Two Stroke Performance ERM Review | Best TBI mod?
After about a month with the TSP power kit (high comp head, power valve cover, and ERM tool), I have finally made my mind up on its value-add, after initial skepticism towards the cost of new tunes and the overall package.
It transforms the lower end torque of the TX/XC model by quite a bit, adding throttle response throughout the lower range. The mid to high RPM band is toned down depending on the tune of choice (MX or trail). Each piece of equipment features high quality machine work, and installation was straightforward.

Testing New TSP ERM Settings | Canyon Time Trial (No Commentary)
มุมมอง 137วันที่ผ่านมา
This weekend I took the 2024 TX through a gnarly canyon section that got hit by a thunderstorm, making for some rough hardpack and new rockfaces. I decided to add some speed to test out new ERM settings for the green map in TSP's trail-oriented tune (2% richer at high throttle and high RPM, 2% faster power valve everywhere). I'm still undecided if the full package was worth it ($770 ERM kit and...

    They just updated the ERM module firmware today and added a bunch of new features including being able to set fan trigger temps and also many more diagnostic tools. Check out the TSP youtube page to see. The value of the ERM module is undeniably worth every penny. It blows my mind they havent raised the price. As far as the head insert and PV cover, thats all rider preference. Ive yet to be in a situation where i thought to myself that i needed more power on my 300.

    I have a 23 300 XC TBI which I believe is almost identical engine wise to your 2024 Husky TX. Bike is great in sandy whooped out sections but in the tight wooded sections it has a very jerky throttle response which is tiring in the white or green map. Trying to decide if the ERM trail tune would be more beneficial vs. a heavier flywheel. I was leaning more towards the ERM due to its tuneability since it sounds like it smooths out the throttle response with the trail map. What is your thoughts?

    So I understand the stiff feeling in the frame. But I’m riding a 2022 TX 300 and you still feel rocks and chatter bumps when riding. It’s not like you don’t feel it at all on the older models. I think the stiffness would be better in corners.

      I’m currently running the 33s on my 300 XC-W, first “gummy” I’ve ran. It hooks up very well in almost all conditions and is fairly durable for such a soft compound, sharp rocks will kill it fast though. I ride faster style crosscountry, not so much single track anymore so I’m keen to try the regular 33 next time.

    • @podpocalypse9817
      @podpocalypse9817 หลายเดือนก่อน

      M5B carcass has a softer build than the MX34, it's very sensitive to air pressure for tubes, or Mousse squish. Sidewalls also feel squishy. I run heavy duty 4mm, had it at a higher pressure than I normally run (9 to 10 PSI); lower pressures had it a bit washy in turns. I personally like the performance of the AT82 and MX34 over the M5B, however the M5B crushed the Dunlops for durability. I think it's a pick your battle situation.

Also run 4mm bridgy tube in the back & mousse + GT216 front 110/100 gt333’s are tall and the profile steeper. Sharpened up the handling a little too much. The only reason the AT 81 is chunking the knobs, is because production on them stopped a while back, because they were introducing the replacement for them. There is a date code on one side of the tire. It is pretty small, but it will have an X 0816 . The X followed by the month and year of production. I love the AT 81 for Southern California Desert. But l have gotten an old one, and it only lasted 6 hours with 14 knobs chunked off. Get tires made within the year, it really makes a difference ! The New AT 82 in no way as good as the tire it replaced. I have tried 12 different tires at least twice, to make sure, and the AT 81 gets the best overall traction everywhere, except sand washes when knob height wears down.

    • @podpocalypse9817
      @podpocalypse9817 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I appreciate the explanation, and the stock AT81 is indeed mid-2022 (purchased in Feb '24). However, I am now left with more questions about its build quality if it can't last 1 year in an air-conditioned building, and as to why they would choose that kind of rollout strategy.

      If you hit Lower Cove Wash parking and head directly south, that's the region. (East of the reserve fence is closed, West is open). Make sure to not go on the bicycle trails 😂

      It was a skinny 110/100 - I don't think they had other sizes on sale at the time, which is the only reason I picked it. Definitely felt the skinny-wobble a bit. I think a 120/90 or 130 would feel better, especially with the softy knobs. 🛵

    Up hear in northern California I run a Kenda equilibrium for the super narly off grid trails as it offers amazing traction without leaving a lot of tracks . It's soft and wobbly at speed but you learn just deal with it . I do wish for something with a little tougher side wall that's more damage resistant.

    Running the crossbite on my 450exc in northern Nevada and I hate it! Sketchy, unpredictable no matter what pressure I run it at. Ive settled on 12 psi but its just not confidence inspiring. Its getting replaced with a Bridgestone X31, based on many recommendations. Recently mounted Emex T45's on my sons XR100 and he was almost instantly a better and more confident rider. He's only 13 but i value his opinion, he's a pretty talented and aggressive rider and so far he loves the grip the T45's are giving him.

    Cool man, im looking at upgrading to the TE 300 from my TBI converted 21 GasGas EC 300. Feels right when I first sat on it just like the Gasser did when I bought it.

    • @podpocalypse9817
      @podpocalypse9817 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you love slow technical terrain then the TE will be awesome. It does have a different power delivery, though. A bit tame compared to the previous generation; a lot of people re-gear them by adding a tooth or two to the rear sprocket.

    Unscrew your red idle adjust screw and apply some grease or anti seize to the threads. It should make it screw in easier and possibly go further to raise the idle. Also be sure your TPS value is set at .40v with both red and yellow knobs unscrewed all the way to where they don’t affect the reading.

    • @podpocalypse9817
      @podpocalypse9817 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'll be doing this as well as changing out the spring. Pretty sure the current spring maxes out on purpose - probably for some EU regulation bullcrap (similar to how TPIs had to hide it).

    I wouldn’t attribute the stalling to the flywheel wheel weight, the added inertia will keep the motor going so more weight will equal less stalling on roots, rocks and technical. Same with starting off. Most people can’t discern the added weight for acceleration. Motocross riders use it often but don’t tell anyone. Another product that works amazing for taming fire breathing bikes is the G2 throttle cam. It smooths out your riding and really helps during a long 3-4 hr race when fatigue sets in.
