- Marcus King is a Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter/guitarist who has amassed acclaim in recent years for his earnest, passionate brand of soulful musical expression. He released his latest studio album ' Mood Swings,' produced by Rick Rubin, on April 5, 2024. The album draws its inspiration from some serious subject matter, with King crediting Rubin’s influence as a guiding light as he sought a way to channel some dark themes into a work of art that, he hopes, “will be a refuge and a beacon of hope for others on the brink.”
Matt Sweeney, host of Guitar Moves, is an NYC based producer (Joanna Sternberg “I’ve Got Me”) and composer (Superwolves, Chavez, Red Dead Redemption 2). His guitar playing can be heard on records by Adele, Johnny Cash, Endless Boogie, Neil Diamond, Cat Stevens, The Desert Sessions, Iggy Pop, Tinariwen.

HOLY SHI…. This is amazing. This is one of my favourite guitar players of all time and one of my favourite shows. And Matt sweeneys playing an es330 and they’re talking about Duane and M.T band ?? .. man being a guitar enthusiast in this day and age rules. I love that this show is back. Much love ❤️ also love the bands echo session (I am obsessed with the music, and slow it down to try absorb all the licks+chords)

Love this session for sure. I think the thing to be noted is - kids, let it ring. He doesn't mute out strings and let's it sing and fade off organically. Very technical and precise.

Everybody should play some drums. After playing drums in Rock Band (the game), I was able to start playing piano at almost the same level that my sister was at after eight years of practice. Granted I'd heard her practice her eighth grade recital piece probably a thousand times and Chopin wrote it when he was eight, but I was blown away that I could sit down and learn something like that at all.

This just came up in my feed out of nowhere, and I watched the whole thing. No idea who either of these people are, but that guy can make you feel things with the simplest phrases and licks. Seems cool as shit, too!

Was expecting a cool interview not one of the best guitar lessons I’ve ever had
Marcus is the King of Chill.
I worked a private party/event held by a software company on a little private island back in fall’22. When I got to the site , as I’m walking up to the main building , before the courtyard where the bands are typically set up, I hear this amazing guitar playing and this wild guitar effect going on and off. I play guitar , so my ears perked the F up! I’m thinking “the mix and the playing are too good to be just another local band hire …???” Then , I don’t why, but I thought “is that Marcus King?”. LSS - it was King and his band . They played 2 hrs - kicked ass! His 2nd guitar player is no slouch - just like the rest of the band - amazing musicians! Marcus was a real down to earth guy and super nice guy.
