Since its inception in 1954, the Rookie of the Year Award has celebrated the sport’s brightest rising stars.. The journey is grueling: adapting to new teams, mastering unforgiving tracks, and earning respect in a league dominated by seasoned champions. Some rookies in NASCAR burst onto the scene, delivering unforgettable performances that signal the arrival of a future superstar. While others simply win the award due to a lack of anyone else attempting it. But for all of them, the Rookie of the Year Award represents a significant achievement

Final 4 | 4 Ways To Lose A NASCAR Championship
Denny Hamlin was my favorite driver in 2006 when i started watching nascar. I loved the fedex car. Now in 2024 fedex is gone and my favorite driver has found every way to not win a championship possible. Even if he doesnt hes an all time great.
Could of been another dale but very sad ending
2024 should have been Harrison Burton. At least he had a win.
he was a rookie in 2022?
11:48 Idk how fair it is to criticise his career this much given hes only been driving for a few years. Truex jr sucked BAD for like a decade in the cup series, far worse than Byron imo. Byron could easily still put together a fine career. Edit: same with Briscoe
byron has had a good career so far, hes a top 5 driver in cup rn
Jeff Gordon telling his spotter to get Leicht off the fucking track is highlight of his 2012 season lol
they just be letting anyone into the brickyard 400
Take the Rookies from the last 70 years. Hamlin would likely still have the strongest rookie season. Only Stewart and Newman come remotely close.
i think those are top 3 but hamlin still might be no.1
One little tidbit about Hamlin's 2006 that was left out, that pole at Phoenix in 2005 got him into the Bud Shootout that year, and he held off Tony Stewart and Dale Jr. to win that race, becoming the only rookie in the race's history to win it
i was gonna include that but i wanted to leave out non points events since i never used them for the other 19 ppl
21:52 i still hate and laugh at JHN failing in cup because of this
A little late but another banger video
10:40 granted, that was RCR’s worst ever cup season. Although it doesn’t look that good as Hemric only beat Ryan Preece by only 5 points. Came to show how bad RCR were in 2019.
23:23 damn playoffs fucking up rookie of the year too!!!
i think they should definitely adjust rookie of the year picking now with the playoffs
Just made a new video concerning a forgotten nascar driver would appreciate if you check it out and let me know what you think! th-cam.com/video/LDmKRf-RbPQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Atz0lseu9bJh4zZl
W video! the detail u put into it was amazing. I look forward to seeing which driver u pick for part 2 also peters never winning a ring is insane😭

Rookie of the Year Career Wins - 2005 to 2009: 152 Wins 2010 to 2019: 68 Wins 2020 to Present Day: 5 Wins Results: 225 Career Wins (Averaging 11.25 Wins Per Season).
2010-2015 Cup Rookie of the Years are so dreadful. Thanks Buschwacking!
This feels very Peter Brock F1 and I fw that
w comparison
Leight had a pretty sub-par performance, but he's a really nice guy. Also a great bowler. I bowl at the same center as him, and have seen him throw a couple of perfect games.
his interviews on yt are cool he seems like a down to earth person
Cole Custer above Logano is criminal
fate of the universe on the line martians have the death beam pointed towards earth and you need a rookie between joey logano or cole custer to win a race or they blow up the earth I WANT COLE CUSTER
24:49 "Get his feet wet." He would know a lot about that. (People who follow the memes will get the joke) Also as a Kahne fan, since his was one year off of this list being 21 years ago, where would he rank on this list?
3rd or 4th he was fast but so inconsistent
@ihave40winsyt No wins don't help either. The only reason he's up that high would be because even though he didn't win, he led quite a lot and got so many runner ups that it's not even funny. If he was up there he could win it, if he wasn't up there, he wasn't doing squat, he also had horrible luck, 2004 Dover pisses me off to this day. He nearly won his second start at the final race at The Rock.
