Guitar + gear reviews and lessons! Blues, rock, metal.... maybe even some jazz in good quality and informative videos. I'll always be honest in my views. My favourite artists range from Metallica to B.B. King so my taste is pretty diverse!
I'm brutally honest about gear. I'm primarily doing this as a guitar enthusiast and I will never recommend anything I personally haven't bought or would not buy myself. My opinion is my own and unbiased!

Unboxing Shock | Send The Guitar Back?
Unboxing an Epiphone Les Paul Studio LT aka Epiphone Les Paul Studio E1. It has a surprising mod, but is it really un upgrade or is the guitar ruined now? What do you think? It would be cool for some people and a disaster for others...!

AWESOME Budget Amp for Guitar | Joyo DC-15

How to use the guitar amp and run through the amp settings, FX and drum settings. This one of the best budget guitar amps in my opinion. Great beginner amp as well and a contender for best practice amp at home. The Joyo DC 15 seems to be a rebranded version of the Fame DC 15 and Harley Benton HB-15GXD JamBox. Just to underline - this is my opinion as of right now and may change in future! Enjoy...

The Yamaha PAC611VFM Pacifica Electric Guitar has everything you need for stellar tone without compromise. It all starts with the woods: maple for the body and neck and a gorgeous flamed maple laminate top and speedy rosewood for the fingerboard. This combination alone is enough to take the PAC611VFM Pacifica to the top of its class, but Yamaha refused to stop there. A pair of full-force Seymour Duncan pickups in the bridge and neck expands this instrument's tonal palette in ways that make it the perfect go-to instrument for rock, jazz, metal, fusion, and everything in between. Let's not forget the Wilkinson tremolo for handling your most expressive phrases, made even better with Grover locking tuners to keep everything sounding pitch perfect.

Do these have treble bleed circuits?? I just played one in guitar center and the way it cleans up with just the volume knob is incredible. My Les Paul custom doesn't even clean up so nice
The yamaha pacifica is not a budget guitar 😊
Many worry that this type of bridge with the typical 'lightning bolt' staggered saddle arrangement built-in doesn't provide good intonation. On my several Gib/Epi guitars with one-piece bridges this has been no problem with normally graduated string sets in the range of 9-10 high E to 42-46 low E, with the grub screws for scale length adjustment giving some extra range up or down on either/both sides as needed, say for 8s as our host likes. If you need more precise settings for certain strings there's a variety of aftermarket bridges made for popular guitar types with individual saddle adjustment. But don't be scared of these combined one-piece type bridge/tailpiece units. They work well and some argue there are tonal and sustain benefits- this will be a subjective thing you have to judge for yourself. But I like the idea of simple hardware with few or no moving parts. On this Paul's Guitar by PRS there are other things I'd be more critical of but again, judge for yourself and overall these are very nice guitars.
Well said. I was sceptical myself at first, but it works brilliantly on this PRS. 👍
@appetiteforguitar Thank you for the personal reply! That green flame top on your PRS is wicked good looking btw. Cheers.
Ow
Imo, I'd send it back if I feel wrong about the product that's shipped to me. I once ordered a guitar that's almost perfect bar from a small chip in the nut slot area. Sent it back the same hour I found the chip. The guard slots look like intentional.
That hurts
If someone doesn't know it already, another way to stabilize a screwed in tremono arm is teflon tape (normally used for plumbing).
Looking to use it for my mic..bought a convertor..would love to have a demo on what all knows are used for😊
Amazing!🎉 Please, tell me, where you buy such fine grit sandpaper?🤔
I got mine on Amazon. Lots of guitar shops should sell them too. Thanks for watching!
Thank you, for your answer🎉👏👍@@appetiteforguitar
you got ripped off lmao. wilkinson tuners are like 1/4th the price of grovers. and why are they all scratched? dont get me wrong, they're great quality tuners, you're definetly paying for the name on the Grovers but I'd still be pretty annoyed if I didn't get a discount because I could've just sold those grovers or put them on another guitar and bought the wilkinsons for like 20 dollars on amazon.
