I like the Rev compared to the Wingman and Sidekick because it is a little bit lighter and 40% cheaper (at least where a live). At some point I might get a Wingman for the city and a Sidekick when camping, because I really like the form-factor of those 3 tools.

I had an opportunity to purchase a REV at HD for $21 & change...great looking finish, nice, solid plier head & cutters...the package tool is really good! I wish that they had added scissors, then it would have been perfect! The knife comes in very sharp! I have other Leathermans, but I wanted one with a pocket clip...& it has no spring assist, which is good...the REV is sometimes treated as an "ugly duckling", but as a starter tool at a decent price, it can't be beat! Thanks for this good review....😊

Scissors -> you can have the Leatherman Wingman :)

@@user-ps5df5qy6uYup! However, the REV cutters are "bypass" which cut better, better plier head & the pliers are not spring -loaded which is good for me....😊

Lost my 17 year old Skeletool, was looking for a replacement and tried the Gerber Suspension-NXT. Was disappointed and went with the Rev. It's an awesome multi-tool for the price. ($50 in 2024).

I'm 40 years old and just bought my first leatherman multitool, the Rev. I absolutley love it. Got it on amazon for $40. You can easliy feel the quality once you hold it. I've had cheap multitools in the past from walmart, cheap no name ones from amazon, gerber. None of them compare in quality to leatherman.

Ive read almost universal bad reviews of this tool after i got one for a gift. Its been great for me. I keep it in my bag so i always have it. Its great for light quick duty and the aize is perfect to throw in a bag. I installed a fan with it a few days ago. I really dont get all the hate for it. Th

I've heard some people have found the knife a lifesaver and similar to you have found it a great EDC tool.

I picked up the Leatherman Bolster from Costco. Very similar to the Rev, but Spring loaded, $39. I like it.

Great light duty multi-tool. I picked up 7 of these at Lowe's a few years ago for $8 apiece. It has been my "desk" tool for years now. I do a lot of little projects at my desk and have used every tool on it to some degree or another. To be fair, I would never have purchased this tool if I hadn't found the closeout sale, but I've been very pleased with it for the use-case I chose for it. Now that the Bolster is out though, I'd go with that for $39 rather than the Rev at $49 simply because the serrated blade is more capable than the package opener - and it will still open packages. Great overview. Thanks for this!

You got a great deal! $8! Good to hear the tool has worked good.

How did you get them for only $8 each when they go for $50 each???? I understand some products are on closeout, but I've never seen a discount price that low.

@@Seawave669 I was just there at the right time I guess. I don't know if it was a mistake in their end or some sort of close out. I just grabbed them while I could. All three Christmas shopping done at once!

My Sidekick cutters are the same, they don't bother me TOO bad, just have squeeze a bit harder.

Glad it's not just me lol! It is a bit of a learning curve using these cutters, but as you said they do work.

I think they may have different pivot sizes for the outside knife. The inside tools might fit. I haven't tried to mod mine yet. Try the multitool forum.org. Some great modds over there.
