for God.
I kind of see it the other way. How can God let Godley people live. Remember, heaven is a better place than the life we are living now.
At 6:15 Cliff accuses people of being out of touch with reality while preaching about an eternal spirit that's living outside of space and time 😳
At 34:10 you thought you did something 😳
God is reality. What he says goes. So Cliffe is correct. If we could fully understand God he wouldn’t be God. He is so beyond out comprehension yet can relate with us on personal level. He wants a personal relationship with us. That is the ultimate love and fulfillment we as humans will ever experience. True Born again Christian’s are the only people on earth who truly have security in the life after this. “Reality” is where you Belive something or not is irrelevant. The evidence for Christ is so overwhelming, concrete and historical that is undeniable.

@@MyBonee What’s the laughing emojis for?
@@PoweredbyJESUS7 you claim god is above our comprehension, but some how you can comprehend his existence? It amazes me how educated adults believe in old fairy tales.
Assertion after assertion after assertion. He sounds like he has created god in his own image. So if you come to a different conclusion than cliffe you are not a thinking person. I never heard these limitations on god like this man says. If you have limits then you are not all. In my opinion, Cliffe is a little so or misunderstood on purpose. Couldn't god create a world where 2+2 =5 or there is a squared circle? Cliffe gets angry at reasonable questions at threatens to go on. Cliffe defines words in a certain way himself. Master of the strawman.