I'm pretty happy. They're great tuners. They're not scratched as far as I know. They might have the plastic covers still on. I would need to check. Overall awesome guitar.
Don't do meth
Wouldn't use lemon oil. That will degrade CS glue over time. Get the conditioner Guitar One i believe it is. No acidic ingredients. All oil.
I'd keep it and put the pickguard on. It would look sick with the black pickguard and black knobs and pickup rings. Plus, you said it yourself that it plays great, which is what counts. Keep it!
A trick some movers taught me years ago: take a fine point sharpie, or you can even go to the hardware store and find a color that more closely matches the guitar, and just color in that bare wood area. Those drill holes will "vanish."
I must say that the finish looks a bit nicer on the Epi (at least that's what my eyes tell my brain)
I've heard they're great but never having played one, I fear it would feel very foreign to me.
I can definitely confirm these are great. For the price, as a new guitar, I'm struggling to think of anything that feels or sounds as good. I've got a full review incoming and dive deep into all the measurements, tones and I'll go inside to look at the electrics and control cavity. It should be fun! Btw my other main player right now is a PRS SE Paul's guitar. They both have slightly thicker necks than average. Both are very nice and comfy.
A little tweak here & there & you're good to go.
Love it !

I tried to send a Epiphone back to musicians friend that had a crack in the neck they wanted me to pay for shipping. Luckily I bought it with rewards so it was free. I told them I’ll get more mileage out of making a video on it. Since then have had two more Epis that renewed my faith in them. One of them I just gave away to a Patreon the other I won. Beautiful guitar you got there though
Thick wires tiny pots
Hey, man! Cheers from the Philippines! Yours looks like a very early if not a first production bluesbreaker model. You'll see RJ likes the abalone inlays put into their premium (top of the line) guitars. Another iteration was with MOP inlays and chrome hardware which were cheaper. The first production models should have a maple/ mahogany body and thick neck. These guitars quickly went out of production for a few years and came back with toned down specs. You've got a guitar modeled on a gibson 50s right there. Big congratulations! Even in the Philippines, it is difficult to find an RJ les paul from this period.
Oh wow. I believe RJ guitars aren't really sold here in the UK. I think possibly they can be sent over, maybe! I don't think many people have heard of them here right now. I was v.lucky to happen across it. I really enjoy covering the unusual or undiscovered stuff. My mind was blown when I started playing this RJ. The playability and feel sits right next to my Gibson. It feels like a very luxurious instrument if that makes sense! Definitely a keeper. It must have cost quite a lot to make at this level of quality. I'm not surprised they had to cut back the specs as time went on. I plan to do a one year update video, so more incoming! And if I can my hands on more RJ guitars I will for sure. Thanks for watching!
@appetiteforguitar looking forward to your RJ video. RJ now makes copies of a few different brands. They have a PRS copy, a Mccarty trem model which everyone likes as a mccarty trem is very expensive and no SE model available. Strats and teles are made with roasted maple and SS frets. I've been intrigued and tested some out, only the mccarty copy has made an impression. As for their LPs, neck is thinner, you can feel that right away. They're lighter and the fretboard is jatoba. Doesn't make sense owning more when you got the O.G, imo. Thanks for your time! Your guitar has brought back memories from when I started learning at 18. I got mine cheap, about less than $100. Sold it after a few months, sadly, because I wanted to own an Ibanez RG 😅.
