Hello thanks for the video im guessing it is what messing up my scooter cause once i unplugged the vacume line that goes to valve it runs fine until gas runs out, watching from Honduras brother 👍
Thanks for watching! You could have a bad fuel pump. The fuel pump on these is operated by vacuum, which might explain why it will run until it runs out of fuel in the carb.
I had a problem where it wouldn't start..that's what it was. The metal piece that attaches to the plug was actually on the plug. Replaced the coil and it fired right up 👍 Then after that the fuel vacuum diaphragm started leaking.. making it run rough on warm starts and a couple of times hard starting. Replaced the vacuum diaphragm and carb..if the diaphragm goes bad again I'm gonna replace it with a on/off petcock.
I just had the same thing it was the petcock letting petrol in the vacuum pipe I put on new clear fuel pipes and saw it running down the pipe to the vac inlet to the engine so look out for that.

I have a rough idle and it’ll die but won’t die if I give it a little gas. Also the lights dim and get brighter when I give gas, and the blinker turned itself off at one point.
It sounds dumb, but I would check your battery. When my battery starts to get low, the blinker wont work and the headlights are super dim. Charge up the batter all the way and see if the issue goes away. If not, there could be something in your charging system that is going bad. What type of scooter do you have?
@@TyposGarage ti checked that and it’s completely charged but I haven’t checked it while turning it on yet. I just found a broken air filter house and some fuel in my AC housing. Oh brother!
Use some brake cleaner or starting fluid and spray over the broken housing. If it surges, that might be your idle issue. That would also pull on the battery. The gas in your ac could be from giving it too much throttle to keep it running.
@@TyposGarage ok I’ll try that thanks! So it’s possible the gas isn’t necessarily some type of leak or broken part on the inside but just from overthrottling?
Yeah. It's definitely possible. You might also need to check your floats in the carburetor. If they are se wrong, the carb could flood the engine. That's basically what happened to my scoot. The float was cracked and had gas in it, making it not "float" anymore. Does your scooter smoke when its struggling to idle?
That's my last thing on my scooter that I got last year but I just going to get a new carburetor and my wiring gets hot and I thinking it can be from my carburetor being all gum up maybe.
great video. question: i have a 50cc scooter. new battery, new spark plug, new filter. when i press ignition button and twist throttle it makes the sound like this at 1:14 but wont start. it will however start if i jump start battery, even though battery is new. i dont think its the battery bc lights, horn, etc all work fine. any ideas? great tutorial and video. /Bklyn👑

