Marcus King is a true musical treasure. I’m 66 years old, playing guitar for 56 of those years, and it does my heart good to be inspired by someone who could be my grandkid. ☮️☮️
Marcus is the perfect example of a true musician. Not only is he an exceptional player, he can freaking sing beautifully. Also, one of the best live shows I’ve seen in recent times. Great mix of classic and not the generic boring blues that are overdone, he mixes it up into his own sound.
Appreciation comment for Marcus king … this dude is so rad and seems to have so much old soul and seems to be in it for the right reasons .. for the love of REAL music. Love it
Didn't he say that red 345 was his grandfather's guitar? Then you've got his dad, and now he's carrying on the legacy in spades...gotta love that. He's so steeped in the good stuff, the soulful southern rockers, plus this & that from the classic English guys (Clapton, et al), and Hendrix, and he's so respectful & reverent about it--topping it all off, he's absorbed all those influences and manifests it as such a great freakin' player in his own well deserved right! You can't help but appreciate where he's coming from & how his music reflects that. Godspeed Marcus King!
Thanks for sharing Marcus! Hang in there with your Bipolar Disorder, I grew up with a parent that still suffers daily with its highs, lows and demons, it’s not easy !
Rock on! Glad you guys are catching up! Marcus King moves this world like no other! Over the last few years, his music has gotten many of us through some tough shit and will continue to do so. Keep rockin Marcus!
This was super fun to watch/listen to. I definitely have some listening homework 🙂 Marcus King is a monster player and seems like an incredibly kind person to boot. Rock on!
Excellent Marcus, thanks. Hey guitar world.... Take a minute and add time stamps in the details. Many of us come back to these "riff" videos over and over again and use them as practice. 👍
That moment when he was soloing w/Gary and Gary straight up gave Marcus a lil bow...like "respect to you young man". Saturday night special has always just ripped. I always thought it was such a perfect use of guitars.
All of us men deal with depression is some sort of way… especially in 2024… and it’s the 2nd of October… We all need to care for each other and remember that just because you’re not going thru something … it doesn’t mean that some else isn’t.
I had a guitar teacher who gave me Give It Up (Or Turn It Loose) as a time keeping exercise. It was priceless and I still use it today to try to maintain time and feel!
Ronnie Van Zant and a few of the other guys in Skynyrd were heavily influenced by Free (the band). Songs like Saturday Night Special, Cheatin' Woman and On The Hunt its easy to hear the influence. The whole Nuthin' Fancy sounds like they were listening to alot of Free at the time. Great album.
I LOVE the tone of that ES. Beautiful, raw humbuckers, nothing else like it. Is the bridge pickup a '57? Congrats on Mood Swings, Marcus! Old man, new fan.
A dominant 7th chord is both major and minor. So that tension for the Toy Caldwell works against the minor 3rd actually works by washing by merging the harmonic tone of the major 3rd and minor third. The 7 is minor in a dominant 7th. But sounds major due to the minor 3rd. Toy Caldwell and other Southern style players have gravitated to that almost instinctively because they shifted from country to the rock sound to fit the culture of the times.
In the Duane Allman segment the tune 'Don't Want You No More' is attributed to King Curtis. It is actually a Spencer Davis track (see link below), the B-side of the first single, 'Time Seller', the band did after the departure of Stevie and Muff Winwood from the band. They were replaced by singer/guitarist Phil Sawyer and organist/bass pedals Eddie Hardin, who also sang, though not on this track, which is all Sawyer. This is the original recording (the image is the Winwood lineup). When Sawyer quit the band because he didn't like touring, he was replaced by Ray Fenwick (who years later was in Ian Gillan's band). The aforementioned tunes were also included on the band's 'With His New Face On' album, with the original music but new vocals. I believe Fenwick sang 'Don't Want You No More' and Hardin did 'Time Seller'. There is also another version of 'Don't Want...' on TH-cam by a much later version of the band. It is, IMO, horrid. BTW, when Hardin and drummer Pete York quit to form Hardin-York, they were replaced by bassist Dee Murray and drummer Nigel Olson, whose next move was to Elton John. th-cam.com/video/j4bxZukeOuw/w-d-xo.html
@@AlexVonCrank Lack of sleep has been compared to being intoxicated, which as we all know makes people put their guard down. So, yes, in this case, I do. Thanks for asking.
@@AlexVonCrank I see that you’re having trouble connecting the dots. It’s okay. Feel free to move on to a more basic discussion somewhere else, or keep trying here and continuing your journey into becoming a troll. Up to you. ✌🏼
😂😂😂😂@AnkurWow no troubles connecting any dots. I'm fully literate, mate. Surely you looked it up, though... 👍😉 I'm glad I could help. Maybe now you can practice some introspection and think about what you've done.🥴
This fellow personifies coolness 😂 Gives me this real rock’n roll vibe but on the very talented side Oh oh oh 😂 I just checked and this fellow is already a star 😂, I thought he was another talented TH-camr omg 😂
My brother also exceeds over me far over me on the guitar and he has the worst case of manic depressive bipolar disorder that I've ever personally witnessed and it's hard to watch I'm going to send him this video thanks dude
Wonderful player, singer and person. Marcus, don't be depressed you bring joyful music to many people out in the land. Please continue your musical journey and know you are much appreciated as compared to the meaningless junk that is out there😂
I don't think he was saying he was depressed in general - manic depression is an old school term to describe bipolar disorder. I'm pretty sure that's what he might have meant.
So, as soon as he said “it has enough sauce to feed the whole family” the next thing that was said, almost flawlessly “at BK have it your way, YOU RULE!” I hate ads so much, but those moments make it a little more tolerable
hey my name is Marcus Kingstanley! actually its not. but some of my favourite riffs are by Marcus Miller, Mark King and Stanley Clarke thats how i made up my youtube name. it was going to be Marcus King but i had to fit Stanley in!