Ah that's really cool! Glad you enjoyed the video. I don't think I'll ever sell this one. The Gibson I own is relatively cheap compared to the Custom this is based on which is big big money these days. The only thing I might upgade is the pickups. If I happen upon some decently priced Gibson Burstbuckers, they're going in! The Ibanez is awesome btw for sure. I've got an Ibanez RG421PB. That's usually the one I play for learning new riffs on as it's very easy to play. I don't have a PRS copy by RJ yet. I do have one by Stagg based on the Santana which I'm working on which came with a broken nut. I do have the PRS SE Paul's guitar which is just great, but no tremolo so.. I had to get the Stagg 😅! Yes, my GAS is pretty bad, but I run this channel which gives me an excuse to keep getting new guitars lol... my wife hasn't divorced me yet! Keep rockin'
@@appetiteforguitar The wife obviously love LPs too 😂 I'll stay tuned for any future videos. Paul's guitar is one of the best in the budget category. Sadly, no trem. Their trem works and gives more "expression". The guitars you have are not bad, although in the budget category. I myself have reduced my guitars today to only 1 (possibly 2 after christmas). I sold off my ibanez RG550, SE silversky, and epiphone prophecy LP. I had my hands on an Edwards Horizon, and I am using this one exclusively. Getting another one for backup in case I decide to play on stage again. I look forward to the day when Gibson is sending you stuff to review 🙏. Every small effort adds up in the long run! Good luck! 😊
The Edwards is a really nice guitar. If it's the one I'm thinking of, definitely in the expensive category. Very nice. I'd like to get more higher end guitars on the channel. I'm confident that will come. The channel is already growing beyond my expectations and I am so grateful. I have seen the most stunning LP Standard locally for about £1,800 / 133,000PHP. As the channel keeps expanding I will hopefully get more access to those without needing to spend big money everytime. My 'cheap' Gibson is still worth a lot vs any 'normal' guitar... I might eventually trade it to go up to the Standard... but I love my guitar. I think that's a problem lol, I love buying them and setting them up to play awesome. Selling them, eurgh, that's hard! ESP also do Grassroots... which I think are made in Japan, or at least sold in Japan. They're interesting guitars as they don't seem to be subject to the same 'lawsuit' issues of other Gibson style guitars i.e. they have the typical Gibbo headstock design. I can promise lots more guitars and guitar related stuff incoming that's for sure. 😅
-no one's gonna know -they're gonna know
Shameful
It’s only an Epipig at best
Nice guitar, I prefer no binding, with no pickguard. Binding with a pickguard looks better. If you got a deal, I'd put the pickguard on and keep it. It doesn't look bad, with the pickguard. Playability and tone are what's important
Definitely. The deal was decent for a nearly new guitar. I don't think it will hurt resale value too much, hopefully at all, if I eventually part ways with it. For now it's a keeper. It plays really well. Full review incoming!
This is so visually discomforting that all comfort gained from the contouring is lost
I have to be honest, I liked the sound of the Yamaha better and not just because own one. It sounded like you compared their sounds based on one of the 5 selector positions so kinda of a short comparison. Anyway for what you pay for the Fender it should sound better.
Strange as I have eyed thru lot of pictures and none got that pickguard and of cource no holes. Yours seems to be a bit more standing closer to the Studio. A top notch looking top and fretboard so no I would not send it back. I would put that pickguard in place even as i do not think that it goes that well with them uncovered pups but in another hand one might toss covered ones in and will look the same as the Studio.
Thanks, yes, I think I'm going to keep the pickguard on. I'll put it on during the upcoming review to see. Loving the zebra coils. Thanks for watching! More incoming.
Personally wouldnt be bothered
My guitar store has one…$757.35. If I watch this again, it might be mine 😁
Thanks for watching! It's great - a really smooth guitar to play. If you go for it I'm sure you'll have a lot of hours of enjoyment. Keep rockin'
I had purple one L loved that guitar but due to my bad back problems I had to sell it but it was lovely sounding guitar and I miss it
Ah that's a shame, but luckily there are a lot of good light guitars out there. This guitar is nice but it is a bit heavy to stand up for a long time with like most les paul types. I just bought myself an Epiphone Les Paul Studio LT (aka Studio E1) though. It's much lighter. I've just posted a quick unboxing of it if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/zYU07GnlOC4/w-d-xo.html
Great review. Beautiful playing and thank you for not overplaying and showing off. Huge turnoff for me.
