Fantastic video. I missed these games as a kid, I was only 4 when this game came out and didn’t really get into hockey until later. It makes me really sad and nostalgic for something I never got to enjoy as a kid, but I LOVE playing this game now through rom hacks with updated rosters ❤

I actually liked xmen 1 over this one Played it for 5 minutes..hated the cold open, hated how zoomed in it was..imo any of those snes/gen games that were zoomed in were annoying and cheap, i might have to give it another shot sometime

Was good, so was 97 on pc and then 2000 on Snes ? I think ? It may have been ps1 which would have pushed it up to 2001.
Nah last 16-bit release was ‘98. Although ‘97 was the first 32-bit (3d) release. I owned ‘99 for the PC and had a blast with that

It really isnt. The sloppy level design of most Genesis games was evident plus the terrible synth that dominated all Genesis games is headache inducing.
Sloppy level design? Yea idk, man. This game is universally well received. I mean if you’re comparing this game to Super Metroid, yea sure, but the level design is pretty solid imo
Loved Clone Wars. Its such a hard game until you know the levels just like you said. Mutant Apocalypse though for some reason felt so bad ass though! Each mutant having their own starting stage and their music?! Psylocke, Cyclops and Wolverine stages were *chefs kiss*. Love these X-Men games!

This was one of thee best. I still remember being slightly disappointed that the case was the new card back instead of the durable plastic, but as soon as the Sega was turned on you just drop in.😮😮😮😮😮 I was blown away.
Yea I remember being upset that the case wasn’t the clamshell cause the artwork was so awesome. But yes, the game made up for it lol

Yup, he was unlocked after the 3rd level after you beat him. The first level where you were able to play with him was the climb of apocalypse fortress where tusk is throwing the boulders at you. Ironically, he’s like the worst character to play as with that level lol
Did you really recommend Magneto to fight Apocalypse? That will take an hour! Beating Apocalypse is easy AF with Wolverine
Haha yea it does take a long time but it’s still a cake walk. For someone who isn’t really good at the game, magneto is probably the best choice, in my opinion. Obviously someone powerful like wolverine or beast would be the best choice, as they are with most bosses, if you’re solid at this game

I remember playing the first one at my rich cousin's house. I would eventually try to beat it but it was a hard game. I tried every time I went over but it was too hard for both of us.

This is an amazing video for such an amazing game. It's a shame that you can't play the music. It would have been cool to hear it again and show the different tunes for different characters. TH-cam is such a limited platform these days. I would love to see you do this again on another platform like Nebulla or Patreon so you can do the Director's Cut! Keep up the great work!

So many questions. Amazing box artwork? Cardboard case? In the UK all we had was repulsive checkerbox case artwork for the Megadrive and fortunately only plastic cases. Snes cardboard cases were garbage. Never seen a cardboard genesis/ megadrive case before
Yea, towards the end of consoles lifecycle in NA, a lot of games were released in the cardboard boxes to cut costs. A lot of 1995 releases were in this type of cardboard box like Ristar, Frogger, The Adventures of Batman and Robin, World Series Baseball ‘95, this game, etc. Some games, of course, still had the clamshell. But I agree, they suck lol

Of course the game is hard lol, I’ve mentioned it several times that the game is hard in the video. I also mentioned that I’ve been playing this my whole life and that it’s a hard game to master at the 6:30 mark. I said once you become aware of what mutant is best for each stage, the difficulty drops and becomes more playable

Haha you’re talking about the first x-men game, right? It’s actually part of the game. It glitches and then asks for a code, looks like the matrix screen, etc. You’re then supposed to hit the restart button really quickly on the genesis to progress. If you hold the reset button for too long, the game will actually reset so you’re just supposed to correctly tap it to progress through the game. It’s a completely ridiculous gimmick
