I disagree on calling a win on fuel mileage to be lucky. That's part of racing, you gotta deal with the cards you're dealt with. Stretching the fuel is a skill in itself, and if you're better than that than the others, it wins you races. See Scott Dixon in Indycar, arguably the best Indycar driver ever. And while maybe not having the speed at every race nowadays, he still manages to pull off fuel strategy wins that nobody else is able to. So, to call wins on fuel strategy lucky. Is, in my opinion, really downplaying the effort needed from both the driver and the team to make that work.
Thank you. By that logic, you would be discrediting Keselowski's fuel mileage wins in his title winning 2012 season. Or Carl Edwards numerous fuel mileage wins in late 2008 to keep himself in title contention
Hate him all you want, Joey is the ultimate master of the modern NASCAR system. Irrelevant 90% of a race but can steal win out under unlikely circumstances through multiple green, white checkered and stretching a stage fuel run out perfectly, he’s one of them not the best drafting racers we have today too. This most certainly has not been his year apart from the three wins, but you cannot hate him for taking advantage of rules and regulations and a broken system that NASCAR knows needs to go away.

Lucky or not, Joey Logano will always have that champion mentality in even years once he makes the playoff. Not to mention that he has more championships than Denny Hamlin.
I am a HUGE Logano fan, and I do agree that while it isn't his greatest season, he still is really good when it comes to fuel mileage races. He's with the best team under the Ford Performance banner, has one of the best crew chiefs in the garage sitting atop his pit box, and Logano himself knows what to do when it comes to these kinds of strategies. While his year has been inconsistent, there are also things around it that have factored into it. First is the new Darkhorse that teams were struggling with early on, second is the fact that there have been many crashes that he's been involved in, none of which helped him advance into the playoffs. My last statement in this comment is that we all need to get over 2015. It's been almost 10 years since he got on everyone's nerves as a driver, and it's so annoying to hear him get booed more than Denny Hamlin or OTHER polarizing drivers.