Lowkey weird how briscoe got BKR & SHRs last win
You are so smart of reminding that bkr got their final win and shr got there final win and who knows briscoe might get the 19 last win if JGR keeps the number to not rebranding to 18
@@BrianM-wm8vb forgot to mention chase briscoe ran the final race for roush Fenway racing at homestead in 2018 in Xfinity aswell
that is weird i never even realized that
Actually the last SHR win belongs to Riley Hersbt on Phoenix, but Briscoe still could adjudicates have the last victory in Cup.
I cannot tell you how much joy and happiness I had that one Day in 2020 Kentucky I was not expecting Cole to win but even I a Custer fan I have to admit that he really didn't deserve the rookie of the Year that was Tyler Reddick but still was a great moment for me as a fan of him.
"Our lone F1 driver" JJ Yeley?
wasnt a rookie of the year but was an f1 champion
2009 F1 World Champion. The GOAT!
For grins and giggles where would you put rocketman in this list?
2nd with ease i almost wanted to do 24 years to include him lol
Easy second. Without fully researching every season, I’d venture to say Newman has top 5 rookie season of all time. Certainly second best since I started watching in 2001. And third best of the seasons I know of (Stewart).
@@ihave40winsyt ironically he was my favorite as a child, then as I got back in the sport Briscoe became my favorite without knowing both were from Indiana
Eh, id put Kevin Con-man at the bottom
it was a toss up but i think he's barley better
you erroneously have Kevin Conway as having led zero laps, but he led one lap at Indy in 2010
w catch i probably looked at a different years laps led
I would swap 14th and 15th because byron drive for hendrick and placed 23rd and hemric drove for rcr and placed 25th. 2018 was an off year for hendrick but not really that much, 2019 was a bad year for rcr
28:59 “on the flip side” proceeds to show a car almost flipping……I see what you did there
good catch😭
Every member of the 2007 Cup Rookie Class, Montoya, Ragan, Menard, Reutimann & Allmendinger are all Cup Winners
Ragan my goat mention.
@@maley2552 2007 class might be him
I used to live close to where Kevin Conway lives now. Of course I've since moved to Maryland but it's still wild that I lived close to the same city as him
His uncle lives across the street from me .
I agree with #1 ;)
Another highlight of Stephen Leicht's Rookie Season was Him pissing Jeff Gordon off at Indianapolis Speaking of which Please do The History of Gordon's Post 4th Championship Career
Glad you've brought it up because I was about to
31:29 - Damn. Kyle looked young in 2017
@@Matt_8000 😭 i forgot to change the year from jones
@@ihave40winsyt lol
Where’s Byron
Watch the video and find out
I’d still put Leicht above Conway specifically because he got an Xfinity win
Yeah except he's ranking them by their rookie years. If anything outside of that gave bonus points then Logano would be #1 for having three championships. Or maybe second to Kyle Busch because of all his wins in all three series.
Kyle Busch became the most successful one since his 2005 rookie season
correct!
40 min video from 40🤔🤔🤔
i definitely didn't let music play for 10 sec at the end to do that
@@ihave40winsyt Nah that is for dramatic effect don't stress
After Kyle Busch had the season he had, i was expecting a retirement statement 😂
Surprised you didn't mention restrictor plates. But I guess it's because the lower HP in today's cars no longer necessitate the use of them Still worth mentioning imo though
Just made a new video concerning a forgotten nascar driver would appreciate if you check it out and let me know what you think! th-cam.com/video/LDmKRf-RbPQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Atz0lseu9bJh4zZl
Jimmie Johnson 2018-2020 was the Ray Mcqueen in cars 3.
These crash in Pocono hurt him and never be the same after this.
By Far The Most Stupid Move NASCAR Made Was The Xfinity Roval Race This Year With Them Taking To Long To Throw The Caution And Deciding To Throw It Right At The Start/Finish Line Ultimately Revoking Parker Kligerman Of His Only Xfinity Series Win In His Finial Full Time Season
Why mr beast talking
I love this approach to NASCAR more than most 'mainstream' NASCAR youtubers do where they never seem to give an inch of credit and instead fire their anger at the fact the championship is a game of popping the clutch at the right time
Could you imagine almost taking flight in a vehicle like that? That had to bed a surreal feeling. Like wait a second, this feels weird. What the fuck is going on here?