I have a GY6 Jonway 150, its only done 200km but did not stat after a period standing, Carbs cleans, new fuel, new plug, Tappets adjusted (0.3 inlet, 0.5 outlet), fuel pump checked, won't tick over but does start much better and little fumes out the exhaust. however, does not feel like much power or revs (nowhere near revvy as in your vid) and won't idle unless the throttle kept open (a large gap between ideal screw and throttle plate. Air mix set to 2 full turns out. - still, struggling to get it to run smoothly and idle - any other suggestions? if does run using the idle but not well and hard to start - any ideas and things to check ?
Your problems seem very similar to mine in this video. You said that you cleaned the carb. Did you clean out ALL of the jets in the carb with a small piece of wire and blow them out? The jets being clogged could cause this. Also, check your floats in the carb. That was my issue. They must have went bad from sitting over winter and filled up with gas. Another thing you can try is to buy a new CDI box. Each one is different and control the timing of the spark. Some restrict the engine. I would also check for vacuum leaks in your vacuum lines and cracks in your fuel lines. Try a few of these things and let me know if any of them work.
Typo's Moto Garage hi yes. I did , actually had a spare carb previous owner provided as he could not start it. I manage to get it running with new spark plug. But it produced tones of fumes and was full throttle and then rever high and died and spied oils out the air box via over flow. I put the original carb back in after cleans ( had some green residue - assume bad fuel) . I have tried adjusting the needle length and tried the clip in all 4 groves - lowest grove lacks power - but all four won’t idle - I have to open the throttle to make it idle ???? Cannot find it. Checked lines and manifold -
Anyone have an idea? I have new carb, new coil, new cdi, new cyliner set and a new spark plug. Really strong spark comes out but the engine wont even cough. The valves are in:0.1mm ex:0.15mm.
wiringdatabaseinfo.blogspot.com/2018/10/50cc-scooter-fuel-line-diagram.html Check out the picture of the carb on this site. I shows you where the vacuum lines connect and where they run to.
My 49cc taotao won't start its getting fuel and spark, it acts like it wants to start when I spray gas in the carb but nothing. I've changed the cdi, carb, fuel filter I'm at a loss
Mine is only starting with a warmed up spark plugs it starts only once and won't idle it will accelerate but it'll still die after some seconds and it's smoking a lot even when I kickstart there's blue smoke coming out
Seems like you are getting too much fuel. Blue smoke is the red flag here. A couple things to check are your float heights in the carb, air to fuel screw, jetting, and air box restrictions. What elevation are you at?
hello, I won't get ahead of myself, and say that I fixed it, but now it starts without the spark plug warmed up and I don't see any excesive smoke, and it idles, but now it will bog down when accelerating sometimes it will only bog at full throttle, and I have to mention that the spark plug comes out oily
Thank for the video. Im new to Scooter, my 2005 QingQi 4 stroke YJ6 scooter looks very similar to yours with the foot rear brake and handle bar. Does your Scooter has a switch on right handle, top , near the "brake" "reservoir", its unlabeled. If so, would you know What is that swtich for? Its not the starter, or kill switch. Thank you
So the spark arcing to the head explains the inconsistent light flash on the cdi... And I have to say that after trying the "red hot coil" on my brand new scooter it failed after 25 miles so I went back to the stock one and it ran fine... ...next was the stock cdi that failed after only 250 miles, replaced it with the blue box (10 bucks) and it ran fine again. Now I'm into the completely useless vacuum emissions system and this scoot has less than 500 miles on it. So when it comes to these cheap scooters with all the spaghetti vacuum lines and cheap plastic components that won't make it around the block without failing (and causing excess emissions instead of eliminating them) I look at it like this... th-cam.com/video/iMX5wi7Vz0Q/w-d-xo.html Hehehe... Keep on scootin :-)
I would check for spark and check all of your wiring to see if something is loose. The ignition coils tend to go bad on these since they are cheap plastic. There is also a chance that the cdi box is bad. You can also test the fueling by using starter fluid. If it fires, you know it is probably a fuel issue.
@@TyposGarage is it ok for me to use the choke more the once a day like 2 times or maybe 3 gotta use the chock in the morning n if I’m working then gotta use the choke ether when I go to lunch or when i leave work
The choke can be used every time you start the bike. Once it's warmed up, it should be shut off. If you can't run the motor without the choke on, you most likely have a few things wrong
I found that my scooter doesn’t seem to be getting any fuel from the tank to the carb, is that because of a vacuum leak? Because I found the leak and when I clamp it down, the bike shuts off
Possibly not enough fuel and it's running super lean? I would take the spark plug out and see what color it is. If it's lean, it would be a white color. It should be a healthy brown color. Your idle might be set very high, also. Test those few things and get back to me

You might need to clean the carburetor or check for vacuum leaks. There are a bunch of videos online that can help you take the carb apart and clean it.
Ok, So First.. I actually Really like your videos very thorough and detailed.. However That is why I'm even bothering to leave this comment, Would you PLEASE speak Louder/Clearer and/or atleast not put your recording device right next to the bikes engine? - I think having your audience listen to the scooters engine for longer then 3 seconds and a MAXIMUM of twice is utterly pointless and just become very annoying. Both Those things are rather frustrating on then own, but when you combine how quiet and mon toned your voice is when how insanely loud the engine sounds with your cam only inches from it, it becomes exponentially more so, like the the point I became very close to just skipping it and going to another one. Hope you understand this is not a insult, it's a compliment saying I care cuz I think your videos are great and would like to see more!
can you help me I have a 50cc scooter it idles rough but it works and I can drive with it but when I open the throttle fast it bogs down and dies. I think its the carburetor but don't know what wrong with it maybe needs a different jet size
Well, I would start with cleaning the carburetor. A small blockage can cause huge power loss. There are some good instructional videos on a thorough cleaning of all your jets and passages. What kind of scooter do you have?
Depending on how many miles it has, the valves might need adjusted. I had some trouble like that before I adjusted them. The exhaust valve was out of spec and wasn't opening enough. The other issue could a bad cdi box or ignition coil/spark plug. Or a dirty air filter.
Typo's Moto Garage it might be the valves that need to get adjusted I tried another cdi and have a new spark plug and it’s not it I think it has to do with the jet size not being correct because it’s was made to run 25 km/h and now it’s running 60 km/h but don’t know which jet I need to replace
And not trying to be a douchebag I think most people scooters don't last long is because they keep buying cheap parts for it because they just want to try to make it run I mean if you're putting Quality Parts in your bike it would be like them more high in vehicle and it will last you much longer I was watching this one video on another TH-camr he was touching this topic he said a lot of scooter heads don't want to spend money on there Scooter and wonder why it's a melon I never been like that I try to spend as much money as I can on my bike nothing but Quality Parts just because I want to bike with no problems like when you get these things everything on it is crappy and cheap I think the only thing that's has quality to it when you get the bike is the gas cover in the body for the bike the body panels and the body frame everything else is garbage.
The way you splain its really good thank you. The problem its the lighting its too dark.
Will definitely try this tonight when I get home. My GY6 150 has been doing this recently. You couldn’t have explained it better.

