I have braidlocs (almost 2 years in) I did not braid and band either and did not experience slippage. I believe it just depends on your hair texture and which locking technique you decide which can play a role in whether or not you need to braid & band. Your locs are beautiful!
Thank you! And I definitely agree! My hair around the edges and in the back have a looser texture and that’s the only place where I experience slippage. But it’s definitely all trial and error when you DIY.
Your hair looks sooo good & I love your color! 😍🥰😍🥰 I also have braid locs, I'm 5 months in. I originally wanted micro braid locs, but due to having Fibromyalgia & the lack of locticians close in my area, I chose to having a little over 100 locs instead. I can maintain them on my own by interlocking them when I'm not having an extremely bad flare.
Hey! Congrats on your journey! I wash my hair every two weeks with Neutrogena T-Fal and a cowash (not picky on the brand). And once a month I use a deep conditioner. (Loctitians advise against this in your first year, but my scalp is dry so I accept the risks.)
Yes I do! But that is completely dependent on your hair texture and how big or small they are! Once my hair has grown out a bit more, I plan to take the braid part down and interlock it fully. Within the next two years.

I saw another youtuber use a stocking cap to wash her locs..Maybe that's an option
I really love your color on your locs 😍
A stocking cap? Do you know the channel name? I’m curious now. Lol

Welcome to the fam!!
try apple cider vinegar for itchy scalp.