What a pleasant dude. Love his music. Love his spirit

One thing I love about Marcus' approach to the guitar, is he learns parts that are played by different instruments.
I noticed that too. That helps for songwriting
Alot of trumpet and flute parts often sound good on guitar

Don’t Want You No More/Ain’t My Cross to Bear- that tune blew my mind when I first heard it. Thanks Marcus!
My favorite Allman Brothers son
Allmans are still so good
Stay healthy and happy young man! You are a national treasure!

I first saw this guy on a video from norm’s rare guitars! I’m glad to see him prosper!
In a time where rock seems like a forgotten art form, it nice to see and hear Marcus who not only plays well but sings amazing too.
This is great. I love your style and taste Marcus 🤘 Thanks
Marcus King inspires me.
I have tickets to see him in Sept. So looking forward to it. Awesome musician in my favorite venue, the warner

Don’t want you no more very recently has become one of my favorite songs, want to eventually be able to play it all the way through
Marcus is one of those cats I could talk to all day and not get bored. I think the same about Billy Strings.
Fantastic interview, I didn't know him before, now I'd love to see him live. Cool dude.
MK is the best and he's influencing so many with his deep appreciation. We luv you MK
In case anyone is wondering: The only thing between the guitar and the amp is an Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer.
Seems to be the case with almost every guitarist I really love…guitar into amp…
And? A musicianship level is not determined by the tool you use. He is a great player, even if he uses 14 pedals or none
Graat tones! 🔥🔥👌
@@josearjona3728Relax Francis. He’s just telling people in case they were curious. He didn’t say anything about musicianship level. 🤦♂️

I used to play Saturday Night Special before I went to Pole Vault in 1975! A great motivator! I was undefeated that year! High school yeehaw!
Really enjoyed this man. Im an old rocker always needing some more school - thx for sharing your wisdom, I have new music to check into!
An amazing technician ... I have tix for Sept here...I wish more people knew of Marcus's magic... Having a hard time getting a date ....
Watching this, while wearing my marcus king shirt haha. Come back to Canada buddy boy!! Lots of love and great riffs. 👍🏼
Canadas a big place but if you’re near Toronto he’s playing Massey Hall in September
I love this dude so much
Thanks for sharing! I'm a huge fan of your music. Its great to hear about your influences..
I’m with you Marcus. Mitch Mitchell was an awesome drummer and way under rated.
That sound is amazing. A little reverb and some overdrive.

He's so introspective here, like he didn't sleep the night before, and it's great.
So you think the word introspective means lack of sleep?