Although you started with the variator in your post, remember all is relative so a bad running engine can effect many other components and that is a symptom, not the disease so to speak...
Valve adjustment is the crucial thing on a 4 stroke, if you are running a 2 stroke motor the oil is. So a 2 stroke cannot be side saddled by putting iol in the tank and a 4 stroke should have regular valve adjustments (no hydraulic valve lifters on that one)...
2 stroke use synthetic oil and make damn sure the pump is working correctly. 4 Stroke? get a set of feeler gauges and use them anytime you have a problem...

Great video.
Thank you for sharing🙏🙏
Thanks man! I appreciate it.
Try replacing the fuel pump, too. I tried a million different things before I realized that was the problem
I hope you do realize there's NO fuel pump on these scooters!!! ;-)
There's a vacuum operated fuel pump, my guy.
Lol yeah I was responding to crpth1.

That's my last thing on my scooter that I got last year but I just going to get a new carburetor and my wiring gets hot and I thinking it can be from my carburetor being all gum up maybe.
Mine is doing the same thing so I'm gonna order a new carb and I bet it fixes it
Mine cut off and not starting waiting on a new carb n coil set up mines only two months old
4:39 you said unit 😊😂
Will You Walk Me Through Connecting My Harness? Please?
Exquisite thank you
great video.
question: i have a 50cc scooter. new battery, new spark plug, new filter.
when i press ignition button and twist throttle it makes the sound like this at 1:14 but wont start. it will however start if i jump start battery, even though battery is new.
i dont think its the battery bc lights, horn, etc all work fine.
any ideas?
great tutorial and video.
/Bklyn👑
So, if you jumpstart the battery at the starter solenoid, it will start? Does it run fine after that?
@@TyposGarage figured out the problem: spark plug boot was defective.
great channel bro. thanks.

