The issue with the bathroom scene in Seeing Red is that Spike isn't pure evil. He's done selfless things despite having no soul, Tara says herself that Spike has done good. The writers didn't seem to know what they were doing with him tbh. They can't suddenly be like "hey, remember Spike is pure evil!" when theyfe given us evidence to the contrary.

The only thing I'd say I didnt like about The Body (at the time I watched it) was the vampire fight at the end. At the time, it felt a bit shoehorned in, like someone said 'well, it's called buffy the vampire slayer, she has to slay a vampire'. It's been about ten years since then (I got into buffy long past its original airing) and I do feel differently about it now. It still feels wrong and like it doesn't belong, but I can see that's on purpose. Losing someone like that can feel like time has stopped, but it hasn't - Buffy doesnt stop being the slayer because Joyce died, and vampires aren't going to take a week off for that reason either.

WTF is wrong with the audio? It was so quiet that I had trouble hearing with headphones on. This is just unacceptable.

I dont think Lawson was empty as a vampire because he was partially ensouled but because a vampire is a dark reflection of a human and Lawson as a human was defined by duty aka. conscience and function of the soul. He couldnt derive satisfaction without a soul. The dog being decpitated isn't the best scene in Smile Time it's puppet Angel vamping out. I actually own a puppet Spike my daughter took into school at Halloween once.

As somebody who lost their mother to cancer (quite suddenly too, she was doing ok, got an infection and was gone within a week) the episode where Joyce dies and they deal is just so fucking real. I can't watch it without crying.

I think Angel also destroys the Gem of Amarra because he just knows that while he has it all the other vampires will be angling to get it off him including very dangerous ones like Marcus and Spike.

This is definitely when the show got stupid.. angel was definitely the better show..

As for Dawn, she is exactly how a teenager acts. They never like to be called a kid, but as soon as something bad happens or they are out of their depth the first thing that comes out of their mouths is "Hey, I'm just a kid." So she is not the most annoying character of the show for doing this by any means.

Willows descent into addiction is 100% how fast it happens. We've had so much build up with her going too far, and being too eager, even when she first started. So with all of the emotional stress she was under, all a person needs is the release and the permission to let go and a full out of character slide into degeneracy is going to happen. Especially with an addictive personality, as a reformed alcoholic and drug user, I did things I never thought I would and the build up was slow, but once that spark was lit it was a fast an very noticeable change. So for me I can relate to her struggle and it was exactly how I experienced the world of addiction.

Andrew comes out as gay in the best comic season 10 and Xander's lying finally is actually called out when he decides he knows best at the end of the 9th season yet again and it bites him in the ass when it becomes clear that attitude, the lies he told and his blaming Buffy for everything almost destroys everything. He promptly does what he should have done years ago and starts seeing a therapist.

they did cancel angel after season 4. the average season 5 ratings were higher than the average season 4 ratings but it still wasn’t enough to save the show.

My favourite season, by far.

This show could have easily gone on for another two seasons if Joss hadn't been so forceful about getting it renewed early.

We don't actually know how the slayer line works by this point in the show. Yes, the line initially moved from Buffy to Kendra after Buffy's brief natural death in Season 1. Then from Kendra to Faith after her death. But since they say here that Buffy's mystical resurrection caused an imbalance which The First is taking advantage of, it would make sense if Willow's spell reinstated Buffy in the line, thereby guaranteeing there would always be 2 slayers. That's my head canon.

Oh boy here we go!

I never lost faith, I always knew one of these days you will return with some Buffy knowledge to drop on us. I been eyeing up the audiobook and been watching several deep dive analysis series on both this and Angel thanks to this channel, you'll always bee remembered in my book.

I’m so happy! You’re back! I was just talking with friends of mine about how much I miss 21-episode seasons. And it’s for episodes like these, that build character, relationships, and further feeds into the final arc of a season. You just can’t fall in love or hate a character as intensely, a story can’t have as much impact, over 6-10 episodes. 😔