Much appreciated, glad you enjoyed it!
Nice guitar. The vendor may have removed the pickguard to protect the guitar in shipping. Actual photos would of the product would have been appropriate. I bought a 2008 LP Studio on Reverb & was lucky to get a good one. Bought a new Gibson LP Standard at a brick & mortar store & missed seeing a paint fault & later found the bridge had unstable saddles. I no longer buy guitars online. Seems the total cost of a guitar includes making it right & bringing it to your own personal taste.
Yeah, it was good they did that at least. And yes, there's a time factor at minimum involved usually in getting a guitar how you want it usually. I suppose it's something I'm used to at this point. Pretty much every guitar I've ever had has needed something doing to it. On this occasion, I would have preferred if they'd mentioned someone had drilled holes in it after market. But it actually looks good having thought about it. I think I'll leave it on when I'm done setting it up. Full review incoming!
@@appetiteforguitar I like the comment that said to put screws in the holes. I may go to the trouble to find the right hardware & try that.
If I didn't want the guard on, I'd either just put the screws back in the holes, or use a furniture repair marker to color the hole so that it's not as obvious. I took the guard off of my Sheraton, and I really don't even notice the hole, TBH.
Good ideas. Even though this guitar doesn't come stock with a pickguard, it actually looks like it belongs there. It's not great that somewhere along the line after market, some holes were drilled in it and it wasn't my choice, but they did a decent enough job. Once I've finished setting it up I'll likely leave it on. Keep rockin'
Not a fan of pickguards, but that looks pretty good on there.
I think you're right!
It's a chibson.
Here is a Chibson.. and a bad one at that: th-cam.com/video/u0RRiWQHLn0/w-d-xo.html
It’s just buckle wear.
Did this to my leo scala flying v, great mod 👍
It depends on how much it affects the tone and sustain. I would never do this to any guitar so I wouldn’t know.
It affects the tone as much as it affects the hair in my nose grow. It just doesn't.
I’d just put the screws back in with or without the pick guard. I’m more concerned with the fretboard wood because I was thinking of getting a similar model and I absolutely don’t like the lighter colored fretboards. ( poplar composite and grenadillo) so I’m kind of stuck as far as that goes. Even the more expensive Epiphone Les Paul studio uses Pau Ferro which is just as bad aesthetically. Looks matter on a Les Paul!
Ah true, I think the wood is very dry on this one. Once I've put lemon oil and hydrated it, I expect it to darken quite a lot. Full review incoming and we should be able to see then.
@ looking forward to it. 🎼
I would say dye the wood, if it's the only thing stopping you, it's just like hydrating a fretboard
@@somethingsomething5582 I think that’s a good idea. ✌️
@@somethingsomething5582 This makes me wonder why Epiphone doesn’t dye the fretboards on their less expensive guitars. Sales would go through the roof if they did. I don’t think I’ve seen one person on TH-cam who actually likes the lighter colored wood. They could easily put a thin strip of real rosewood or ebony on the fretboard. I don’t understand Epiphone’s reasoning.
This hurt my heart so much!!!
What do you think is bad enough to send a guitar back? Let us know in the comments!
Missing hardware kit, scratches on the paint, several cracks on the neck, and that was one guitar. That's why I've never bought from ProAudioStar since. Same guitar from Sweetwater, had to send it back because of a frozen truss rod, cracked switch tip and a loose tone knob. Third time was the charm, thankfully.
Ouch, glad it worked out in the end!
Nice little brother to your Gibson, I love that brown finish, looks good with the black scratch plate, congrats on the new LP!
Thanks, it's really nice despite/because of the unexpected mod. Review incoming!
It gives it character😂
Bought this from Amazon last year and I absolutely love it! I use it regularly!
I like the no pick guard 🙏
Older Epiphone, so it really doesn’t matter. Not a valuable guitar, so ya might as well make it more comfortable to play.
