  • Hi! Welcome to Me, Myself & Dad!
On September 2022 I rode round the coast of Great Britain to raise money for St Wilfrid’s hospice in Eastbourne in honour of my dad who passed away from cancer in 2020. Details below on how to donate.
This is part 1 of a 2 part summary of my 4,000 mile adventure!
Each day of the trip also has its own video. Discover a more detailed look of my tour here: • Me, Myself & Dad - Tou...

Thanks matey! Just a little something to mark a year since my trip. Nice to close the book on MM&D. Got some more bits and bobs in the pipeline 😉

I really enjoyed your series, I also watched a chap more my age on a Yamaha 100 earlier this year. Puts my riding to shame. Are you planning anything else Jon, Europe isn't far.

Thanks @therealunclevanya!! I’d love to do another trip but this was a one off really. Tough to get the time off work etc. but never say never. All the best!

I recall you talking about your VanVan being a bit too underpowered for things like overtaking ... i cant recall if you also mentioned the VanVan 200 as an alternative (vs a different bike altogether) but I'd recommend you try one if given a chance. I have one and wouldn't want any less power. I will also never sell it. Other than sentimental issues, i think uograding from the 125 to the 200 is a worthwhile move for anyone who really loves the VanVan but needs just a bit more power for practical reasons. The VanVan 200 + a sprocket tooth change/upgrade will sort out your concerns, i reckon, without sacrificing the VanVan love affair. However, this of course won't account for any sentimental attachment you may have for that particular bike - in which case the heart over rules the head.
Anyway, as a VanVan owner & fan I've really been enjoying your adventures on this bike. Long may it continue !

Not every market had a 200. I also have a 125 and I love it so much that I intend to keep it forever. And yes it's underpowered, I had a close call when I tried to overtake one lady at 50km/h on open road where 80km/h is a speed limit, and she was on the phone and started to accelerate. She didn't even see me. From that point I'll keep the VanVan for commuting and trail riding. For open roads I bought a big bike that always has plenty of power 😊 (2022 Vstrom 1050XT)

      @@speedjunkie78 The UK had it.

There are a few rv200’s in the Uk but I think they were only sold here for around a year so they are a bit expensive for what they are. Would like to try one to see the difference but doubt I’ll get the chance. Thanks for the good vibes. Ride safe 😎

How did you find such great roads? An app?

I used the Beeline Moto satnav. Some of the smaller roads were a pain at times as I needed to get to my destination at a reasonable time and the roads were so slow. But can’t deny that I rode some epic roads!

Jon has used a very wide range of tunes in this video, I was rocking the rap rock* through Middlesborough [*I'm way too old to know who it was :)]

Haha, different strokes for different folks. It’s all royalty free music. I would get copyright strikes for using Iron Maiden tracks 😎😉
