While I don't pretend to be anything but a novice in the country rap genre, I know what I hear, and that is JustTrae is a very talented artist. I particularly loved the switch ups in his flow, for it was smooth in the transitions not forced. Also the beat was amazing. Oh yeah he comes across as very genuine, keeps it real and raps those lyrics from the soul. As for haters don't get me started for they are everywhere these days. I think as an artist in the public eye, the hate gets magnified. All I can say to JustTrae is haters will hate you because they want to be you. Remember "YOU DO YOU". Thank you Irim for enlightening us with your request. ❤ I often find it difficult to convey the right words with these videos because I always feel so much emotion inside. While I've never heard of Macklemore, kudos must go to him for being courageous enough to release a pro-Palestine protest song that brings attention to the cause. Also one that highlights the plight of the Palestinian people suffering in Gaza. The song is very poignant, so I like that he has kept the message blunt and to the point, for it delivers with a lot of impact. I think it was a beautiful tribute of support that the song title referenced "Hinds Hall" in honour of Hind Rajab, a little six year old Palestinian girl killed in Gaza. May Hind rest in peace, for her young life was taken way too soon.🕊 My heart goes out to the Palestinian people for may you all continue to have strength and perseverance, to remain safe and to hold on to your loved one's. Hubby was the same. I never touched drugs myself so wouldn’t know first hand but from my hubby that was on substances let’s just say I’m glad he’s been clean for 10 years now. I’m just glad he pulled himself out when he did cause with 2 kids we were struggling to live. You can do it! Also Aussie here 🙋🏻‍♀️

Such a powerful love song that will forever remain a timeless classic. I think this was an amazing cover by Jimmy and while he paid homage to the original by Percy Sledge and the more known cover by Michael Bolton, I loved that he made it his own. The song captures your heart starting with the hook and the title "When a Man Loves a Woman". Take the melody and add in Jimmy's raw and soulful vocals, it takes the song to a whole other level. For he truly knows how to evoke an emotional response from you. I really appreciated the lyrics for they were well written and very deep. I look at this song as the memory of the embrace of love. One that is about how vulnerable you are when you're in love and how devastated you are when something goes wrong. This is the type of song that reminds you of your own experiences in love and life. Thank you Vakasa for your reaction and breakdown of the lyrics, for this was a good choice and a beautiful song. ❤🎼😊

I didn't know Michael Bolton did this song. The original was first recorded by Percy Sledge in the 60s I believe. Jimmy is brilliant. Have to listen to the Michael Bolton version now. I think Bette Midler did it too didn't she? ❤

This is such an iconic song, but this version is stunning, it was perfectly suited to Jimmy’s rasp and the soul he put into it. You’re totally right about the masculine and feminine energies, how we need both and it’s a lesson to be able to balance them within ourselves. What a great hip hop song Vakasa, including the title which has you written all over it lol 🍎 One thing that stood out to me was how well you chose your flow. There appeared to be a lot of thought as to the message you wished to convey, but I also liked the way you added your own style to make the flow unique. I see it as a watermark on your song. I very much enjoyed the switch up in your rap flow, for it gave the song light and shade, and prevented it from being too repetitive. In this song your flow was quite rhythmic at times, for it would appear some of your lyrics were spoken with a rolling effect. Also I noticed a pause on some of the lyrics followed by you speaking those lyrics in the brackets. It was like an echo coming back or answering itself, reinforcing those lyrics and very creative. I admired how skilful your writing was, for the lyrics were expressive yet deep and coming from your soul. They move you and make you feel something. To me that is a special gift you have, so please don't ever lose it. The lyrics make you think and in this song you had me a little baffled. I was not sure whether the story was specifically about you or a family member's thoughts told through your eyes. If you can please let me know. I see no reason why you can't be successful in the hip hop genre, for in my mind your rapping technique is well advanced. It is hard to believe that someone with so much talent could ever think he was not good enough for another person. Jimmy had a very heartbreaking childhood, and was around violence, unwanted advances as a minor 😢, and was often neglected and hungry. He used to run away from home for hours to leave that world behind him, and until he met Jane, I feel like he never stopped. He has talked about considering ending his life, and getting close at times. Jane has been his saviour, so we should always thank her for having Jimmy with us today. I can see that he thought he may not be good for her, as a diplomats daughter. He felt out of place around a loving family. Knowing that, this song means so much more. #Jimmyismynumber1 ❤❤❤❤

Notice the smaller band and fairly modest sets and lighting, this was soon after his album had taken off and he was finally seeing the success he so deserved!

It was a really wonderful day for me and to finish it with this amazing song by Jimmy and the sound of his band was epic!!! I couldn't be more happy for it's one of my faves. 🌝 The lyrics were poignant and the way Jimmy conveyed the emotion of them with that utter rawness and unconstrained belting, it pierces to the depths of your soul. You could feel his pain and heartbreak, for it was palpable. It gave me chills. To me this song's about the preempting of a relationship to fail before it's started. One person feels they are no good for the other, seeing themselves to ruin any potential love they may share together. He doesn't want to run into that person because it would only bring memories to surface of what could of been. He needs to move on and resolve those feelings by becoming the best person he can be. And that's not an easy thing to do, for it takes time. You have to be kind to yourself and allow time to heal. Also to learn and grow as a person. Thank you so much Vakasa for this reaction. Thanks for this one VK, the live version is better but this is still awesome. This one is a perfect example of how John moved with the times and styles of music and adapted to it. This is almost like early techno and funky but still with soul, emotion and passion with deep and inspiring lyrics. The instrumentation is awesome with so many layers, music you just don’t hear anymore. Thanks again for this and your much appreciated thoughts and I look forward to more to come.