Great to hear! And I appreciate it.
Is there anyway I could be able to send you a video of what my scooter is doing ?. When I turn the key and the dash lights come on when I hit the electric start it the lights in the dash turn off and it makes a weird quiet sound and doesn’t turn over or anything
Is your battery fully charged? Does it click when you try and press the electric start?
@@TyposGarage i have a 150cc of this scooter built into a 200cc and thw back lights turn on and signals but no start nun alil clicking noise like ypu said but that's it
@TyposGarage my scooter is doing this same thing. We have fully charged and even replaced our battery. Any thoughts?
Checked lines and manifold -
Btw the newer carb had no carb pump suction which is why I think it reved up once the fuel ran out
Typo's Moto Garage also not changed the coil or hot lead but it fires and runs so not sure I. We’d to
Typo's Moto Garage and yes petrol cap off
Thank you for the info, really helpful
Nice Video!
Can't you check for spark first ? Bill
Anyone have an idea? I have new carb, new coil, new cdi, new cyliner set and a new spark plug. Really strong spark comes out but the engine wont even cough. The valves are in:0.1mm ex:0.15mm.
The orange coils are garbage. I got one and it didn't last for very long. Maybe 2-3 weeks riding everyday.
can you show me where those vacums and carburetor lines are connected.
wiringdatabaseinfo.blogspot.com/2018/10/50cc-scooter-fuel-line-diagram.html
Check out the picture of the carb on this site. I shows you where the vacuum lines connect and where they run to.
My scooter is like the one on the video, its hard to start, and when it start it doesnt idle and its shutting off,
Can you tell me where the hose on the valve cover connects to
It connects to the vacuum operated fuel pump. The crankcase creates a vacuum that pulls fuel to the carb
@TyposGarage hmm mine is missing but the scooter runs great
I was the same problem with my Vespa 200cc It was the same thing
Informative
A leaky float would cause gas to pour out carb
Not necessarily. I didn't have fuel leaking anywhere, just too much fuel getting to the engine.
His floats had some gas in them. Some gas may trickle into the engine and flood.
My 49cc taotao won't start its getting fuel and spark, it acts like it wants to start when I spray gas in the carb but nothing. I've changed the cdi, carb, fuel filter I'm at a loss
Did you figure it out I also have same problem
@@TyposGarage and my elevation is 558 ft or 170m
Thank for the video. Im new to Scooter, my 2005 QingQi 4 stroke YJ6 scooter looks very similar to yours with the foot rear brake and handle bar. Does your Scooter has a switch on right handle, top , near the "brake" "reservoir", its unlabeled. If so, would you know What is that swtich for? Its not the starter, or kill switch. Thank you
I can't find a picture of the top of the handle bars to see if it is a stock option. Do you happen to have a picture of it?
@@TyposGarage Thanks for inquiring, no worries, i sold the Moped. Best regards
So when it comes to these cheap scooters with all the spaghetti vacuum lines and cheap plastic components that won't make it around the block without failing (and causing excess emissions instead of eliminating them) I look at it like this...
th-cam.com/video/iMX5wi7Vz0Q/w-d-xo.html
Hehehe...
Keep on scootin :-)
Lol...funny clip , that was me the first week of owning my scoot😄
Mine just won’t start at all, sometimes it sounds like it’s close to starting but won’t, tried cleaning the carb completely out still didn’t work
Ignition sum prob that black wire near carburetor gotta switch em once an awhile like spark plugs
The plug cap can be replaced.
I had a 49cc i put big bore kit 100cc amd it would run and ride cold but after warms up then want run
Did you go the premix route on gas:oil? If so, what ratio did you use? I see everything from 32:1 to 70:1 🤷
It’s running too rich
I found that my scooter doesn’t seem to be getting any fuel from the tank to the carb, is that because of a vacuum leak? Because I found the leak and when I clamp it down, the bike shuts off
And when it’s off and I clamp the leak it had even more difficult time idling
That's a good possibility. I would definitely replace that line since the fuel pump relies on that vacuum pressure to draw fuel from the tank.
Make sure gas cap is venting properly

Been trying to get my moped to run it turns over but won't start, has no compression
There's a chance that your valves are too loose. That is a symptom of loose valves. Did you run a compression test? If so, what was the number?
please come fix my Aprilia Mojito 150cc. cant find anybody to work on it
What's wrong with it?
Thank you!
No problem 👍
Bruh my moped start up revs high then die out any suggestions??
Possibly not enough fuel and it's running super lean? I would take the spark plug out and see what color it is. If it's lean, it would be a white color. It should be a healthy brown color. Your idle might be set very high, also. Test those few things and get back to me
My scooter starts goods, however when I try to accelerate it won’t move
Definitely something with the CVT transmission. Possibly a belt

What kind of issue are you having?
bro the cdi for my moped it 100 quid
I have the same problem now, then my carburetor is the issue.
Mine is acting exactly like that
my scooter almost starts but then it dies
I was having just the same things your doing
My moped runs ok when it’s sitting there but when I put throttle to it. It then starts to bog out . Someone help. I’ve got a Chinese kymcho moped 50cc
@@TyposGarage i have already cleaned my carburetor and it still doing the same thing i have a kymco Agility 50
And the spark plug is really black when I checked it
Man i need help I tried lots of things
What’s wrong with it
And not trying to be a douchebag I think most people scooters don't last long is because they keep buying cheap parts
for it because they just want to try to make it run I mean if you're putting Quality Parts in your bike it would be like them more high in vehicle and it will last you much longer I was watching this one video on another TH-camr he was touching this topic he said a lot of scooter heads don't want to spend money on there Scooter and wonder why it's a melon I never been like that I try to spend as much money as I can on my bike nothing but Quality Parts just because I want to bike with no problems like when you get these things everything
on it is crappy and cheap I think the only thing that's has quality to it when you get
the bike is the gas cover in the body for
the bike the body panels and the body frame everything else is garbage.
What happens when your spark plug ISNT wet from gas??
Then I'm guessing you aren't getting enough vacuum to supply fuel or there's not enough fuel.
Please leave out the music
