Thinking about picking myself up a VanVan next month for my first proper road bike, I had a pit bike in my teens that I ripped the hell out of with no maintenance until it wasn't fit for purpose anymore so this is nice to see. If you run out of ideas, perhaps a voice over of this video explaining what you're doing and why, and maybe how often you might. Will be sure to check out your other videos to itch the VanVan itch a seem to be developing

I have just become the proud owner of a little Van Van 125. It's an older one thatch intend to renovate. Could you tell me if the full exhaust system that you fitted gives the bike any more speed? Mine is getting to 50mph after a while. Just looking to get the best from it.

A bashplate off of a Sinnis Apache fits straight on and looks more rugged and effective .

I keep my van van in a garage much like yourself. Do you cover yours up? I'm concerned that putting a cover over it can cause unneeded condensation? What's your thoughts? Cheers. Great videos by the way.

What fork gaiters did you get and how are they holding up? I put some on mine a couple years ago and they are breaking up. They never fit tightly to begin with.

is that a new airfilter? did you use some kind of air filter oil? and do you know whats the sticky substance on the old air filter?

It's a mystery to me why people need to replace brake pads so often. I check mine regularly and I see that I lose 1-2 mm a year on average. Are you braking hard all the time?

In my case it was the inside of the rear wheel and the bottom side of triple clamp. Also, I've got lots of small spots of chipped paint on the frame (strangely mostly in the "V section" on both sides) because I tend to use this bike more off-road than on the paved roads so debris is hitting the bike all the time. That said no rust on the frame. Definitely no rust in the places where your bike has it. Even more interestingly, like yourself I currently live in a damp climate so I was surprised how much rust you've got, or should I say how little rust I have on my bike :)

could you not fit a mudguard extender to eliminate road grime throwing up onto frame .maybe a better long term solution.

I'm not surprised if you use it in winter. Anything can rust in British winters with all that salt on the road.

If those pads are organic they will only last a few months, not good for long hard rides, Sintered pads are much better and last much longer,

The Van Van gremlins are really a thing! I learned to stop worrying about all the strange noises this bike makes (Unless it's an obvious "it's-breaking" sound). The Van Van really has its quirks and the random strange sounds are part of it I guess 😅 As long as it's well maintained and you don't abuse it, they're bullet proof.

If only you were on a bike originally designed for soft surfaces like sand

My best friend has one,she did London to the northern tip of Scotland and back twice already…such a beautiful bike

By the way - You can get split gaiters so you don't have to disassemble the whole front end to put them on.

You pay for labour and experience. It's a fair price.
