I have 300 watt fixed solar panels, plus 2 x 110 AJM batteries. i've been full time near 2 years and this set up has worked great for me. I am a low power user and still use gas in my van. great blog

    Great Video.
Portable solar for me as I travel in warmer areas. Doing so, I hunt shaded areas, and having it mounted on the roof wouldn't work for me. I still run 120ahr AGM and have no issues with power. I really only charge my phone and a tablet, run a fridge and LED lights in the evening.

Thanks Tony 😎. Great combo, love hearing about everyone’s different setups. It really is horses for courses when it comes to solar setup and batteries 🤙

We went for Solar on the roof and we've not been in the van long, just a few days actually, but already with the british weather I've been conciously cleaning it every couple-a-days so yet something else to think about haha!
Great chat, really enjoyed the video guys!!

There’s always something new to add to the list of things to do 😂. If you’re like me, checking the percentages of solar in and electric out is a new thing to check 🤣
Thanks mate, really appreciate the feedback 😎🤙

We have 350watt renogy solar 2000w renogy inverter. Only 2 x 100ah AGM batteries. A dolce gusto coffee machine. A maxxair fan. My partner uses her hair dryer straighteners etc and everything has kept up without using hook up. Obviously if a wet day we can manage for 24 hours without issues. We do have a dc dc charger also whilst driving.

Sounds like a great setup Charlie. In an ideal world I’d love both fixed and portable solar… oh the dream 😍.
Love the addition of the coffee machine. Coffee is a must in the morning.
      Have a great Friday and weekend… 🤙🏽😎

@@TristandKez thank you. It’s taken a year to build the van and very pleased. I’d like to have a portable power supply too in the future for back up. Love the channel and look forward to seeing your future videos

Awesome are you on instagram, it would be great to see you van conversion. Yeah I think the best balance is portable and fixed 😎. Thanks for the love, new video out this Sunday. Have a great Friday evening 🤙🏽😎

Thanks guys, loving your Allpowers setup. Portable is prime for where we’re parked partly in the shade 🤣 at the moment.

Downside is, those power stations are hideously expensive. Some of those Ecoflow units are over 2 grand with the panels! That buys a 200aH lithium battery and a good sized panel for the roof and a Renogy charge controller (because, we're not all Victron sheep...) and leaves a grand left over for hookers and blow...

Thanks guys and we have a solar panel on the roof of the motorhome and a power station without portable solar panels at the moment. We have a split charger on the motorhome and the small van. We are really power shy and never struggle with it. Of course we get free power at the moment which is great . We have ordered a new van to replace the motorhome because at 7.4 metres it is just too big to be stealth! . It will have a fixed solar panel larger than the one we have so will be interesting to see how it differs. Cheers Dave

Thanks for sharing your setup. In an ideal world we’d have both 🤣, that way we’d be charging all the time 🤗.
Exciting news on getting a new van. You converting one? Happy bank holiday Monday guys 🤙🏽😎

Loads of great information. Silly question - can the portable chargers be put in the window as you're driving and charge through the window? No clue if that even works. Love your trousers, by the way, really lovely pattern and colours.

    • @TristandKez
      @TristandKez  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hey Lottie, you can charge through your windows but the efficiency is reduced. Great idea though. We’ve left panels in the windscreen when we’ve gone for walks. Any solar is better than no solar 🤗.
Kez says thank you, she loves the too 😍. Have a great bank holiday Monday 😎🤙🏽

I think the only change i would make to my set up would be, I'd put the 3 solar panels I have on a hinge, so when parked up the panels can face the direction necessary. I've got 360 watts of solar via Victron MPPT into 360 ah leisure AGM batteries and Victron DC/DC charger when driving, I've also got hook up if required via Victron charger which will charge the leisure batteries if required. So far in the last year, we've never been on hook up and it's running a fridge, lights, Truma boiler for hot water and heating and all the extra USB ports i put in.
My advise to anyone would be, certainly research everything and please don't buy cheap tat because you are living in that van for some time.
Anyway Trist and Kez, subscribed and liked, best wishes to you both.

Hey Cliff, thanks for dropping us a comment. That a sounds like a pretty sweet setup. Especially if you’re not needing hookup 😎 at any point. Love the idea of putting the panels on a hinge to get that bit more solar.
Totally agree it’s all about doing your research and seeing what setup works for you. Have a great rest of the week and an awesome weekend 🤙🏽
