I appreciate the tips. I use water, aloe vera juice and vegetable glycerine. As a loose natural it was the only thing that helped my scalp. Now that I have braidlocs I'm needing to use it as a scalp refresher. Your hair color is gorgeous!

Your hair looks sooo good & I love your color! 😍🥰😍🥰 I also have braid locs, I'm 5 months in. I originally wanted micro braid locs, but due to having Fibromyalgia & the lack of locticians close in my area, I chose to having a little over 100 locs instead. I can maintain them on my own by interlocking them when I'm not having an extremely bad flare.

I really should've used a mirror for my first Retie! But I was too lazy. I paid for my laziness! 😆😫

I did my first wash without braiding and banding thinking that slippage was only an issue for those locking with two strand twists. Boy was I wrong!

I did my first Retie and felt like I was accidentally joining every other loc. 😡

I agree with you about seeing your curl pattern better when you’re loc’d. I was so surprised to see all of the locs in the back of my head fall into individual curls. They are locking now after 4.5 months but many ends are still curly. I found that the hair that slips out from the locs on top of my head were a first big indicator how straight my hair is there. I enjoyed your video. I have broken a couple of those rules too. I washed my hair the second week. I hennaed it the 4th week and my locs are fine. I washed with a shampoo conditioner cleaners and I could feel the coating the conditioner left on my locs for a week when I finally washed it out. I did experience a lot of slippage that week too; so, no more conditioner for me until my locs are more mature. I can wait. New subbie here.

I just watched three of your videos and you have really help convince me in starting braidlocs. I completely felt and understood what you meant about some of the women’s attitudes on their videos when they are calling other loc methods step-sister locs. I also know exactly what you mean about doing too much research. I will continue to watch your videos on my loc journey. Very easy to understand and relate to.

How come you deep condition your locs, doesn't that give buildup? Did you begin deep conditioning months after your hair had loced? Did you start 5 months after locing?

Your hair looks beautiful. I started with braid locs as that’s the best option for me right now. I wash my hair too often and am too active for any other option than braid locs or instant locs. I had instant locs prior and cut them after 1 year. This time around, I am more conscious about the journey and am looking forward to experiencing the different stages and watching my hair loc and mature. Great to see other videos for inspiration and information. Also love seeing your fur babies 😍.

I started my 2nd set of locs (17 years after my first set), I started out with braids. I didn’t put in microlocs and have around 5 braids (my hair started thinning some years back). I want to keep maintenance manageable and like the look of thicker locs. My hair is long and I’m very excited for the journey but very curious to see how it will go starting out with braids considering my finer hair texture and the “thicker” braids (about pencil thick).

My hair be locking up on its own anyway when I do regular two strand twist styles. Idk it seems to lock up so fast. I plan to get microlocs...this 4C stuff seems to love locking lbvs.

You could comb the ends, another youtuber uses a dental brush/pick to separate the ends to allow the curl to remain.

The price was the main reason why I backed out. I was thinking of all the things I could buy 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣. I end up getting Nappylocs (similiar).

I live in Jamaica, and honestly I never met anyone that followed "rules". I only knew there were "rules" when I started researching braidlocs. I just do whatever, let my hair do what it wants, I've tortured it enough with braids, relaxer etc...so freedom. Where did all these rules come from? Locs to me are all about freedom in being you.

I went two months before I made them smaller, but I love braid locs. I am used to long braids so took awhile to get comfortable in my own skin. I love when it curls at the ends though. Your hair is beautiful.
